Hi guys,
My computer's ram slots on the motherboard died back in the first week of uni (august?), so I had to get a new motherboard. Went to a shop called CPL near my uni, and bought a motherboard and CPU off them. Got home, set it up. Nothing happened, no fans spinning, none of the lights on the side of the board working, nothing. No harm done, I call them up the same day, they said I have to return it and they'll sus what's up.
Vic covid restrictions mean I can't return it IRL, but I had 5 bucks in my account so I couldn't afford to post it. They said I could return it once lockdowns over, so I take it in and they do their testing. BTW In the last 3-4 months, I had to apply for a covid grant and used that to get the exact same motherboard for more dosh from a different store (msy) and everything just works.
Anyways, now they're saying the board works, and it's an opened item (didn't open the packet with the cables or metal thing for the case) so they won't do a return. My question is, WTF do I do. Have I just been fkd by covid changing the rules, or can I get the refund.
If the board definitely works now, then no you can't get a refund. Covid has nothing to do with it? Even if you turned up with the board in August it may have worked when CPL test it then too? I wonder if the initial problem was human error (loose 24pin power cable? RAM not seated correctly?)
Just sell the board now that it works and as a lesson learnt next time, confirm the refund before buying the new one.
