Good price. Very happy with my one.

    • How does this compare to the generic $20 fans out there?

      • +1

I bought the $99 Kogan Premium DC fan and it shits all over the $20 kmart fans. Chalk and cheese.

This is battery operated though so I can't comment specifically, but if all you've ever known are cheap $20 fans from kmart, you'll be blown away by better quality pedestal fans.

        (yes pun intended).

      • +2

You get what you pay for imo. Feels beautifully made considering it's mostly plastic, and it's so much quieter.

Can't say it blows more air, though since it's quiet and tiny you can move it closer to you.

      • It has a battery so you can move it around without having to plug it in.

I'm surprised actually how often I move it around.

It also has voice control which I use for everything in my house.

    • It doesn't come with a remote, right? And you need the app to be able to turn it down to a really slow level? That must be annoying.

      • it has buttons on the top as well

        • +1

Yeah but those buttons only allow you to set it to 25% speed, right? As opposed to using the app and you can set it to 1%, 2% etc.

      • +1

It has 2 buttons that give you 4 speeds + oscillate. The lowest one is very soft / quiet.

      • I use Alexa.

    • My one was never able to connect to the network via the Mi app ever since I bought it

      • Check you're on the Chinese server.

        • +1

I got all my devices connected to the Singapore server. They have servers globally in Asia, India, Europe, USA. Just select the one nearest to you.

  • what sort of crap power cord will kogan provide ?? 200mm ??

    • Just a generic black one, maybe 2 meters?

I used the included one with a spare travel adapter because it was a nice gray that matches the fan.

      • they wont i got a shite 600mm one

        • Weird, mine seemed a decent length but it just got chucked in the spare cables drawer.

        • Same here. The 3x Smartmi 2S fans are awesome but the 600mm power cables are a disgrace. Luckily they can run off batteries.

    • just received mine and set it up. Kogan sent separate to the Fan what seems to be a 1m cable. The original cable seems to be 1.5m in length

  • So it can run off AC power by plugging in?

  • +1

Great fan, no issues with connecting to WiFi. It is smaller and shorter than normal fans I find, though it doesn't impact on performance.

  • Would appreciate your thoughts on how this compares to the newer model?

    Worth the extra $30?

    • +3

The ion / dust thing sounds like a meme.

I'd save your bucks unless you really want a remote

      • +1

Yep, and the remote for the 2S is about $14 on Aliexpress.

  • +1

Highly recommend was considering vornado but too many mixed reviews, some love some hate. This is really quiet, low power even on full I think about 8 watts. Also super quiet and lover the natural breeze setting. Works with google home.

  • +1

    Fan of this fan
It being portable gets used fairly often.
    Very quiet

I use it more than my vornado which does cool the room down and this is more directional but the vornado is so loud

How does this compare to the Kogan Premium DC fan?

  • Do you need to open an account with Xiaomi in order to use the app?

  • +3

    Bought myself another one.

~$90 after PlusReward and CBA $30 back offer (I had to pay for Kogan First).

Girlfriend got the new version with the remote.

    • How do the two versions compare?

      • +1

She ordered it but we haven't got it yet.

  • can't wait for bladeless fans from Xiaomi

  • +2

Bought new version for $100 with CommBank offer and PlusRewards

  • Is this NON height adjustable???

  • -1

The fan has no remote control!! You are supposed to use your phone to control it but it is just easier with a remote.
    Fan has no height adjustment.
Fan is quite small, comes up only to my stomach.
And it's KOGAN, they are creepy and do illegal practices and have already been fined by the ACCC. And they still doing it, they have jacked up prices lately for black Friday discounts. ACCC, fine them again.
No AU plug right? Have to spend another $15 on an adaptor.

    • Did you buy it or just want to complain?

  • +2

ok I bought one from Kogan this week.

    1) The fan comes with a China power cable in the box, Kogan shipped a figure 8 cable (not very long) separately you don't pay for this.
    2) yes its small. I would say its about a meter high. Unlike most pedestal fans you can adjust. But its small and fine for my office and house
    3) yes you use Wifi on your phone and an the Mi Home app. You can turn it on/off and change speeds from the button on the fan

biggest annoyance is you have no idea how charged the battery is !! there is no indicator on the fan or in the app.

We got 3 of the Aldi fans last year and they are not smart but they come with remotes. I think they were around $80. The biggest advantage
of this is the battery in the base and easily being able to move it around the house.

you can buy a remote for $10

    https://www.passiongadgets.com/xiaomi-smartmi-remote-control…

im sure its cheaper on AliExpress

Thanks OP, pulled the trigger on one. Will definitely have to buy something to prop it up on because its quite short, but looking forward to owning a quiet fan!

  • Looking at these. Either this or the Hyundai that Kogan is selling. Hyundai has a high rrp probably over inflated. Which do you believe is better? I'm not fussed about all the speed, more interested in quietness, reliability as probably a bit taller/adjustable.

    expired? 139 showing

  • Can anyone comment on the power of this fan.
Would it be suitable to put in a lounge room to keep guests cool for example?

    Thank you

  • The fan goes offline after a few hours of inactivity. Then you no longer can turn it on via Bluetooth or wifi. you have to use the physical button.
