I just purchased 2 pairs for running after reading they have pretty decent reviews.
RRP $110, so down to $24 is decent

Amazon review sums it up perfectly:
Good looking, but the sole wore out very quickly
I absolutely loved these shoes when I got them. They look great, are super comfortable, and my feet breathe very well in them. However, after about a month and a half, the inner sole started crumbling and the foam started tearing off. I wear these shoes about 3 times per week for an hour, so they should have lasted a lot longer. I've never had this experience with shoes before, so I really can't recommend them unless the manufacturer changes the foam they use for the sole.

Yet 76% of people give it 5-stars with a 4.5-star average. Many positive reviews. Also, PUMA gives 50 days return if you aren't happy and Paypal protection (standard) for 180 days

  • Another review with photos of the lightweight sole failing rather quickly: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R61QFBH1JAU5V/ref…

"Light and very soft. All day in a busy work environment your feet are still feel like walking on clouds."
"I was wanting a pair of gym shoes that were more breathable. Picked these up and I really like them. The insert is memory foam and the mesh exterior is great. I don't run in them often, but I can tell that the insert is too soft to have adequate support. I'd buy them again, for sure."
"I have owned 5 pair now of these comfortable, regular or casual wear Puma Carsons and once again they never let me down. Love the new color scheme, the gel inserts and overall comfort and style that I have came to enjoy. FYI I usually wear a size 9.5 but would suggest you go up in size a half inch (I always order the 10s in this shoe)."

And here's some positive ones. If you seek for 1-stars, you will find them

it also depends on how often you use them

my shoes (not Pumas) tend to look like that after about 2 months, but then I've put about 600km (of pavement walking) into them by that point (and they look similar to the images provided)
after 600km, I'm kinda surprised if they don't look like that… I find it kind of expected

sure… for me it's two months, but that's regularly ~15000 steps per day
it's not a "they're useless within 2 months", they're normally looking like this after a distance, but that's solely dependent on how far you're actually travelling

do I recommend them if you're running a marathon every other week? heck no,
as a casual walker (of around an hour a day?), then it'll likely last you around 6 months
it's not a flaw with the shoe, they're simply not made to suffer that kind of punishment and expect them to "not wear out" within a certain time frame

        • Sure it's a flaw. They're not fit for purpose if they use a sole too soft to reach the 12 months statutory warranty.

My runners (I have two pair and alternate which extends life.. Probably the stitching and general shoe life more than the sole though) have lasted about 3000km each on pavement. And they'll double if not triple that before the sole is falling apart. They are Mizuno if anyone is interested.

Although, I wouldn't wait until the sole is done before replacing as you'd likely risk injury from having a bad gait.

Make sure to replace the Nikes under warranty. Multiple times if needed.. It's the only way Nike will learn.

PS: I had my Mizunos professionally selected at a running store where they watch you run in slo mo to see what you need. Probably helps to get the right kind of shoe for your running style. Bought one pair through them then got the second much cheaper via amazon.

          • @justtoreply: where they watch you run in slo mo to see what you need

            Sounds creepy..
