  • Does this have the feature where you can plug it into your cigarette port and it acts as a jump start?

    • +1

Wouldn't that blow the cigarette lighter fuse? The amps required to start an engine are huge.

    • You use the alligator clips….but yes, it's main purpose is as a jump pack.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

My SCA Lead Acid unit was beeping on the weekend, so I assume the battery is dead. I think I have replaced it once before, but the unit is big and cumbersome.

  • What's the deal with 1200 vs 1500 vs 2000 peak..just the size of vehicle it can start?

We've only got small petrol cars with 420/650 cca batteries

    • +1

Essentially yes. Would last longer between charges (get more jump starts per charge) as well. I have the smallest (used to be marketed as 800A but is the same as the 1200A) and it has started my 5.7L V8 which had around 8V no worries at all. For the price difference I would get this one though, plus it has the 18W USB C, I don't think the smaller one does.

      • Thanks for that. Sounds like it should work well for me.

        Bought.

  • +1

It looks like this one can charge via USB-C - the 1200A peak needs a bullet connector (with supplied battery and wall charger). 3 bux extra seems worth it for that feature alone.

  • I currently have an 800A GOOLOO JumpStarter and it's served me extremely well, very happy with it.

Fast Forward 2 years, and now we just need a 65+ Watt USB-C Power Delivery Charger and I'll buy another GOOLOO jump starter so I can use it to charge everything :D

  • +1

Have older one by this this brand bought 1.5years ago from Amazon.

It won’t charge anymore. Just flashes light and doesn’t take charge. And no warranty as it’s more than 1year.

Never even used it to jump start anything

Quality not that great from this experience.

    • @someone, curious did you leave it in the car? Lithium batteries don't like the heat and can fail. I've recently bought the 2000 amp model id like to think I'll get more than 18 months out of it.

    • Did you leave it to run out of charge for a long time….

OR…. did you leave it on 100% charge for a long time?

    • Have you looked inside to see what battery is in it?

    • Did you contact them directly and see if they have any suggestions or may offer a replacement?

  • I have a 1500a gooloo purchased last year. It looks slighlty different to pictured.

Great charger. Got me out of a jam twice.

  • I have the 2000A. Has done half a dozen jump starts in 10 months. Working great. Worried about longevity though so I don't leave it in the car, which frankly is a PITA (always get caught out the first time the car battery has issues, then lugging it into the office or shop with me until the car battery is replaced. It's bulky/heavy as it should be)

It's great but I feel will only be worthwhile if it lasts 6 or 7 years (enough time to have a failing car battery, replace it, then have the replacement start failing again). The potential to own this for years before you need it is high and makes it a bit risky.

The manufacturer really needs to pony up with a 5 year warranty but then I suppose people would leave it in hot cars.

  • is it safe to store this “battery” in the boots?

    • Not a good idea, lithium batteries don't like the heat.

      • Where should you store it? You gotta have it in the car somewhere. The glove box gets hot and so does the middle compartment too?

        • Is the boot closed off and away from sunlight?

If so, it's a good spot

I'd also recommend getting one of those window Sunshades (the circular ones), to block sunlight from the front

        • I store mine under the seat, the aircon vents there for the second row seats and its out of the sun and probably the coolest place in my vehicle. I dont park in the sun often and have sun shades for the windows.

        • I leave mine at home. Not ideal but if you've got a failing battery you'll first see the signs on cold mornings where it'll struggle to start, in this scenario I'm at home 99% of the time. I also have a set of jumper cables stored in the car just in case I'm out and unexpectedly experience a flat battery.

    • I wouldn't if the car is in full summer sun everyday but most of the year I chuck it in the spare wheel well, no issues with my smaller one lasting a couple of years already like that.

Achieve a perfectly clean toilet with new GooLoo!

Thanks Op, realised my 2nd car wont start yesterday so bought one.

  • Can we use this to charge laptop?

    • +1

only seems to support up to 18W via USB-C, so I'd suggest no.

    • -2

If it's powered by USBC, then yes but enough to keep it powered.

      • +1

No, it depends what voltage the laptop requires. Most require 20v, which clearly this doesn't provide.

USB-C is just a connector. I don't know of any laptops that would charge with 18w.

        • Mostly 45W is required by laptops.

Lenovo has battery packs to charge laptop but was not intended for jump starter.

Hopefully there will be a power back that can charge laptop and jump start.

  • +1

What the heck. Thanks OP. I just bought one.

Now, I just need to work out where to store it, etc.

  • Code no longer works? Damn

  • Code not working
