Really good price for a nice smart tv. Despite it's from COTD.

  • +1

you should quote delivery fee, they are significant (up to $100)

aldi's also got the 47" deal for $799

    • around $40 shipping unless u live in woop woop…

      great price!

      • +1

qld in $60. i wouldn't consider that whoop whoop :)

        • close enough ;-)

  • +2

Looks good. The 47" 3D FullHD 100Hz LED for $799 at ALDI looks good as well.

Alot better then the ALDI TV though, i.e.

400Hz refresh rate v 100 Hz refresh rate
    4ms Response time v 6ms Response time
The borders are alot thinner on this one.

Postage kills it for me though.

3D support on Toshiba.. 100 hz will not able to support 3D. Minimum is 200hz.

      • +1

        100 hz can support 3d

      • +2

Well if you have a look at the link above, it's plastered all over the Aldi site that it's 3D. It also includes 4 pairs of glasses, suggesting it's using a passive 3D tech. And if it is using passive, likely alternating lines on the TV polarized in the opposite directions, then the minimum refresh rate would be as fast as the standard picture, 60Hz. Hence, 100Hz is fine.

  • $1098 from Big Brown Box — free shipping to Melbourne

Nice find, its states their the RRP is $1299, COTD reckon its RRP $2329 LOL

    • Also note that BBB price matches, and looking at their conditions:

Product for price match must be identical and brand new in the box
Product must be in stock or readily available with an authorised vendor (no auctions)
Product must be listed on the Big Brown Box website
The price you want us to match must have been publicly advertised within the last 30 day

This should mean you could match it for $1029 (for Vic residents, have to include COTD shipping) no? Then again the benefit of this seems minimal, unless you really wanted to get an extended warranty through BBB.

      • +1

BBB has now dropped their price to $989 to avoid the price match. Plus they offer free delivery to my area!
So Bbb is now the cheapest.

        • Just beat me to posting that :P

Also, a review. The gist of it seems to be great tv, great list of included features, very good picture quality on the panel, but don't bother if good 3D is what you're after.

Another $90 OFF, use code: toshibaTV

        • +2

This looks like war, and I most certainly approve in this case :P Gj on the competition guys!

        • BBB is no good over CotD if you are met with this when entering your postcode for delivery:
We unfortunately cannot deliver to your chosen location.

    • Thats not really cheap.
The price is fairly okay, but Bauhn start going on sale this Saturday. The TV is equivalent to Sony in style and crystal clear images.

      http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_19882.htm?WT.mc_id=20…

Its cheaper and its 47" has 4 3D glasses and also 3 HDMI ports which is really good.
      At $799 that's a steal!

      • Why copy and paste the same thing thing in different sections of the post?

And This is a great price for this Tv, the two aren't really comparable. This is far superior

  • what is the advantage over plasma though, why would you get this over the samsung 51" which was only about $750.

    • the lights don't dim when you switch an LCD TV on.

Just bought one guys! Thanks COTD! I was looking at a 46" LED 3D TV for some time now and this one is definitely within my budget! Cheers!!

Nice find but try reading the other postings in the thread first, It was found almost 8hrs ago. :)

      • +1

      • Yup. And COTD has a $90 off code which beats Big Brown Box's price depending delivery. I live in NSW so the total price came to $949 delivered! See above for COTD discount code.

Is this a full LED TV or just edge lit LED? Seems like its being made less and less clear about this by manufacturers these days. Could be because they dont want to confuse consumers with more tech talk.

    • The Gadgetguy review describes it as backlighting, and hints at local dimming
"The LED backlight adjusted its brightness according to the picture content, and was able to apply different brightness levels to different parts of the screen." (emphasis added)
But i9t goes on to say that the active 3D is terrible (which is fine if you don't care for 3D)

  • correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the optimal refresh rate 120Hz?

I hate the LCD tv's nowadays that make the motion look abnormal.

I can't quite remember where i read, but it's got something to do with refresh rates synching with frame rates synching with PAL/NTSC. Where 120Hz = 24fps *5. Can anyone add more to this?

  • Anyone know what this tv (or other 3d tvs are like for gaming?)

I played on my friends samsung led tv (no 3d) and there was slight ghosting, but more importantly, input lag which was unacceptable.

And before anyone comments on the 4ms refresh, remember that the scaler also matters. ie

"The LED backlight adjusted its brightness according to the picture content, and was able to apply different brightness levels to different parts of the screen." - this sounds like a processing feature which may cause input lag.

edit: serious gaming. not like, mashers.

    • It is great for serious gaming as long as you turn on game mode. Sounds like your friend left his in regular cinema mode.

  • It'd be interesting to know how this compared/ranked compared to other brands top models. Also wish they would also show the remote - I hate a bad remote.

    • The remote isn't bad. Can't believe how crap the Toshiba site is at informing the consumer. Have to download the manual to get info on all the features. The online content 'Toshiba Places' begins and ends with Youtube. Pvr is pretty bad too, but all TV ones are. Better off using separate devices for this. Speakers have decent size/power for a flat panel. So basically it's a pretty good picture no frills 2d tv (since the 3d sounds like it's not too good).

  • Bauhn 47" LED LCD TV starts going on sale this Saturday. The TV is equivalent to Sony in style and crystal clear images. This is a much better deal than the Toshiba.

plus 60 days return policy, so if its shit, its going back to Aldi

I'm sold on the Aldi tv

reading all the reviews about this Toshiba tv

      Its a piece of shit

      • Not really a valid neg.

      • +2

        please explain "Piece of shit"?

      • I hate COTD of twisting the description of items and delayed delivery times.
But still, its not a valid reason for you to neg the current deal.
