The Dreame D9 is mostly similar to the F9 size, 35cm x 35cm x10cm. This is purposely designed to house the LiDAR navigation system which means greater accuracy in navigation; unlocking advance map memory and room recognition functionality such as multi-rooms and selected area cleaning, virtual walls, vaccum no-go zones and mop no-go zones.

Dreame D9 will have Multi-maps ( upto to 3 maps) support via firmware update. This will allow Dreame D9 to map and operate on multiple levels within the same house.

Other key hardware features of the Dreame D9 includes:

4 levels of suction mode with up to 3,000Pa of suction power.

5,200mAh battery for up to 2.5hours of operation time; and extended further when combined with “Smart Top-up” function. This feature enables the Dreame D9 to top-up for more power during a cleaning session; and continue the clean when the appropriate level of battery is reached.

    • Curious on this too.
Mine arrived late last week, two whole house vacuums in and human hair definitely builds up, albeit not restrictively on the brush, “asking for a friend” who has pets. 👍🏻

  • I was looking for a handheld vacuum cleaner and finally landed on this spending hours reading and watching YouTube. Hard work to decide to buy something…

  • Hi,
I've followed the instructions and sent Dreame D9 Gearbite Member Exclusive to your messenger account but not received any code yet. Has this deal expired?

    • Still ok, please send oz message or messenger, will happy to help.

  • How long will the received code be valid for? I have just received one. Would rather wait for some reviews comparing it to roborock and the F9 versions for example

  • Does the D9 package come with a 'cleaning tool'? I noticed it in the manual, but I couldn't find it in the box.

    • +1

It's inside the hatch on the top.

      • Found it. Thanks.

  • Quick review, the device only have 1 side brush, which was I was a bit surprised, but cleaning has being fantastic.

    Few things I to note:

    1. It doesn't auto detect carpet or hard floor, may just be my expectation.
    2. Didn't detect the rooms/zones properly, and I haven't figure out how to do new zones.
    3. Not sure what does "cleaning the restricted Area" mean, there isn't a feature to set restricted area, or at least the wording is not consistent.
    4. Not sure where to buy parts.

All in all I am amazed at the cleaning capability, both hardwood floor and carpet are spotless, each time collects heads of crap. Highly recommended, can only imagine some of the other more expensive model are even more amazing! can't believe I haven't bought this earlier.

    • +1

      Please check below

      1. It doesn't auto detect carpet or hard floor, may just be my expectation. You can set up no mop zone for carpet area, you also can turn on carpet boost feature at device setting section, once vacuum detect your carpet, it will boost the suction.

      2. Didn't detect the rooms/zones properly, and I haven't figure out how to do new zones. You can merge or divide room at Map management.

      3. Not sure what does "cleaning the restricted Area" mean, there isn't a feature to set restricted area, or at least the wording is not consistent. You can set no mop zone, no go zone, virtual wall at this section.

      4. Not sure where to buy parts. Parts will available shortly at our store.

      • Thank you, I know where to do it, it just wont let me.

"Didn't detect the rooms/zones properly, and I haven't figure out how to do new zones. You can merge or divide room at Map management."

Will see if there are any youtube videos…

    • I couldn't get around making it clean a certain squared up area either. Need more time to play with it I guess

  • +4

I had my doubts when I brought this thing…will it actually work as advertised or be a piece of cheap copy cat tech…

Luckily I was so impressed I had to write a review here for anyone thinking on it.

I’m like a kid with a new toy, expectations truly exceeded with the D9.

Firstly, power is incredible, really sucks the crap out of our carpet with ease.

The product had a real premium feel out of the box, almost apple like.

The app is user friendly, does everything as advertised.

There is also a substantial user manual provided - which is refreshing these days!

Setup was easy, reminded me of my eufy gear setup which I found very streamlined and easy.

On first use the robot took off at first and mapped the house, then commenced its first clean cycle. You can schedule the time for cleaning and adjust power settings as you please. The lowest setting is still quite strong and not very noisy at all.

Completed our two bedroom townhouse in 45 mins - highest suction setting.

Have never owned a more expensive branded competitor but can’t imagine a reason why you need to so far.

Yes it is a luxury but for us the benefit this device provides as a robotic servant keeping our floors clean in between our deeper cleans is great.

Coming home to your carpet visibly ‘fresher’ and tiles clean is simply awesome.

Roborock's are more refined. I'm a huge fan and I've tried all Xiaomi and 360

  • How is the battery lasting for everyone?

I set it to the highest suckion power for my carpet…it only lasted 25 min cleaning 26m2 of area.

