Isn't this supposed to be the equivalent model/upgrade to the 3600? What was 3600 price at launch?

    • +2

No the 5600 non X will be.

      • +3

thought they were ditching non x for now, either way, what was 3600x on launch? This much?

        • For now. Possibly out next year?

        • +1

Rumours are 1st Q next year for 5600. They will want to compete with Rocket lake.

    • +1

Well, technically the equivalent was the 3600X

    • +4

this was about 50USD more, this is also 20% better for gaming, its a solid upgrade, for gaming the 5800x beats this by 2-3% so again… if ur not doing anything other than gaming, this thing is beast! also as a side note beats the 10700k/10500k for gaming!

      • Surely vs 5800 depends on resolution and 8 cores may be better for ported games with the new consoles

        • games aren't using those cores yet, so not really… if that changes then sure, if your running programs in the background maybe… but as it stands purely for gaming, they are pretty much as good as each other.
I'm no tech expert don't get me wrong, but I've seen about 6-7 reviews now and a fair few of them go into some details as to why, im pretty sure im giving accurate information here.

    • Yes, they do pickup

    • yes.

    • +3

Yeah $469+shipping at Shopping Express, U-Mart, Scorptec too

  • +8

    Isn't this $469 elsewhere?

    • -2

Price is less with 3% off gift cards and 5% cash back.

    • Scorptec, PCCG yep

former has pickup, latter has delivery only + charges

    • +2

nearly everywhere else, no idea why people are upvoting when its more expensive than most places rrp let alone not a bargain

  • +1

    5% cashback so $456.95?

    • +4

with amazon gc 3% off its 442.52 then

      • +1

Where do you get the 3% off amazon gc?

        • suncorp benefits

  • +16

This is only $469 plus free pick up or paid delivery at Mwave, Umart and Computer Alliance (in stock). Not a bargain.

  • where is the $499 price from?

  • +1

Nah sorry it's easy enough to get at MSRP of $469, not a deal

  • Cpu belongs to computer category, not sure for the 5% cashback.

    • 5% applies to computers, have checked shopback.

  • Not a deal.

  • The 5800X is only $10 above RRP with Amazon so 5% off etc. makes it a better deal than this one.

    • 5800x is no longer coming up on Amazon AU when I do a search, wanted to post that one up initially but could no longer find it.

      • Ahh, yeah I saw it several hours ago at least.

But just the fact that Amazon has stock may be a plus? Let alone with a modest discount. When I look at American forums they are all complaining there is no stock anywhere over there. Seems we should consider ourselves lucky just still being able to buy these at the moment.

Disclaimer: I haven't been paying much attention to current Australian store stock levels.

        • +1

5600x and 5800x are available easily enough, I bought a 5800x no problem and have it here now. The problem is with 5900x and 5950x.

      • For whatever reason they dont come up with the search, you have to go through categories or amd store, at least that's how it is for 5900x and 5950x

        • Unfortunately 5800X now says out of stock, using the above method.

    • I bought the 5800x earlier on Amazon but going to cancel as support can't confirm that I will get far cry 6 code. Not as good a deal without the game.

  • Why would you wait till the 16th when so many stores have stock locally? nearly all MSY stores have stock.

    • Because not everyone lives in a metro area to pick up, and it works out cheaper with delivery from Amazon. It is even cheaper with the gift card and current cashback offer. I've had Amazon deliver regional quicker than any reseller, despite saying they had stock.

  • +1

Got it, thanks OP. With the discounts it comes to an okay price. If Amazon drops the price to match other stores by shipping time, that will be the icing on the cake.

  • +1

I trust shellshocked … if he said its cheap, its cheap.

  • Whats a good Mobo to pair with this?

    • probably the cheapest b550 available

    • -1

Depends on your budget. Just look for a good deal on a B550 motherboard.

      Top tier B550 are:

Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming Wi-Fi

      Gigabyte B550 Aorus Master

      • Doesnt the asus ROG strix have faulty lan ports?

    • Im using by gigabyte b450 board with it right now and its fine. Gigabyte released a beta bios and then took it down (not to piss of AMD maybe?), but gave support for the 5000 series.

  • I bought the 5600x from CCPU (Carlingford Computers) http://ccpu.com.au/show_cat.php?cat_id=cpus for $475 delivered ($460 + $15 postage & insurance), paid with bank-transfer so no fees.

  • +1

    Nearly $470 now

    • Just went back up to $480.

      • I got in at 470 last night :)

  • $470 with 4% cashback = saves $16.92 pre GST price = $453.08 after cashback

    • Add 3% off the Amazon gift card from Suncorp and it would be even lower.

  • So I got a partial refund when I bought it at $481 and it shipped at $470. Does this impact the shopback eligibility?
