I saw today for me they were offering free delivery over $20. While this might not be applicable for everyone, the prices are the same as instore and with the $4.99 delivery when its not free its still worth it for the convenience.

Update 22 Nov: Free delivery over $20 has expired. Currently showing $2.99 delivery fee.

Usually convenience stores on delivery apps charge a huge markup for the same items, some the items I ordered are cheaper than Coles or Woolworths instore!

Going to be some intoxicated people getting some value from this soon!

My order just came in less than an hour, with free reusable plastic bags that the other shops charge 20c for.

  • Website down?

    • Working for me

    More like DoorScam. No thanks.

  • 50 cent Tuna is not available in the DoorDash store.

  • Reject shop deliver now?

    • They use Doordash to deliver, similar to how 7/11 and many convenience stores do.

      • +4

What a time to be alive. Why didn’t they think of this decades ago, we could have been phoning up with our credit card numbers and giving them our local address.

        • +1

Many brick and mmortar stores refuse to mordernise and believe customer service will still keep the customers coming to their store. As they watch their eroding market share, they have resigned to use services like doordash to deliver even though they have to absorb the 15% or so fees incurred by using the service.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: They should all go in together and invent their own at-cost delivery network, that only member stores can use. Reject shop, woolworths, Dan Murphies, all of them could be sharing a professional version of door dash that they all pay just what they use. But then they'd all need websites compatible with such a system, I guess Door Dash is giving business owners the tools to make their order forms.

Such a shame they use Doordash but this is almost enough to give DD another chance.

Got subway from doordash, the app said was being made, was being picked up by a driver and after 1:30 hour of our food driving around the city, I called the driver and he said he never used doordash. we called the subway and nether they use doordash.

They probably included a lot of restaurants in the app that don't even deliver with them, never will use the service again…

    • I'd believe it. My menulog app still has a pizza hut on it that closed 2+ years ago… So dodgy!!

  • What do these drivers get paid?

I can't figure out if supporting such a service is detrimental to society or beneficial over the long run.

Anyone with an economics brain care to enlighten me?

I'm of the belief that these guys end up getting paid far less than minimum wage (after all post tax expenses are accounted for), thus effectively contributing to widening the wealth gap.

      beneficial over the long run.

      It is not.

these guys end up getting paid far less than minimum wage

      Yes they are.

effectively contributing to widening the wealth gap.

Pappa government gotta keep pumping immigration numbers to keep their real estate bubble propped up.
More people = more people wanting to buy a place of their own = bigger supply of workforce = "I can work cheaper than him/her!"

It is the future we chose and our kids and their kids will be paying for it.

      God save the Queen!

The Queen owns Doordash? Who knew?

    • Most drivers are international students, so doesn't do much to the wealth gap.

      • Actually it does - it steals even more working hours from aussies, so salaries (because there are so many students ready to work for peanuts) are always low or getting lower.
Ending up with a bigger gap for aussies.

  • once again doordash has a new user promo with the code "store2door" for $15 off a $30 spend with free delivery for new users. their 2fa sucks ass too

They sell 12 pack water, these drivers don't get paid enough to deliver that…

  • +3

Upvote for the effort making a decent list

Those bagging our delivery drivers pay, maybe should try it. My brother delivers for DoorDash and Menulog. All up, after running costs, insurance and 20+ other factors in paying tax and super, it works out at around $22 an hour. Adding in things like Reject Shop is great for them as not time-constrained like food and fewer complaints. Not all drivers are good, like not all taxi drivers, retail staff and any industry. But its not bad money and also helped keep him afloat in COVID. He'd have lost his house otherwise.

So biased, but I say order. Honestly, I find DoorDash no worse than Menulog and both those a hell of a lot better than UberEATS. He doesn't drive for them as they pay terrible. He'd be on less than $13 an hour on Uber. So if you want to support restaurants and drivers, pick DoorDash or Menulog.

$22 sounds about right, I was listening to ABC radio and they were talking about cost of delivery. The average cost is $7, 3 delivery’s an hour. And in the end someone has to pay for it (on top of DD/Menulog/uber platform cost). Be it business or customer.

Usually these deals are great as the platform is subsiding the cost as a form of marketing and gaining scale.

    • +3

I had no idea DoorDash and Menulog could pay so much. Thanks for the info.

      • +1

Had a friend who used to do Uber, he says food deliveries pay ~$6 each and he got $18 for 3 quick deliveries compared to 1hr of driving.

        • That is why kids should strive hard at school to get find decent pay :)
If you think that is I give up .

I have been shopping regularly at the reject shop so this appeals to me. In particular, I buy dog food (Chum is $1.75 per can) and dentastix (usually $5 cheaper than coles/WW). As I am usually purchasing 12 or more cans, so delivery will be free and save me carrying them.

  • DD banned for sock puppeting LOL

  • I am not in a delivery area :(.

Seems a tad strange that doordash has Solo 2L at $1.74, when they are marked as $1.94 by reject shop

  • Is it only the Reject Shop mentone available on Doordash?

  • I wonder if this is still working as not working for me now.

  • keep on getting error using all payment methods is their system currently down ? even tried reducing order to just below $25 and added shopback $10 gift card still get payment failed error. any tips?
