Wow, good price on the honour band. I got one for 43aud from Amazon. Happy with the purchase, but annoyed that I am wearing anything on my wrist at all. Ease of charging is perhaps the best part, compared to competitor's devices.

I read that accuracy is good too, but haven't actually done any testing on that. Life's too short to track my fitness tracker.

Trouble is, people believe their tracker is accurate & the data valid. Believing that inaccurate data is accurate, is probably worse than not having the data.

I am searching for accurate sleep tracking, as my tested quite accurate (against sleep lab testing) basic Fitbit has a failing battery.

      First review on Amazon:
the wildly inaccurate sleep tracker … would indicate I awoke more at night than I did, and the times I DID wake up for a few minutes, it indicated I was awake for an hour or more. This makes any sleep data completely inaccurate and useless.

I bought & tested the Samsung Galaxy Fit band & found it unreliable. It was very inaccurate for sleep data - often indicating twice amount slept.
The Cadbury smart band was a joke. I found it produces FAKE RESULTS for Heart Rate as it only had flashing green LEDs to make out it was producing a reading! Not surprisingly, sleep recording was useless. Only step count was accurate enough.

If it is a systematic bias, consistently over or under measuring, then that's ok.

Random error, or entirely false default readings are obviously a massive issue.

These type of devices aren't a medical or scientific instrument - so only gives an indicative measure. That is usually stated in the user instructions.

As my training is in research design, I thought I'd check accuracy & reliability of a few bands. I was surprised.

If systematically say 10% high - as you comment, it would not matter much when comparing between daily totals. (Even the free Cadbury band was consistently 10% high in Step counts, which is accurate enough for most.)
Trends in activity etc are usually a more important measure to observe.

Heart Rate measurement tends to be more inaccurate / inconsistent in bands. As the Cadbury Band faked that (which could have unintended severe health consequences), I complained to Cadbury (who failed to respond) & the ACCC agreed to investigate.

With the Samsung, in weeks of use it failed to record any Steps in 1 day, but recognised the activity as Walking, with a fairly correct number of km recorded. The Step count could not be relied on.
It incorrectly & consistently recorded 14 hours of daily sleep, even when set to the most sedentary activity level. It detected REM sleep while awake! (I sleep 5 - 7hr/d, hence my interest in recording sleep patterns.)
          Got a refund.

  • I tried to purchase then had to delete it from my cart. And now it says I have already claimed it at that price but I haven't made the purchase. How do I go get the deal reapplied?

  • I like the look of these over Mi Bands but it's just a shame that they doesn't release the API's for these devices so that they can be integrated with the Sleep as Android app.
