  • Amazing price.

  • How does this rate?
    Wanted to try it out.

    • +1

It's a good bourbon for mixing. Dunno about drinking straight as I always mix it.

I thought $38 the other week was a bargain, so this price is great.

    • +9

I find Jim Beam black tastes better than Wild Turkey. WT tastes rougher, quality is somewhere between a Johnnie Red and Johnnie Black in Scotch terms.

    • +6

It's the higher end of the basic bourbons.

If I had my order out of the basics I would say:

      1. Wild Turkey
      2. Jack Daniels
      3. Jim Beam

Over ice is fine. Many people mix it with Coke…

        • +1

          You savage.

            • @jv: And our sins.

              • @iDroid: True…

I have Boost, Telstra and Vodafone ones…

        • +2

Tell you what Jv… with all those negs i think some people would be surprised when they found out what mixer is used in a JDs premix… it ain't coke…

In saying that. Using pepsi by choice to mix is on par with treason 😂

        • +1

I mix it with Pepsi Max and it's awesome! no sugar, mind you.

          • @Asx10000: Just don't try it with Diet Coke.

      • +3

        Makers Mark
        Wild Turkey
        Jack Daniels
        Jim Beam

        • makers mark is overrated when you drink it as a staple unfortunately. too sweet.

          • @Jugganautx: Makers Mark is (was last time I bought it) smooth and doesn't give me a hangover. The price though.. White Label is best all round.

          • @Jugganautx: I find Turkey is sweeter than Makers.

Buffalo Trace is nice too albeit on the sweet side.

      • +10

        Let me fix that

        1 wild Turkey
        2 jack Daniels
        3 dirt
        4 dog shit
        ….
        100 Jim beam

    • It's pretty good, you can drink it straight. I find it tastes better and is smoother than Makers Mark.

      • Good to know. I didn’t mind Makers Mark, but it wasn’t the easiest to drink.

      • I guess its of personal taste :)
I prefer Makers Mark straight or on the rocks and Wild Turkey with Coke etc. as opposed as the other way around.

    • +1

I really couldn't get into this bourbon. It just tastes rough like Chivas 12y… The American honey version of Wild Turkey isn't too bad though. Prefer Woodford a lot better. Or Rittenhouse if the budget is higher.

      • I agree. There are a shit tonne of bourbons that taste better than Wild Turkey imo. The honey version is OK neat.

      • American honey is great, but for me personally, I have to have it with the 40% less sugar sprite or it's too sickly sweet. that smell though. amazing.

    • don't think you can get anything better for less than $40

  • Now that the quarantine is over, do I need more alcohol?

    • +3

How else will you sanitise properly? :D

      • U need something more than 75% alc

        • +4

Depends on whether you're sanitising the outside or the inside. ;-)

        • Cheers, got two, thanks for the tip.

    • +4

I wouldn't be asking the guy who's username is Sambuca!

    • I dont get it…

      • Ask Dan, he posted it…

        • Oh right. That news article is a bit sensationalist though. Unfortunately $119 bottles are commonplace now and not even considered most expensive or anything. Besides Victorians under lock down pretty much got jobkeeper or jobseeker for the whole six month.

            @Fuzor:

Besides Victorians under lock down pretty much got jobkeeper or jobseeker for the whole six month.

Nah… Lots lost their jobs when this started, they don't get jobkeeper. Jobseeker has restrictions too.
Also, lots of small business don't qualify for jobkeeper, even those that can't trade.

      • First question he was asked at yesterday's press conference was "will you be getting on the beers tonight" his response was along the lines of "something a bit higher up the shelf" which led to the photo of scotch.

    • +6

He's actually supporting a Melbourne distillery.

  • It's a good bourbon, for the price it's amazing.Next cheapest would be Maker's Mark for $45.

  • $34.54 with the DM gift card

    • -5

      They accept Deutsche Marks??

Whats that your fourth post on this deal? Keep trying, one might be remotely funny

Whats that your fourth post on this deal?

Are you keeping a tally of everyone's posts?

What are you using? Excel pivot tables?

          Ahhh
Wouldn't be a normal day without downvoting jv

But I do enjoy the banter

          • +2

@Drakesy: Let me know when jv actually brings the banter…

            still waiting

  • -1

It’s better than JW black , that stuff is garbage .

    • +5

Ones scotch and ones bourbon, very different to compare.

  • +1

Thanks, bought 6 from Amazon 😂

  • Ordered one, will be the first time for this one.

    • +3

You'll always remember your first time.

      • +1

As long as the effect lasts for greater than 2 minutes 25 seconds!

  • -2

Nice over ice….oh yeah and it's not Scotch,it's Bourbon.Big difference. The former tastes like Mongolian wrestlers jock strap (excuse pun) and the other like something sweet and easy to drink over ice after a long day's wading and fishing..

  • +1

    Great price! Amazon OOS.

  • Good timing. Just on my last drop from the last deal

    Thanks OP.

  • Good quality for a cooking whisky! Almost out of my makers mark I use for it, so nabbed one of these.

    • don't forget that's only a 500ml bottle (for $40) . Versus WT 700ml (for $36)

      • Whisky click of the day

      • Not only that it is 15% alcohol vs 43.4%!

        • Also it’s 100% plums, so 115% total.

  • Can't be beaten at this price!

  • Whilst we’re on topic anyone had Longbranch or Rare Breed? Just a smoother version?

    • +2

Rare breed is great. I don't care for long branch at all. Wild Turkey 101 is also great.

    • Longbranch is smooth and goes well mixed.

  • A good deal for a good drink
