Full Motion TV Wall Mount That Also Goes up and down

Hi there,

I have a 65" Sony X9000H that I'm looking to mount on the wall. Ideally I'd like to be able to change the height of it, so its down low at eye high when sitting on the couch, but be able to move it to standing eye height and swivel it 45 degrees if we want to watch it while we're making dinner for example.

Don't really want to mount it high and have it tilted down all the time, as in general at couch level (which is how we watch it the vast majority of the time), its perfect. If we mounted it low and just swivelled from there it will be blocked by other furniture.

Can't seem to find any mounts that can do this! Do they exist?

Thanks.

  • Not a wall mount, but the only thing that satisfies the other conditions would be a stand like this.

    wow talk about TV addict

Most of the time I'm making dinner is right around 6pm when the news is on. I like being able to hear it mostly but anything that catches my attention I can look up and see the article. I'm not glued to it and certainly not addicted to TV. I'd be lucky to watch 2 hours a day.

The only mount I can think of that would tick your boxes is a hospital style mount.
It'll need to be massive (to haul a 65" around) and as a result its not going to look very nice, it'll be incredibly expensive and it'll be a massive PITA to install.
For your use case, a cheap second TV in the kitchen, or as suggested below, something more portable like an iPad is likely a far better solution.

        • Yeah I've gone off the idea :) Thanks.

    • With 3 young kids, making dinner, plus all the other requests that go on all night, and all the cleaning, it means you spend the A LOT of your time in the kitchen. It would be nice for everyone to be able to watch the TV/movies "together" no matter where they are in the room. I don't think its about being a TV addict.

  • This is the best I can find…Looks a bit dodgy though, page says up to 65" but the hyperlink says 60". No specs on how much it moves either so you'd have to ring/email them I guess. I don't think anyone really makes them that adjustable for larger TV's.

    • Yeah does look a bit dodge. I think you're right, it doesn't seem feasible at the moment. Thanks though.

You could use the energy and mount savings to buy an iPad instead, probably would look just as big on the kitchen counter and if your hifi has airplay2 then you can use the sound on the hifi too, the movie will delay itself to match up.

    • There will be other members in the family all watching the same thing in other parts of the room. If I could mirror the TV onto the iPad, that might work? If I Airplay from the iPad to the TV, will it show on both iPad and TV. Not sure if that's possible.

It is sounding like a mount is not really feasible.

      • Actually I don’t know if you mirror whether it’ll show on both in the eighth aspect ratio. I’d have thought so. But I only cast or use native apps. I can try later when I get home if you want.

  • …swivel it 45 degrees…

You will need to be very careful how you mount the TV since it's quite a big and heavy. The further you mount it from the wall, the more "twisting" force there will be on the screws along the top of the mount. It would have to be mounted on a stud as a heavy weight at a wide angle can easily rip the plasterboard.

    • Yeah wall mounting is not sounding feasible.

      • It's not the wall-mounting that's not feasible - it's the ability to maneuver it around that's not feasible. The best mount on the wall is the one that will keep the TV as close and as flat to the wall as possible.

With the screen flat on the wall, the TV's viewing angle might allow you to at least watch some TV, even if it's not the clearest. Anyway, for the purposes of watching news while you're cooking, the sound of the TV might be all you need.

        • Having it on the wall in general would improve the angle. The idea in general was a luxury for sure.

          Thanks for your responses.

  • You can get wall-mounted ones that go up and down electronically, presumably with a remote control of some description. Not sure if these do the tilting you're talking about. That would be what I'd go for in your situation.
