  • How does warranty work with these? No warranty information on the sheet?

I've bought WD 1 tb ssd on prime day from Amazon UK via Amazon Au. They send me fitbit watch band instead of ssd. I was so upset with them. But thankfully Amazon Au told me order again from Au store and they paid the price difference. I will not order again from Amazon UK.

Wow. I ordered the same 1tb black drive on prime day and was sent an $18 outdoor tv cover. Still trying to sort it out. Where on amazon au did you organise a replacement?

        • +3

Hmm. Ordered a PS4 game and was sent an SD card. Something screwy with the Amazon UK warehouse.

        • I called them on the helpline number.

      • Oh yikes.

My WD 1tb prime day arrived today..

        Guess I got lucky.

Amazon is very good with this sort of stuff if you buy from them from any where just contact them and they will sort it out.

Its my first time building a computer so I dont know much, but I had originally planned to get the P1 of this. How do they differ and is it worth waiting for p1 to go on sale? Thanks!

I'd rather pay the extra for this drive: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/577620

    • +3

That's also a (new) regular price so if you're patient can probably get it for cheaper

      • Well, the evo plus could be had for $10-15 cheaper after CB.

    • I purchased this one for the PS5: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572222

Here's hoping it works…I don't see why not. It would also be best bang for the buck if your PC hw is gen4 and is faster than the 970.

      • +5

That SSD is slightly slower than the PS5 SSD so I wouldn't say it is guaranteed to work.

        • Cerny never said it has to match the PS5 ssd speed to work. As long as it works even a little slower I'd be happy with that

          • @FeZZa21: He has though, he said in his dev talk that third party ssd's will need to be 'slightly' faster then what's in the PS5 due to overhead.

      • +3

Yeah I wouldn't have pulled the trigger just yet

        • Worse case I can return it without too much hassle if Sony decide to only white list certain ssd's which I find highly unlikely

    • is it really worth the price difference?

    • +1

Why? Difference isn't noticeable in use.

  • Is this a good drive for OS and possibly warzone?

    • +11

      One or the other. Choose

      • +5

im guessing the person who downvoted you didnt get the joke regarding the size warzone/COD is getting now, i did, so i fixed it :) lol

  • Anyone know of a good competitively priced M2 to USB type C?? I need to run one as external drive.

  • +1

Not sure if it is Tlc or QLC but MSY, Kogan/DickSmith and SB tech list it P2 as QLC and it seems confirmed by TechPowerup
    www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/bourne-electronics-crucial-p2-50…
So since it has the possibility to be a QLC drive I think that SN550 or A2000 at the same price range would be safer

  • Is this good for a gaming drive on a pc or should I look at a Sata 3 SSD?

    • NVMe is faster than SATA 3

    • It's ok. But gaming tech is in a state of flux right now with the new consoles changing how SSD interacts with GPU. So anything is at risk of becoming an underperformer over the next 6 months as the good vs bad combinations are revealed in real world use.

  • This or SN550?

  • Can i upgrade this for Imac ?

    • short answer no.
even if you have the slot for you'd have to basically pull it all apart

  • no computer skills required?
i'll ask my grandma to put it in for me then, she will be stoked
