That was a different model, this one is the top end.

I'd totally get a set if they didn't look awkward to wear with sunglasses. Others have said it can be done, but that doesn't make it comfortable.

I've always hated closed earbuds, they amplify every breath, step and change volume when you are chewing gum or eating as the ear canal narrows and needs to equalize pressure with the outside. I also want to be able to hear the world around me

I find a cheap set of open earphones like the Soundpeats True Air are great. For me they have good enough sound for working out, I don't hear every footstep I make as louder than the music as closed earbuds do, these don't get in the way of sunglasses, fine to wear while chewing gum or eating and I can hear everything around me.

I'd still like to try a set of these just for the novelty, but they don't tick as many boxes and cost 4x the price of a cheap set of open earbuds like the True Air. I do like the IP68 rating though with some of these Aftershox, it would be great to use while swimming or even showering without needing to crank up a bluetooth speaker too loudly.

  • Any predictions if this will drop any lower? Or should I pull the trigger?

this is the cheapest ive ever seen them - go now would be my advice.
I have 3 pairs in the family and we all love them.

Thanks mate, the trigger has been pulled.

      • it had been on $179, I think when Jaben was closing down its store. (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/533201)
        Nevertheless, $189 is good price..

        • sorry just looked at the price .. it is 184 after the coupon is applied ..

  • if waterproof is not a must, i think usb c is better than magnetic , no risk of losing the cable and need to buy expensive replacement?
im talking about the the openmove which also watefproof but not as high rated waterproof as aeropex

I bought one of these for $75 + Qantas points (it's not like I'm going anywhere in a hurry), had them 2 days.. decided to test them in the shower (as they explicitly mention that scenario) and then they started turning themselves off several times a day and randomly telling me how much battery was left.

I warrantied them and now have a new set that work perfectly. I only mention it because I suspect the waterproofing is not as good as they suggest.

      • so did you test the new set in the shower as well (maybe the first set was faulty).
thanks for the idea. i just browse qff i can get the "air" for all my points + $72

    • I totally agree with ChiMot ..

    • They come with a spare cable at least
