    For anyone interested in WA:

I called Malaga, they said item number is deleted (was on clearance), no stock but call Bayswater and Wangara, they both should have.

Called Bayswater first, they have 3 in stock, said their price is $500 but if you come in and bring the receipt and ask to talk to the manager, they might price match it.

Called Wangara, they have 6 in stock, they asked the manager and said we do not price match clearance prices. They are selling it for $500 too.

SO for WA, there's 3 in Bayswater, and 6 in Wangara. Might be worth checking if they put them on clearance tomorrow I guess. Maybe Tasmania just done this deal early.

UPDATE #2 For anyone in WA:

Just got back home from Bayswater. Manager will NOT price match. Same thing I was told via phone call with Wangara, Bunnings do not price match even other Bunnings within the same state, let alone across states.

    Mod: Updated comment.

Wonder if it's down to state-based managers. Almost never see discounted BBQs in SA stores

      • Possibly yeah. Wangara flat out said we will not price match it. Bayswater store said if you come and speak to the manager, they might do it. But I'm not going to drive all the way there for a maybe, anyone else close by could try. If anyone in WA gets a price match at Wangara or Bayswater, please post your receipt and let me (us) know.

    • $500 will probably already be their "clearance price" if they were originally $1000. Might get cheaper if they can't move them.
I find a lot of clearance deals posted are more expensive over here than prices found on here…yet to find one of my locals (Wangara is my closest) that price matches and has stock for a clearance deal found on here

    • I can confirm that Bunnings doesn't price match out of their own state anymore.

Some stores, the bad ones like Sunshine Victoria won't price match other Bunnings stores

I'm so vegetarian that I read that as Bee Feeder Discovery, thinking its some kind of hive/flower pot/bee paradise starter kit

Eating bee products is murder… You monster!

  • Are these any good?

I know their charcoal powered ones end up on gumtree for cheap because they're not very robust.

Worked in bbq sector for years.

Beefeater was once made in Australia and Australian owned. Got bought out by Electrolux and no one wants to touch them. Warranty went from 10 years to 2 years and they're bad to deal with now.

They were once good bbqs but any warranty/aftermarket parts will be a nightmare.

I can answer this! Each Bunning's store essentially has their own policy so they can choose what they want to change their prices to. So for this specific store they changed the price to $350 because it is most likely a deleted item, they only have 1 or 2 in stock left and they want to get rid of it for new models coming through. But if another store has say 10 of these in stock, they wouldn't mark it down to $350 each otherwise they would lose a lot.

Good tip for those who shop at Bunning's, if you know the item is categorised as 'deleted' you can get a hefty discount on that item if you ask or it may already be discounted at a heavy price.

    • I was told on the phone that Bayswater might price match if I talked to the manager, they only have 3 in stock and it is a deleted item. So drove all the way there, talked to the manager and was told, as you said, that they will not price match other stores within the same state, let alone across states. Also no further discount, the lady at the information desk who talked to the manager on the phone said whatever the price is, it's that. So $500 for this BBQ in WA.

      • +2

Yeah I forgot to mention that they strictly do not match each other's stores because they change their own prices from store to store. Also, it is whoever you speak to that may change the price for you. If it's someone at the info desk, they don't really care about what price it is, they will just say the price is that price and they 'can't do anything'. However if you speak to someone in that department (someone that does the stock in that area or just walks around in that area) you will have a better chance of getting a discount because they will want to get rid of it and get better stock in. It's really up to whoever is in on that day really. Bit of luck involved :)

    • You get a +1 from me because these are informative, helpful comments that actually add value to the OzB community.

  • Just checked the box BDBG420BA is the model number.

  • Bunnings Dandenong had a few of these on clearance for $500.

    • +1

Yep, just checked with my team app, it is $500 for retail for all stores. Team price for me is also saying $500 so it's definitely been reduced heavily.

