  • Vodafone has been doing the same price for a few months.
Anything better in this offer I might not notice?

    • Unlocked…? I doubt voda would be selling unlocked…

      • +4

Nexus S phones can't be locked

        Edit:
        Unique Mobiles - Faster delivery
Vodafone - Should come with a Sim card (but who actually wants to use Vodafone prepaid?)

        • Why can't Nexus S phones be locked?

        • +3

because they are developer's phone and google does not allow them to be locked.

      • Nexus S from Voda is also unlocked.

        • +4

In that case maybe Uniquemobiles might do a better price for us wink wink ;)

        • +1

          Plus:

Don't have to deal with vodafone, massive plus. They screwed me around and ended up cancelling my transaction without notice. Needed to call them repeatedly to find out what was happening. Even then they didn't tell me what was going on …. vodafone never again.

        • -5

Last time when it was $299, I went into a Vodafone shop and paid with my debit card, no fuss. Ant-Ant yours is just your problem. This is not really a deal.

    • +1

I think the difference here is that it is unlocked.

      Edit: beat me by 57secs

      • -3

You just need to go into a Vodafone shop and buy it outright. It comes unlocked already.

        • its $299 instore. is it worth negging?

        • +1

I thought the price in store has dropped too. But it's $269 online on Vodafone website, and you get it in a few days compared to a week that is stated here.

  • Isn't the i9023 the one WITHOUT the SAMOLED screen?

    • -3
      • i9020 - SAMOLED
i9023 - some sort of LCD (maybe SLCD?)

Australia got the i9023 due to shortages of the SAMOLED from suppliers to make them all SAMOLED. Note that there's a slight thickness difference between the two. Some cases for one type won't fit the other.

Vodafone sells the i9023, not the i9020.

I got a i9020 from smoothmobiles about 4 months or so ago. Paid a fair bit more than this though. If the i9023s had been this price back then, I wouldn't have bothered with the i9020. Comparing my i9020 to my mate's i9023, the screens look pretty darn similar. The LCD on the i9023 is pretty good.

        • Yes it is a SLCD. It is slightly thicker and you have to get cases which are meant for the i9023

        • Thanks for the info, cause I am concidering buying this phone.

      • i9020 SAMOLED i9023 SLCD

      • +2

My bad, please accept my appologies. The i9023 is without the SAMOLED screen.

  • Yes G? teehee

  • Voda Nexus S is unlocked

  • "no locks or contracts" is just to make you think there's a difference between theirs and the ones in Vodafone shops which is not true. Because it's the same price and with Vodafone I could get one in the same day (if not same hour), I therefore give this "deal" a negative vote.

    • +1

The Vodafone stores I've been to said the 10% off is online only

    • +1

OK, apparently in store is still $299, but online Vodafone is selling at $269 outright, you'll get it in 2-5 days depending on when you ordered and where you live. And you get warranty with Vodafone so if there's anything you can just bring to your nearby shop. My negative vote is because the price is not any cheaper, and the misleading item description.

  • +2

Note that voda gives you a two year warranty.

  • Voda's got it on sale for $269. 10% off sale online plus free delivery http://shop.vodafone.com.au/mobile-details/Nexus-S

  • +1

Just ordered one and got further 5% discount using discount code found on ozbargain. All up cost me $258.30 delivered. Better than Vodafone.

    • +2

Thanks for reminding the "FIVEOFF" code. Total 255.55 delivered.

    • +2

If use MoneyBackCo to order through Vodafone, you can get another 10% off, which makes the final price about $242.

  • How does this compare to HTC Incredible S @ $269?

    • +1

I was deciding between them too but chose the Nexus
      http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3910&idPhone2=…

      Incredible S vs Nexus S
      8MP vs 5MP
      720p vs WVGA recording
Gorilla glass vs scratch resistant glass
MicroSD slot vs no expandable memory
      Locked vs unlocked
      Optus branded vs vanilla

Faster CPU on Incredible (I think but Nexus has a faster GPU)
Nexus S (with Voodoo) possibly has the best audio quality you can get on a phone

    • +2

My friend bought the nexus s (NS) from voda and i bought my gf has the incredible s from the kmart sale. So this my personal opinion:

      • incredible s (IS) has a better camera
      • IS has a better feel and build quality (although both are made of plastic, the nexus s is made of very shiny and fingerprint prone back cover - no problem if you get a case though).
      • NS looks better as the phone is completely back with a curved screen.
      • IS has htc sense whereas NS runs pure android. I think the NS is a bit faster without the htc overlay on top and is going to be upgraded very soon to 4.0.
      • NS has no led notification whereas IS does.
      • IS is locked to optus and the NS isn't.
      • IS comes with bloatware that is not removeable unless you root it.
      • NS is non-expandable whereas the IS is and comes with a 16gb card and is expandable to 32 gb.
      • IS has a radio whereas the NS does not.

Overall though I would choose the Nexus S but i don't really think you can go wrong with either choice

    • Where to buy for $269?

      • +1

Last time it was available through K-Mart. Now it should be available in Optus shops..

        • No more from Optus shops.

  • This isn't meant for telstra is it ?

  • After all the comments, is the deal going to be updated.
    Free screen protector and case?
    Reduce price?
    Anything?

    • Hi, Sorry this deal can not be updated, we always offer the best available price we can straight up. This price also includes Free Express shipping to your door.
Also this offer is doing very well and we only have limited stock.

  • Good deal!

Even though Vodafone has the same price, not dealing with the fools at Vodafone is a huge plus.

    • agree

      • Is the 2 year warranty from vodaphone worth the potential problems?

        • I am not sure but have read somewhere that all Samsung mobile phones sold in Australia comes with standard two years warranty. If that is true, this one should also have a two years warranty as its an Australian stock.

        • Once you dealt with vodafail customer service over phone, you'll know.

        • Looks like the standard warranty is 1 year, but the vodaphone service sounds rubbish.

  • +1

Ordered my Nexus S yesterday, received 24 hours later. Not bad. Thanks Unique Mobiles.

    • Also received mine quite quickly. But have you noticed that the phones supplied by Unique are actually the Vodaphone prepaid ones. Mine has the Voda stickers removed from the package with the seal already opened. Stored email exchanges also confirmed this as the set has been used to activate the new Voda sim to get new number. Quite dodgy.

  • Yes I noticed that also but didn't know what to make of it at the time.

  • so you guys ended up with basically used vodaphone handsets with 1 year less warranty. sounds like a great deal, sorry but where is the explanation by uniquemobiles?

    • Hi, Unless handsets are specifically advertised with " No network software " they are generally unlocked by our Technicians. I can assure you that all Mobile Phones are 100% Brand New and include full manufacturer warranty from date of purchase.
