What type of leisure does it generate

Jacking up the price hoping Ozbargainers won't notice

      • -1

yes. it was. we try to keep the price low, so it can be a benefit to our customers. all the other stores all sell them for $1900 or more.

        • +1

Personally I think I'd wander into my local Honda dealer to see if they'd price-match or beat it… Without having to cover the shipping they may be able to do a better price…

So its been cheaper recently and currently there's another retailer that has it cheaper. Not looking good.

    • You are a good investigative reporter

  • Can we use the $250 Honda Dollars to reduce the cost to $1,619?

    • sorry.the $250 is only applied to last year's promotion 2019 which can be found on the ads. honda is not doing the $250 anymore.

  • i dont own a 4x4 and its cheaper elsewhere

  • A whole lot of words in the description but none of them state how much power the generator makes….. ??

  • How is this one comparing to Yamaha generators?

  • This generator is not legal in the Queensland National Parks that allow generators even for medical purposes (maximum is 2.0 Kva,) also this unit has a noise level of 91dB at 4mtrs were the National parks have a maximum level of 65dB at 7 m so I would doubt that it would conform there as well.

Just put it in the tent with you to muffle the noise. I'm sure it will also help you sleep.

    • That is incorrect.

The level quoted is the Sound Power Level.

Think of it like a light bulb - the bulb may be 60W no matter where you put it but the brightness depends on how far away you are.

Sound Power Level of 91dBA corresponds to a Sound Pressure Level (SPL) of 66dBA at 7m. Still above Parks level but barely.

That level is probably at full power. At 1/4 load, which is what a lot of manufacturers quote Sound Pressure Level at, the SPL will typically be 6-8dBA lower.

      • So what is incorrect?

        • You wrote "91dB at 4mtrs". That is incorrect.

          • @seb: Nothing incorrect about that at all it is the figure they quote for OPERATING NOISE LEVEL and the figure that the rangers will go by.

            • @coin saver: Out of interest, where did you get the 2kVA info cs? It's not in the policy document

I'm not a fan of generators in NPs and rangers can be officious but they should follow the rules, not invent their own. As seb says 91 LWA at 4m equates to ~66 dBA at 7m - quarter throttle according to Honda - so marginal and not discernable.

            • @coin saver: Turns out we were talking about different things. You were correctly quoting the website, except the website is wrong. I ignored the website and was quoting the actual Honda specs.

Lw means Sound Power Level - the "4m" should not be included and is irrelevant.

The Operating Noise Level for generators is usually quoted as either Sound Power Level or as Sound Pressure Level at 7m. Sound Power Level is rigidly defined and can't be fudged.

At different distances, it should be straightforward: Sound Pressure Level = Sound Power Level - 20*Log( distance ) - 8

So, Sound Pressure Level varies with distance but Sound Power Level is fixed for a given engine at a given power output. Australian and International Standards quote Sound Power Level and not Sound Pressure Level for machine output as Sound Pressure Level is very easy to fudge - just measure further away from the machine or behind a fence. No idea how a Park Ranger is supposed to know what to do - anyone can put a sticker on a machine that says "65dBA".

You can get it at this price and package with cover and few other goodies from generator place(i think I get emails from them once a month offering the same deal)

It's a good generator but you pay for the name..

Grey nomads use them to power their air con…

If you are a greenie and don't want a generator, then spend 8000+ and go solar with lithium.
