Smile.com.au won't cover Medical Bills, only Dental, and even then you wouldn't be getting cover, just a Discounted Rate with
Smile approved Dentists. (That said, no waiting period).Have a look at HIF.com.au for Extras (2 Month Wait unless transferring from other Health Insurer)

Long answer: I was with them 2 years ago but cancelled after a month of joining and got full refund. Smile provides a discount on the treatment from the dentist. But it is hard know the actual price of the treatment. Smile don't even verify that with the dentist. Treatment prices vary from dentist to dentist and treatment to treatment. In my case the dentist inflated the price and then applied the smile discount on a check up and clean. I caught the scam but calling the same dentist as a new patient and they quoted me the same price without the smile discount.
You are better off getting an Extras insurance or find a reasonably priced dentist like I did. I got my two wisdom teeth removed for $220 with the scammy dentist quoted me $550 after smile discount.
Do you recall which dentist that was for the 2 wisdom teeth? That's a great price (but too late for me).

I think smile is more useful if you're in a particular area with a supported dentist and you need something big done.
