Big Agnes tiger wall ul 1 tent
$420 + Delivery ($0 with Prime/$18 regular/$24 express)
Currently retails around $550 in Australia
Ultralight 995gr one person tent.
More info https://www.bigagnes.com/Tiger-Wall-UL1

Grabbed myself one, was initially going to purchase 2 person version but the price difference made me to go with that one.

Checked one in store and it’s fine for a skinny person. Internal space is ok and I think I’ll be able to even fit my backpack inside.

P.s this is my first post

  • That some tent shaming if I ever saw one.

  • +1

Expensive still, really worth it ?😗

All ultralight equipment is pricy. As soon as you go less then 1.5kg for 1 person prices go up dramatically.

Might be cheaper to hire a sherpa to carry your heavy tent. 😂

    • +1

Stuff that. I m hiring a sherpa to give me a piggy back ride up a mountain.

    • An in a case of emergency you can cook it. For sure better option

      • +1

        Cook the sherpa?

  • Can always go for Lanshan or Xushang tent, if you use trecking poles.

    • Plenty of other options for trekking poles but I personally don’t like and don’t use them

  • You can get the 2 persons version in Australia for $530. Given the only slight different weight between UL1 and UL2 - I will probably go with UL2. Otherwise would have been a good deal if this was for UL2.

    • +1

You can and I was thinking of getting ul 2 but $100 is $100. For a skinny person like me it’s a good deal

  • Fair enough mate, hope you enjoy the tent! I have a naturehike vik 1 and naturehike cloudup 2. One day I will justify investing in a Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL2!

    • +3

From what I’ve heard naturehike are great and for the price they are being sold it’s a bargain.

  • Aw, why do I always have to be the one to share with big Agnes?

  • Mmmm only ~215cm internal length.

    Steep sidewalls at least.
But I have lost confidence in so many tent manufacturers if you are >6ft tall.
Once you factor in the stack height of your pad and bag it doesn't take much to be touching sidewalls.

If I only hiked in perfect weather like some people do it'd be fine…

    • I'm the same, due to my height (6ft5) I have to assume I'm 2 people because of the need to sleep diagonally.

  • BigAgnes gear gets a good rap on all the adventure bike set ups, tents, mats, bags etc.

    Definitely worth a look.

I'd like to see that 'nature hike' gear in person, I've shied away from it, based on how cheap it is.

    • its pretty good, but i cant compare it to brands like BA or MSR.
Dollar for gram though, naturehike is pretty damn good, and the Lanshan 1 is a great single setup for the price also if you dont have hundreds

  • +1

I remember these were over $1000 before the NatureHike cloudup's came along and smashed the price barrier. So happy with the NatureHike's I own that I have never been able to justify buying an Agnes to do a in-depth side-by-side comparison. Still this is a great price for a Big Agnes.

Nah Big Agnes has always been an affordable brand, its just typical Australia tax that doubles or even triples the prices.

Another example is Sierra Designs, one of the cheapest brands from MooseJaw etc and I used to import a fair bit, but then they decided OH WAIT A MINUTE and some selfish Aussie distributor went DON'T LET PEOPLE IMPORT THAT!
So the price doubles and you are forced to buy through them.

I own the Naturehike and am extremely happy with it.
