They are on the top of ETHI. That is enough to get the champagne socialists to swallow their climate change promise.

Such a great tactic. Apple can now remove anything in the name of environment and their fan will love it so much.

@MagicMushroom: we have now removed the phone to save the environment

          • +1

@MagicMushroom: Its by far not the most outrageous thing Apple did. How about some $2000 pc wheels huh?

If I will call OW they will ship it to me free of cost?

      • -2

        Why would they do that?

        • +1

Because Studio Proper have free shipping.

Hmm, placed an order but no order confirmation email

    • I just placed an order with them, someone posted their reviews: https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/proper

      Yikes. Hopefully mine delivers

      • Dang, should've looked them up sooner. Seems unlikely we'll be getting it based on more recent reviews.

Wow, drove a fair way to the Epping store only to find virtually every Apple product had sold out and they only had the little cards to show at the register for airpods. No chargers, no magsafe cables…

    • Didn't think to call them 🤷

      • They don’t do stock check or price check over the phone as I recall.

  • Can anyone recommend me where to get USB-C to lightning cables?

    • Amazon has great Anker cables

    • Catch had a deal for Belkin cable ($ 8 or $ 9 i think with free shipping for Club Catch members). There is another one I saw today for Energizer cable @ Woolies for $12 (but may not be on sale at your local woolies)

  • It's fair enough to skip the charger if iPhone 12 comes with an USB Type-A cable, since such chargers are very very common.

But USB Type-C chargers are not that common yet. Unless you have Android phones :D Sure you see USB Type-C ports on laptops, computers, even power banks, but not on standalone chargers. So for many people they cannot charge their iPhone 12 independently using the included cable.

They have to make a decision between:

    • No charger, include a Type-A cable that is more common, but not compatible with other Apple products.
    • No charger, include a Type-C cable, charger is less common, but cable can plug into MacBooks without adapter.
    • Yes charger, but higher manufacturing, packaging, logistic, and warranty costs.

Since they have already decided to increase profit, so they only have to choose between 1 and 2.

    • I'll go one level further, I'm surprised they're still even including the cable, seeing that lightning cables are sold and can be bought for $29 to $55 everywhere. Perhaps next year, it would be a thin box with just a phone and some minimal padding.

      • They can't realistically skip cable useless they also switch iPhone to USB Type-C. Lightning connector is a proprietary interface, not everyone has it unless they already own an iPhone or iPad.

Also, cables wear and tear, it is unreasonable to expect cables from other/previous products continue to work for the expected life span of a new device, so new cable should be included with a new device purchase.

        • That sort of logic is very annoying to Apple. I think they really may just remove the damn port (lightning or usb) with the next iphone.

    • Dual port 18W with Type C and Type A is pretty common. However, Apple sells only Type C, by design. I mean, to cut CO².

  • 2019 Macbook Pro chargers are 96W in-case anyone is wondering, this is exclusively for the phones.
