  • Is $5 a good deal for this beer? What's the regular price?

    • $6.49

  • +2

Are we going to post these deals for everything worth $5 or more!

  • -5

    Don't support communists guys.

    • -6

Not sure why you getting negged…Ozbargain is overrun with pro-communist traitors it seems.

      • Everything and everyone from China = Communist?
        is about as valid as:
        All Anti-China posts = Racist.

        • +1

Don't buy from communist China is as valid as CCP telling Chinese businesses to not buy Australian products. If you care even a tiny bit about Australia or Australians, you would realize how China banning more and more Australian products is affecting local farmers and businesses or you can bury your head in the sand because it doesn't affect you.

          • -3

@dealhunter52: You may as well stop buying and using anything then.. Your device you are using to type your racist garbage into this forum was either made in China, or partially made in China. Same goes with all your appliances and almost everything else in your house. Do us a favour and throw them all out and buy local Aussie versions of everything again, IF you can find them without a single component made from China.

Not all Chinese companies or people are CCP, Communist or remotely related to it. If you can't see that, then you won't see how racist you actually are.

            • -4

@bchliu: As per your logic, go tell your master Xi jin pig that average Australian businesses and farmers are not representatives of Australian government, so stop being childish.

P.S. I never said anything about Chinese people. You're the one racist here and it's apparent from your comments.

              • +5

                @dealhunter52: Really??

                pro-communist traitors

You calling people who disagree with general anti-China comments as "pro-communist traitors".

Regarding Australian Businesses and Farmers: It's unfortunate and I wouldn't agree to it myself - I try and buy Australian goods personally for my family to support Australians. But the situation is nothing more than escalation of tit-for-tat that the Australian government initiated. Whilst Australian businesses and farmers are not representatives of the Australian Government, they were the people who voted this Government in.

                • +2

@bchliu: Wrong choice of words, I agree and I apologize if you're offended. I have nothing against Australian Chinese community or Chinese people in general.

But whilst this economic and trade coercion is being dished out to Australian businesses by CCP, I would keep opposing Chinese products and businesses here because they serve as tools for the CCP and make it more and more authoritarian and aggressive in its policies.

                  • +8

@dealhunter52: None taken. Just remember that there are a lot of Chinese Australians on this board that have nothing to do with any of this and that it is difficult to be stuck in the middle and hearing anti-Chinese sentiments that people are just throwing out there. The situation is not something that anyone here on this forum can control, so no need to call names out to general Chinese (Australian or not).

As far as the Sino-Australian relations - it will be fixed, I'm very confident in it. Will take a trip or two from ScoMo or the Chinese Ambassadors or Pooh Bear to mend.

                    • +1

@bchliu: I totally agree with the first statement. Second one, I hope it happens but it looks highly unlikely in short term and it may take more than a decade to reset the ties.

  • Curious. Did anyone actually just get one bottle of beer? I always get a pack or slab. People do with wines or spirits.

    • +1

Why not? Bottle shops sell beer by the bottle too. I suppose there's people that want to try other beers without buying a 6 pack of them in case they don't like the taste.

  • +2

$5 a beer is not a deal. You can literally get $5 back on everything. Why would you buy an overpriced Beer? Not to mention a CCP beer that costs less than $1 in China. The effort of collecting one beer is way too much. Cashback doesn't mean it's free immediately. You have to wait months for the $5 to get back into your account and then deposited back into your bank account and for the worst scenario that it doesn't track or you forgot to apply cashback, you would've had paid for a $5 mediocre beer.

    • sigh I could direct you to the hangover aisle in a Chinese supermarket and point out the price difference…

Or I could point out to you that the excise on packaged beer here is $2.26/l, so already $1.45 is excise.

Then I could point out that you pay a 10% GST, so our tax component on our $5 beer is currently $1.90.

Then I'll remind you that Qingdao used to be a German concession.

      • It's still a dollar beer. You're paying more excise and taxes than beer.

        • Yet still I'd take it over some elements of Fitzroy's finest!

  • Should get $0.05 normal cashback as well!

    • +2

      That's the Ozb spirit

  • +6

Buy my Lobsters and Wine and I shall buy your Beer.

    • Oath

    • $5 lobsters would be nice

    • "Buy my Lobsters and Wine and I shall buy your Beer" not much of a threat considering China can survive without Australia.

  • "Hoppy European Lager style" … guess and I now go out and buy a nice European beer. Or should I buy the copy?

    • European is better, its always better beer

  • The quality of this beer sold in here is much higher than they sold in China, i used to use this beer to cook the beef which taste good.

  • +1

    I am pro-democracy… lol.

  • +3

During this time we have to boycott china products.

  • +1

They boycott our barley (and other agricultural products) - We boycott their beer (and everything else we can, too).

    Simple.

    • -1

I have great sympathy for you. Since you're so indignant, I have a few recommendations for you so you can have a better life and piece of mind:

      1. Check everything you own and every item at your home. If it's made in China, burn it.
      2. Never buy made in China from now onwards.
      3. Deactivate your Ozbargain account because most of the bargain items posted here are made in China. Not much to see here really.

Voila! You'll live a happy life ever after.

      • Wow haha … I get the feeling my comment has made you a bit mad, judging by your over-the-top and inflamed response.

Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised though, considering your username. A shame that you couldn't deal with seeing a comment about China without feeling personally attacked on behalf of said nation. Maybe a Chinese language forum may be more suitable for your sino political sensitivities xiangtan?

But no, I don't think I'll be doing any of those things. I certainly do think I'll continue reminding people that China is a prolific human rights violator, that they play dirty trade wars across the globe, and that their products are usually of inferior quality (among other issues). Hopefully one day soon we will have an even greater variety of deals from many countries eclipsing those from China. Plenty of non-chinese bargains on here as it is, though :)

        • -1

Quote: We boycott their beer (and everything else we can, too).

          Simple.

My recommendations are based on your above comment.

          OK. I apologize I didn't realize you're a hypocrite.

          • +1

            @[Deactivated]: Lol!

Nice try mate. Boycotting products from a country = literally burning your existing possessions?

Not to mention the equally ridiculous notion of never buying a Chinese product ever again when I'm specifically referencing the current Chinese import bans/tariffs (which will likely be temporary)?

Or running away from OzBargain because it hosts some people's posts about Chinese products?

Haha! Ironically, your attitude mirrors the current Chinese govts' unfair and unreasonable behaviour …
