how long are these supposed to last since you can wash them?

    • Given how expensive Dyson are you would expect a while, but I was having issues with suction which only a new filter would fix - went through 3 in 1.5 years. I believe it's how they scam more money off the the people who already overpaid for a dyson.

went through 3 in 1.5 years

        Wow.

I've had a V6 for about 5 years and I don't think I've replaced it, if I have it's only been once. I've only recently just replaced my first battery too.If I notice any issues with the suction I will definitely take your advice!

        • Yea they used to be decent, still a rip off, but decent

      • I can only assume your usage is vastly different to ours.
We've had Dyson vacuums for over 10 years and never bought one of those filters.

        • How many have you bought? Which models? Assuming you believe the suction is as good as day one still right? We also have actual good vacuums, so it was easy to tell when the dysons started to perform worse. Going over the same section the dysons have done showed the dysons didn't pick up much.

          • @onlinepred: DC39 is our main vac with a (moderately useless) DC45 stick for a quick bit of dusting.

            • @bmerigan: Oh wow! Our DC39 died after 5 years, just out of warranty. Anyway, our Bosch is still going after 8 years, and still is stronger and more reliable, let alone cheaper.

Cheaper on their Amazon store(if you have Prime) ($14.99):
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Replacements-Absolute-Motorhead-Re…

A 4 pack even less again($14.26) with another store(EDIT: This is shipped from the US so requires $49 order for free delivery):
    https://www.amazon.com.au/FirstPower-4pk-Pre-Filter-Compatib…

    • Thanks, purchased from there. Didn't know they recommended replacing them.

  • Hi Kozhutki

It depends how often you use your device. Dyson recommends to change your filter once a year at least but if you realise your vacuum is loosing suction probably is best to change your filter.

wow… just in time… ive been trying to clean my filter it somehow got smelly…

Is there something wrong with my Dyson v6? I've been using it for the past 5 years and the filter still looks brand new….

    • do you wash yours regularly?

    • +2

Its the inside of the filter that gets dirty. Outside would still look brandnew. So when you run it under the water tap you will see all the dirtwahsing off from the inside of the filter.

Oops had mine for 6 years infrequent use, and haven’t changed it.

Had the DC59 forever. same battery same filter. every now and then I blow the whole lot with a compressor and a needle jet. Amazing how much dust that removes

The original filter can be pried open, wash it thoroughly, shouldn't need to buy a new one.

I received mine from Amazon and it was a big difference in sucking power! Never knew that the old filter had already degraded even after frequent washing…