Also, does anyone find the D9 vacuum path pattern are a bit wiggly in its straight line moving?
    Mine must be drunk

    • +1

Hi Battery should last longer than that, please make sure fully charged. If you need any help, please send oz message , I will happy to follow up.

    • Runs 45mins and still only half way, highest setting. Cleaning area on the app says 50sqm.

      • Agree with everyone, battery dies from full in ~40-50 mins..OP any setting we need to change

        • +1

For me it’s doing 50sqm in 45mins with 50% left on the battery. About half of that coverage is short hair carpet. I also have it jacked up to the highest setting.

I suggest contacting OP for another unit. I don’t believe it has anything to do with the setting.

The only thing I haven’t tried is the mop function on its highest setting, while vacuuming, as it’s just too much water. If your doing this maybe that’s where the battery is draining more than mine…

          • @ImpulseMan: Your usage/percentages align with mine, approx 45-50% carpet and 98min for 96m2 before needing to go back to base, Max power on carpet setting is enabled, low power otherwise, no mopping included.
Of course this also included initial mapping function, which I imagine will diminish efficiency somewhat, versus using a standard-low power setting throughout with pre-determined map/s.

Also would recommend getting in touch with seller for further feedback/assistance, as I feel this is consistent with the potential 150mins (maximum) runtime if run on lowest suction setting

  • +2

Can anybody please comment a bit more about the mopping function? Does it do an OK job at removing stains on tiles? Does it leave water streaks? Thanks!

  • Hey @Gearbite

I am planning to buy it through catch.com.au Gearbite and I was wondering if I would get 60 Days Money back Guarantee through Catch Gearbite

    • Yes, same policy.

  • How high of a step can this robot climb? I have a slight transition between rooms and hallway.

    • 2cm

      • Thank you. Also, do the brushes for the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 1st Gen fit this model also?

  • Purchased one to replace a 3 year old Xiaomi Mi.

    I've had poor results so far;

It has been unable to return to the base on 3 occasions, even after remapping.
Have tried it both at night and during the day to see if that made a difference, got lost again this morning.

The mapping is shocking, whether it be because of a mirror in the hallway, or glass sliding doors along the kitchen / dining room.
The cleaning pattern is also weird.

    https://imgur.com/a/yLuCgzg

Existing Xiaomi magnetic no go strips don't work.

We have tiles and a very small rug, which it can climb over no issue, but seems to turn on "carpet boost" after leaving the carpet.

I don't trust it enough to try the mopping function as yet, but will try a zoned clean of it if / when the map issues sort themselves out.

    • Sounds nothing like the experience I’ve had with mine, would definitely be engaging with the seller to resolve, I had minor issues, when I didn’t start its 2nd vacuum from the docking station after the initial mapping was complete. This threw my device’s initial map off and I had to start again, but since then it’s been super consistent, I just make sure to remove as many tricky obstacles as possible, the thing even overcomes clothes-horse legs and the base of my IKEA Poäng armchair without any dramas or stoppage.

I’ve also found that with each subsequent vac the zones that It’s auto identified or that I’ve refined get slightly more fine-tuned and may need slight adjustment over time to ensure the product isnt mopping where It should only vacuum, but otherwise so far so good.

    • Please contact us if vacuum acting funny, it should not work like that. Please make sure leave open space for your docking station, it will help the mapping. Regarding mirror, i will double check with dreame.

    • It looks your map still not finish, it will auto divided your map in to rooms and you can edit it manually as well. Please send message to us in oz. I will happy to help you out.

  • @Gearbite Having trouble connecting D9 to Amazon Alexa. Do you have instructions and what commands are possible?

    • +2

Work on instruction. Will send to you once avaialble.

  • Xiaomi Home app throwing app context error when I try to connect to the device after adding it, regardless of the region. I've tried China Mainland and Australia.

Edit: Deleting and reinstalling the app and now it works /shrug. I wiped all data for the app as a previous troubleshooting step so you would have thought that would have resolved it but go figure.

    • Please connect with Australian region, it should work.

  • @Gearbite
Is there any word about the firmware update for the Dreame F9 and when it will be released to the public?
It's urgently needed… 7 rooms show up as one room, after 4 different attempts to map our flat (each attempt had about 5-8 cleaning runs) - I'm struggling for 2 weeks now…
Or is there any way to join the test program and receive the test version firmware?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    • +1

Will submit around 8th Nov and customer will receive update around later Nov.

