  • 3 months youth-pass for $1300. That's $15/night.
Overnight trains make good oz-bargainer accommodation.

    • +1

Except you can't do it every night because sleepers cost extra, so you would have to be good at sleeping in reclining seats, and you have to take a bath sometime.

      • Sleepers in most countries are hideously expensive.
But in many trains you can fold the seats completely flat, so an 8-seat compartment becomes a bed for four.
Get in early before departure, grab a cabin with your travel mates, spread out lights off and curtains closed.

Otherwise you fold up armrests and sleep across the seats. Or a thermarest on the floor.
        In France, couchettes are affordable.
Showers are not hard to find.

OK, not every night. Two nights in a city, and one night on a train works well.
A rail pass is great for your first trip to Europe, where you want to see a list of great cities.
Now I'd rather a hire car, and see more of the villages.

if your going to spend each day of your holiday riding a train, why bother going in the first place…

  • I like your attitude manic

  • I looked at getting a railpass for next year, but signed up for Ryanair email. I cant fly around from 9 Pounds per flight. I can sleep on trains anyway.
