Good quality thumb drive but not sure if this is a good price for it.

This was the last deal on these USB sticks. Fulfilled by Amazon US. Takes approx a month to arrive.
RRP for these is between $79-$99

      • Wasn't saying it's not a good deal just saying I don't know if it is or isn't. Only can vouch for its quality.

Only can vouch for its quality.

We use the Samsung Bar 16 Gb for work. Hard to find those 16 Gb so my last two died.
My colleague read few posts about sticking them in the oven and "bake" them for almost an hour. It worked and we are able to resume using them to configure Cisco kit.

@sanmigueelbeer: woah big brain! reflowed the solder hey?

          • @sanmigueelbeer: Wow, then the soldering quality was terrible… One we could say it was just bad luck, if two in a row were with the same problem, it's almost definitely quality control issue.

  • I got a 64gb one of these, and whilst I love it, my experience has been max 60mbps transfer rates (i'm an EE and done IT stuff on the side so i'm no noob)
Dunno why, but it's a hell of a lot better than a lot of other drives for stability cos the whole thing is a heatsink - I got this sandisk ultra fit 32gb and at the beginning it was aaamaaazing (super fast transfer rates) but now it gets saturated with heat and after maybe 10sec of max speed, it hits zero and then throttles going up and down as the temperature fluctuates. So i'm not sure if i just got a bad samsung one, but it's still hella good!

The fit's are great hey they need to make a USB c variant though! I haven't noticed throttling I have one as a test boot drive for mac. It seems fine enough. If you want more sustained speed just get a small capacity SAMSUNG T5 or T7

    • Well, could you be more specific on transfer rates? Were you serious it's 60mbps not 60mBps? Also, typically there can be huge difference between reading/writing speed. I have two 128GB version and the reading speed is okay(100+mBps), the writing speed is much worse. If I remembered correctly, writing speed dropped to below 30mBps even below 20mBps some times.

For SanDisk, I never had a good impression so I'm not surprised to hear whatever comments.

In general, despite the capacity is getting bigger and bigger, the quality of thumb drives are getting worse and worse. I had some USB 2.0 one which could deliver both r/w around 30mBps stably. I already have quite a few so called USB 3.0 ones can only be written to under 10mBps.

  • Can you make 50 bucks free delivered?
