Microsoft Windows 10 Professional A$60 (or US$39.99) / Home A$50 (or US$29.99) @ PC World

93

Noticed this deal is back and cheaper than previous deal in June. If you switch to pay in USD might be a bit cheaper. Seems pretty good for a genuine key ?There are discussion in the previous thread saying the keys are from mediamart if you are interested.

The link was posted on PC World's Twitter so it seems legit.

Microsoft Windows 10 Home is also on sale for $USD $29.99 here

eBay has legit ones for $5.

yes I saw this discussion in the previous thread as well- Idk if the $5 keys are legit though…

I bought one for $3 back in 2017 from eBay, still working, even switched to Windows Insider a year ago and no issues with the key. Have formatted multiple times too and changed a few hardware components and it's still activated. Done the same for a friend 2 years ago, also no issues.

      • Tell me how can it not be legitimate if it registers successfully with Microsoft?

    • +7

EBay is not legit. They are MSDN keys.
Nor is pc world if you look into it. Just another marketplace with unscrupulous randoms selling MSDN keys again.

FYI, most likely the keys will work. That doesn't mean they're legit.

      • Wow! Maybe you should tell Microsoft?

        • They know.

Sometimes the keys get revoked but frankly it seems not often. In which case people buy another $10 key and use it until it gets revoked.

I can understand it's cost effective to do the wrong thing.

I choose to buy the OS retail. So far I've had many years use out of two win 7 pro retails.. It was worth it.

It's also free if you already have a Windows 7 Pro product key.

This works for any win 7 licence not just pro, bro!

      • +2

No kidding bro. Did you read the title of this post at all?

  • +2

You just need a legit win 7 licence to get win 10 for free. I recommend removing them from old laptops with win7 licence stickers on them (heat gun = optimal, otherwise use a blade and be careful).

    • Hairdryer works like a charm too

      • Especially on my hair :-)

    • Those licenses (legally at least) are usually non-transferable, so they're not really legit as soon as you move them.

  • Windows 10 Home is also on sale for $50 (or USD$29.99) here

I just used an old windows 7 key from a broken computer and downgraded to windows 10
Worked a treat. And didnt cost me anything

    • I just downloaded win 10 from the official website and used an activator
Worked a treat. And didnt cost me anything

      • Major updates correct that each time.

        • +1

          just run the activator again

  • Honestly most of the end users don't need pro. Check here what you may be missing if you don't have pro installed. nothing much tbh

    • Thanks exactly the info I was after. The table seems to show these two things missing from W10 standard in comparison to Pro:

BitLocker device encryption (useful but alternatives can be obtained).
Windows Information Protection (seems to be more for enterprise?)

      I can live without them.

Although I really think to compete better with MacOS, Microsoft should really include BitLocker as a standard option in Windows.

      • IIRC it's the group policy missing that I can't live without. I swear it's the only way to tweak some of the asinine things that make windows like an annoying child.

        • You can enable it by downloading a third party application.

      • Win10 home offers a limited bitlocker if you sign in with your ms account.

      • RDP isn't included in Home, unless something's changed recently. Home can't join domains, which is obviously crucial for any device that needs to join one.

        • I thought that too. I use a Win10 box as a server that I access from my desktop - and I didn’t think that was possible;e with Home.

Total rip off. You can buy them way cheaper.

I have one of my PCs on W10 Pro. It's the ONLY one that can't see all of the other devices on the network.

    • Yep its a bloody headache. I manually added a shortcut to the other computers so i can access them.

These are volume keys like the grey market ones on eBay. You're just paying more.

    • Thanks for the heads up, I would have assumed that pcworld would have been a little more reputable!

  • +4

Fancy paying 5-10 times more for another dodgy key

I don't have any issues with posts like this, but saying it's cheap for a genuine key is false, and for that reason I have to neg this deal.

This key will not be a genuine made-for-Australia retail or even OEM key. Don't call it genuine and I'm happy to remove the neg.

Interesting - wonder where they get them from? We're resellers and to be Microsoft certified we MUST buy from authorized distributors.

These distributors of which there are about 10 in Australia sell to the reseller Microsoft Windows 10 Home Retail between $153.54-$166 EX TAX. So my minimum buy price is almost $169.00.

The GENUINE retailers are selling for:

      $225 - Microsoft
$189 - uMart, PLE, ourselves etc.
      $199 - Harvey Norman

So with the buying power of JB, HN, OW etc - the GENUINE Microsoft approved retail version you won't get for less than $189.00.

So no matter how this is all justified by videos, and just because you get some wetbag tier 1 Microsoft Support not really understanding the question (Why didn't he call their Piracy careline at 800 852 3543 to get an REAL answer), these key are NOT legit.

I'm NOT saying don't buy them - do whatever you do, but please stop trying to justify them as genuine. They are not made-for Australia Genuine Microsoft release keys. Really, they're not. They could be stolen or read from yet-to-be-sold box copies or anything, but they are not legit.

Again - knock yourself out and buy them. I really mean that. Just know you're not supporting true genuine local business but rather overseas people who couldn't care less about it being legit.. But I understand everyone needs to make a buck. Me personally prefer to do it legitimately, and it doesn't sit well with me when I follow the rules but it's the people cheating the system that make all the sales, but then again I also imagine it could be a 15 year old Balinese kid who used to make his money from tourists and is now in need of income. And then I just go "oh well" :)

      All the best.

Sorry that I don't have all the answers for you dude, but my comment was more in response to the OP "deal" and just putting it "out there".. personally I've never bought from this site. Even I question the genuineness of these keys, anyways you take care. :)
