Before buying one of these, check out what your local home brew shop has. Chances are they have a kit with a bench capper.
Tip. Save your glass bottles, because beer in plastic bottles tastes ordinary.

Wow sounds like a bargain! Do you have a link to a home brew shop with a kit for $99 that comes with a bench capper please?

    • Not sure why this is down voted. If you enjoy making your first brew, you'll VERY quickly progress to wanting to use glass bottles and needing more equipment like a capper.

This is a decent deal from coopers, but an alternative is likely to save you money even if it's a bit more up front.

This isn't too bad for beginners and there's heaps of easy recipes on the coppers site that teach you how to make different types of beers by adding extra hops and other ingredients you can buy from a brew shop if you want.

The instructions tell you that you can start drinking your brew after a month which doesn't really taste too good to be honest , recommend waiting 2+ months it really improves the flavor.

    • ^This.
Double the drinkable time and dont try and make anything but Larger if you dont have a steady 20ish degree room.

      • but lager?? Sure about that?

  • It's OK value if you want to use plastic bottles, otherwise you could get the fermenter for $45ish, and buy a capper. It is a very good fermenter, easy to clean, taps are very good and good value, get a spare tap, I've heard some have had an issue but I haven't.

Durable Hydrometer & Measuring Flask- maybe you want this
Mixing Spoon, ye you need a spoon
    30 x 740ml PET Bottles & Caps
Adhesive Thermometer Strip - comes with fermenter
Bottling Valve - you do need this
    Ingredients:
    1.7kg Lager Brew Can
    1kg Brew Enhancer 1
250g Carbonation Drops, - sugar will do

There is no other Big W Coopers Home brew special happening, hasn't been since before Covid

  • Pro top: save a few bucks and avoid buying specialty sodium percarbonate to clean your fermenter.

Napisan or store brand generic equivalent is basically the same stuff. Fill the fermenter with water, throw in a cap full and let it sit a few hours.

If anyone's interested in this kit it's definitely worth checking out your local homebrew shop first. Like for anyone in Melbourne, Grain & Grape has a starter brew kit that's the same price as this:
    https://www.grainandgrape.com.au/products/category/YYUJQTHM-…

It comes with a fresh wort kit which I'd definitely recommend over the coopers tins. It's basically a 20L bottle of wort from a real brewery, it retains a lot more of the hop flavour and doesn't have the "tin tang" you get from tinned malt extract. Just add the yeast and you're set.

    • The Coopers fermenter is better, easier to clean, it has a smooth surface, the one on the link has ridges and indentations where the handles are. The coopers fv is wider and easier to reach into to clean and you get the krausen collar. Coopers taps are better and you can pull them apart and clean them. The lid of that is a problem, difficult to clean, probably has a rubber seal you have to pull out and clean and they break.
