Is this supposed to make me feel better about still not having my 3080?

    • Rx 6900xt is gonna make you feel bad about your 3080 :)

      • Good thing it hasn't arrived yet then

  • Crazy how stagnant GPUs have been for so many years, this chip is over 4 years old and price has barely changed.

    • +2

To be fair the performance of newer gpus have gone up 500% but the price has also gone up 500%

  • How does this compare with the GTX 1650 Super?

    • +2

According to techpowerup it's about 17% slower (about 10fps-ish at 1080p ultra settings).

      • Thanks!

  • This card default oc'd to 1370 in AMD software (not Asus GPU Tweak II which sets to 1310). I have matched with 3300X and B550M and is excellent cheap system. I paid $215 pick up from Umart and am still happy at that price.

    • It should have some more OC'ing headroom left.

I have a Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 4GB that I've been running at 1450Mhz on the core and 2000Mhz on the RAM clock for years now without issue.

if i was looking at a $200-$250 card then this is probably best bang for buck for 1080p

    • How much better is 1660S compared to this?

  • so 18 months ago I bought this card but the 4GB version for the same price so. I can't say it's horrible value really, I am happy with mine, just not sure what the larger VRAM buffer gives, especially for a 1080p card. Maybe low detail 1440 or 4K? Might be interesting.

    • Better quality textures at most but at the end of the day it's still a mid-ranger card that wasn't designed for higher than 1080p games.

You can still go 1440p but it might not hit 60fps

    • just not sure what the larger VRAM buffer gives, especially for a 1080p card.

Nothing, because at higher resolutions like 1440 or 4K, your FPS is going to be so piss-poor because the the RX 570s/RX 580s are absolutely not designed for 1440/4K gaming, that all of that extra VRAM intended for higher AA/AF levels and other advanced rendering effects simply won't matter one iota.

That's why it's pointless buying the 8GB versions of the RX 570 or RX 580 if they're going for a lot more than $200 dollars. If you can snag them for around $200 dollars, then fine but anymore than $225 is really not worth it.

      • would the bigger vram help with bigger textures in the game, even if it is still in 1080p?

  • Oh, I was wondering if this would be better than my old GTX980 but it seems this (RX 570) is a really slow graphics card

  • still cant find anything 200$ish brand new can beat this card. got the same exact model 2 years ago with 200$, it is a champ.

    • +1

You really can't. Though the even better performance-per-dollar ratio was the RX 580 4GB when it's been offered for this price.

It really goes to show you how stagnant GPU advancements have been and how Moore's Law has become totally irrelevant in today's semiconductor industry.

    • whats the max refresh rate Hz have you tried it so far?

    SE sells rx580 msi for 220-230…why would u buy a 570 for 200 when extra 20-30 can get u the 580?

  • Well, I really haven't seen anything exciting in the video card arena lately. Where are the new cards & where are the run-out bargains? Everything is pretty much still retail pricing with very few exceptions.

    • This week when 3070 and 6900xt release, everything will drop, I think on Back Friday a lot of cards will be on sale, aiming for a $400 - $450 2070 super.

  • Should I grab this now or go for 1650 super on black Friday?

    • got a 1650 super for $189, glad i waited :)