      • I shop in bunnings all over melbourne and country vic and iv never been knocked back yet on price matching another store as long as it’s a deleted , promo or quit stage 1 2 or 3 stage …. some stores say if an item has $1000 worth of stock cant discount but most are happy to do cheep price if I take the lot
I got safes last wed was $50 in one store but got 2 other stores to drop price from $290 to $50 as I had reciept
Ps not sure y the negatives as I have reciepts for all my bunnings items I’ll even have reciepts for theses BBQs as well tomorrow but for $200

        • +1

Must be keeping your ebay business flowing with all the reselling

      • $500 is a bargain for a beefeater still.

You'll get 10 years out of it.

These are okay, a little better than the usual cheap ones but are not the “Rolls Royce” of barbecues that I thought they were supposed to be.

    • +1

Not anymore. Beefeater got bought out by Electrolux and quality diminished, warranty vanished from 10 years to basically nothing and support is worse than extremely terrible!!!

Bbq shops don't even want to deal with them anymore.

I bought one of these for $345 that was display stock (last one in store) in Gilles Plains SA. Because it was display stock it was already assembled.
    I thought that was great.
Until I got home. Having squeezed it into my car, I discovered that two of the burner knobs were from completely different BBQs and didn't do anything as they're a different size. One was the lighter side so I can't even tell if the BBQ works.
Went back to Bunnings and after a bit of to and froing ("you bought it 'as is'; 'well, it has to actually work and I don't know if it does') they're ordering two knobs. If it doesn't work they've said they'd take it back.

  • I got the inbuilt stainless version (natural gas house plumbed) of this with my house build (same internals I would say), https://www.beefeaterbbq.com/en-au/discovery-1100s-four-burn…. The BBQ is good, never had a real issue with how it works, but the stainless is poor quality and pretty much immediately started rusting especially around the temp gauge, but even the 'stainless' tarnished. I live 400m from the beach (sheltered), but wouldn't expect to happen so quickly.

Agree with the comments above, Beefeater used to be known as good quality, but recent years its gone downhill. I'm happy with the BBQ, but wouldnt pay retail for it. Its probably equivelant to generic branded BBQs now, dont expect to be much better than $300 Bunnings jumbuck bbq IMHO. If I had known Beefeater wasn't the original brand before buyout, I would have paid the extra to go for a better quality, or at least gone the signature range which seems better.

Got last one at Marion SA this morning. Thanks OP.

    • Good stuff.

  • What's the verdict on the quality of these BBQs? We live close to the ocean and rust is a problem…

    • I live about 100m from the beach and bought one… no BBQ is going to last forever. Definitely need a good cover for it. I've just ordered one of Amazon

    • Hahaha if you live near the ocean there is only 1 bbq for you. A Heatlie. They're hand made in SA. 10mm stainless steel hot plate and full Stainless steel body, lid and cart. They're now $3300.

This company use to make BBQs for the military. Anything else won't last, we had customers who live on Ocean side apartments and these lasted on the balconys overlooking port phillip bay. 20 years later handed down to the son!

    • Read my comment above. Wouldnt recommend, even with the stainless steel version i have.

      • You can go Heatlie mate, they're the best quality we have that's Australian made. They will hold up to the saltwater, but you need to go the full Stainless steel models and 10mm SS.

I ended up buying one of these to replace my Australian Beefeater which was bought in 2011.

Got it for $250 including delivery.

    • Where? How?

      • Well I thought this post was $200 and they said they can't do $200 because they had 10+ but offered $250 delivered.

        $210 + $40 delivery.

        • Wow. Thats a great bargain. Which store did you buy it from?

  • +3

    Great deal OP!
Just picked up the last 2 at Springvale (Melb) and managed to bargain them down to $350 for the boxed unit and $250 for the display.

    Remaining stock in SE burbs:
    - Notting Hill 3
    - Dandenong 4

One guy told me to wait until they have <2 units left as that brings total discounted value of stockholding to <$1000 (2 X at discounted price of $500 ea). Once that happens they basically have the licence to move them at whatever price.

    Happy hunting!

    • Good work mate, happy to hear.

    • Great.. would you mind sharing the a copy of receipt? My local bunnings has it for 600 and wont match unless I show receipt.

  • So not even any side burner with these now. Quality has definitely vanished and even the enameled grills are half as thick as what they once were.
