I don't have experience with these knives, made from AUS10 instead of the VG10. Have read they are an affordable range of Shun, some prefer it more than the Classic. They certainly look nice though.

Local suppliers which have stock are selling for $390 or more.

  Er, no-one prefers Kanso more than Shun Classic. And no-one needs a lanyard hook on the end of a knife.

  Save your money and wait for a deal on the Shun Classic or Premiere.

  Yeah my kanso is ok but pales in comparison to the classic. Obviously of lesser quality, edge is nowhere near as sharp and overall just feels worse to hold and use.

  Still a good knife, that I prefer over my globals, but the classics are better. I'm guessing a small minority prefer the more industrial, less refined look.
