Which store did you buy from? 68 is cheaper than Porlex Mini, I might give it a go
Coffee Talk Store had a recent sale. Received my JX within 2 weeks which was surprisingly fast.
Do you have a link for the JX that you bought? How much did you pay?
Yeah Coffee Talk store is where I got mine. They have sales all the time - Looks like its $79 on the 11th
That's before GST, so about $86 after GST.
It shows as $AU163.79 for 11.11 for me. Am I looking at the wrong place? Is there a place to get it for $AU86?
When was that? The cheapest I've seen them on AliExpress has been 55 USD + GST, with free shipping (approx 84 AUD).
Genuinely curious how this is better than the $10 one from the previous deal.
ThanksIdk what the previous deal was.
But if you're comparing this to a $10 grinder, I'd say the latter doesn't have burrs that are: steel, aligned properly, adequate grooves to name a few. In fact, I'd say they're probably not even burrs, just blades.
That means zero grind consistency. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to get filter grind from it, let alone espresso grind. Also build quality would probably be shocking. Honestly for $10, you're better off just buying ground coffee from Aldi.
Previous was this one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/577424
Considering I didn’t understand much from your explanation, I’d say I’ll manage with my $10 grinder, thanks though!
If none of the above explanation matters to you, then a cheapy will do you just fine. Coffee drinkers who are a bit more of a hobbyist/enthusiast would likely spend more money on ways to extend their coffee experience by buying more expensive equipment and resources.
That $10 grinder is likely to give you poor results. You have to spend time and effort, grinding for those poor results.
Why not buy a pre-ground coffee and save yourself the time and effort? I know why buying beans is a better choice. I am thinking a grinder that gives you inconsistent grind might end up with worse coffee than a well done pre-ground. Pre-ground won't be as fresh but at least it will extract evenly.
Hmmmm this or xeoleo?
I was choosing between the two and ended up going for the Timemore because it seemed like a step up in quality, and chose to get it from AliExpress so it ended up cheaper than buying the XEOLEO locally.
Oh nice ! Steel burr! No more chips when hitting a stone
got mine for 68 from Aliexpress if you're willing to wait.
