Tagging onto the recent Poll re the Hyundai. I really can’t go past a Rav 4 at the moment, so just curious about everyone else’s thoughts - do you like the look of the 2019 - 2020 Toyota Rav 4?

2020 Rav4 looks the best it has since the 1st generation

    • And is now twice as big, or at least it looks that way from the pictures.

Not a fan of Toyota's in general (exception of the LCs) but I have to say, Toyota's aesthetics are on the up and up.

Does it matter what others think if you like it buy it.

    • In this case it probably doesn’t matter as I really do like the look, but I am always interested in alternate views and opinions

        Its phuckin hideous.

  • Looks grown up now.

I noticed it with Honda's too. City is size of a Civic, and Civic is now size of an Accord.

    • New models tend to grow in size.

It is very hard to sell a new model that is smaller. So with every generation, the size creeps up.

      • New RAV4 is actually shorter (ever so slightly) to the last gen, and 1-2cm wider ;)

        • The width is generally what laymen are looking at. Many factors in length. Sometime length, even by a foot, could be eaten up by a bigger engine bay.

      • This has also (consciously by manufacturers or otherwise) allowed for new classes of vehicles to fill the gap. RAV4 got big, so there's a CHR now.

Yeah. I remember a time when the corolla was our family's little car. It felt like the smallest car on the road.

Now we have the Yaris and having sat in one in recent years, I think it is as large as the old corollas.

@[Deactivated]: 100%. Jump in a new Civic hatch and compare it to the 1990 Civic! Big change.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: Now that's one car where the old one looks better. I like how the new Civic R drives but you can't honestly tell me it doesn't look like it was made in collaboration with Bandai.

              • @[Deactivated]: Bahah 100%.

If I could get a brand new Civic that looked like that 90s ones and had the shifter and engine of them too, with the safety and interior of a modern one… seeya later money.

My partner has a silver sky RAV4. With the black trim and black wheels, I think it's a particularly smart looking car. But as others have said, as long as you are happy with it, does it matter?

  • No to the pics. Would have to see it in the flesh as well to judge properly.

  • +1

I absolutely love the design, in particular Cruiser Hybrid in grey or dark blue with the black wheels. The base model looks very cheap. Obviously styling is extremely subjective and I know many loathe the design in comments sections. To me its better looking than the sportage which looks ugly imo and the tucson which looks extremely boring. The CR-V looks fairly good as well and so does the CX-5 thoughts its starting to look a bit dated.

    • Agree about the Sportage. And the CX-5, meh. Actually CX-everything is looking a bit dated to me.

Yeah have been looking to buy this as well but managed to get some trouble with the current car fixed so happy to keep it for now. Haven't liked the RAV4 style since they changed from the 2005 model which we had but like the current one a lot.

Depends whether it has factory roof racks on it or not ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

    • Omg, I had totally forgotten about that clueless guy.

      • Don't worry, if you forget again, one of our friendly representatives will promptly remind you.

    • ^^^ What's the background story to this ?

I'm guessing someone is/was obsessive about roof racks ?

I'm looking at the Rav4 or the Kia Seltos.. https://www.kia.com/au/cars/seltos/features.html

Anyone have any thoughts? The Seltos seems very well priced.

    • I have been looking over the past week or so for a Seltos on the road but haven’t seen one. After the Rav 4, the Seltos would be my pick, but only based on photos. Quite a price difference between the Seltos and Rav 4.

    • The Seltos seems very well priced.

So it should against the RAV4, they're in different size classes…

    • +1

I really like the Seltos interior and find that both cars are externally beautiful.

  • yes

  • No mention of kayaks yet. I'm surprised.

  • +1

Have no idea, post the piccy

  • Never been a Toyota driver/fan, but I'm 100% liking the new Rav4.

Compared to the Japanese rivals within the same price point (Forester, CRV, CX5, X-Trail, Outlander) it's the pick of the bunch.

Oh yeas… the 4x4 driven off a cliff, lost to the elements, but miraculously seems indestructible.
    Like a dream, isn't it?
But then the educated wakes up, seeks more detailed specs, beyond, "being pretty" and then bases their "informed" decision
    on an "educated" perspective.

  • Looks like a Mustang.
All they gotta do is fit those Peugeot tri bar tail lamps and it looks SUV version of my classic ponycar

      Looks like a Mustang.

How many beers have you had?!

    • Mustang EV? still not close…