      • Got the update _1039. I installed it following the instructions, afterwards the robot rebooted.
BUT none of the teased new features and options are available for me… :(
*"no mop zone"*, *"manual assign room"* and *"carpet boost function"* are not showing up anywhere.

        Did I do something wrong?
Do we have to reset the F9 to factory settings to get the new functions?
Or did Dreame not include the new functions in the update?

        • +1

Hi Dreckbaer, I have double checked that dreame did not put no mop zone and manual assign room in new version but only at our test version. Manual assign room still need to do more testing. They fixed some bugs and highly improved vacuum positioning and map accurate. You should able to find carpet boost function at experimental features/carpet boost. If you still can not find it, please clear cache at mi home/profile/setting/clear cache. Then restart mi home app, please check again. I will check when Manual assign room and no mop zone will available and update here.

          • @Gearbite: Hi Gearbite, thanks for your fast answer.
I followed your instructions and emptied the cache of the app. Still there wasn't any carpet boost function available.
Next step I uninstalled the app, did a deep clean and reinstalled the app again, but still no carpet boost function in the experimental features.
I tried the app it on my Xiaomi Mi8 and on a Lenovo Tablet (clean install) but in both cases there wasn't any carpet boost function to choose from. Please check the pictures on https://imgur.com/a/I4Dd3t3
The only thing I didn't do is resetting the F9 to factory defaults.

            • +1

@Dreckbaer: Hi Dreckbaser, i am pretty sure carpet boost on 1039, i will check and let you know the instruction to get that done.

              • @Gearbite: Thank you! That would be great!

                • +1

@Dreckbaer: Hi Dreckbaser, checking with Dreame, please allow extra 3 days to get all update, carpet boost should available then.

                  • @Gearbite: Thank you Gearbite for your effort! Great customer service!
Will there be more features coming in 3 days, like manual assigning rooms?

                    • +1

@Dreckbaer: assigning room and no mop zone not in this update due to more testing needed. Carpet boost and map automatic update featurewill be ready around 3 day.

                      • @Gearbite: OK thank you!!
Please keep us up to date about the coming features. I know many are desperately waiting for manual room assignment function, because the F9 is really struggling there (see: https://imgur.com/a/yUbE2hU). I'm still thinking of returning the F9 just because of this room assignment.

                        • +1

@Dreckbaer: Assigned room still testing now, will let you know once ready.

  • Where is the cleaning tool accessory? It was not included in my box. Please let me know where to find it. Thanks

    • +1

Don’t worry, I found it. I can’t delete this comment. Sorry!

      • No problem.

  • Is this deal still on? I've sent FB messages on Monday 26 Oct and it said the deal has expired…

    • still be ok.

      • Ordered. Thank you. Any timeline for Dreame V12?

  • +1

Bought one, got it today. Installed smart skill Xiaomi home for Alexa, but it can't find the vacuum cleaner. Please advise how to link

    • Have same issue. OP says they’re working on the instructions and will let us know when available. One of the factors for getting it was because OP said there was Alexa integration (no Google yet)…

      • Same here. Got it for Alexa, but enabling Xiaomi home skills (the 3 available for Alexa) don't discover any devices.

  • Hi, I only have one map available and there are no updates for firmware.

When I take the d9 upstairs to clean, it won't clean, it will just try to return to the dock to charge and doesn't clean the new level at all.

How can I clean a new map?

    • Multiple maps will update this year. Will let you know once confirm.

      • When this year?

        • I will double check and let you know here.

          • @Gearbite: I’m also looking for the multiple maps option. Why would you put in the comparison table on page 1: “3 Maps via firmware update”? This makes it sound like it’s already available and a firmware update will give us the functionality for the D9.

You should put “firmware for 3 maps coming soon”. Just feel a bit misled thinking the D9 I bought had Alexa integration and 3 maps straight out the box.

            • @frugalfinds: Sorry for the confusion. I will update in the post. Alexa is working, waiting for instruction.

            • @frugalfinds: For Alexa, Please try instruction here

              • @Gearbite: Thanks. I tried it with the Mi Home skill but it does not work. I even tried disabling/re-enabling the skill.

However, I notice there is now the ‘Dreame’ skill for Alexa. I enabled that skill and now the D9 is connected to my Alexa. Please fwd my feedback onto the Dreame team to update their instructions on the site :)

                • @frugalfinds: Thanks for your feedback, i will forward feedback to dreame team.

                  • @Gearbite: @Gearbite - any ETA on the firmware for multi maps function for the D9?

                    • @frugalfinds: was been told later Dec but did not confirm.

                      • +2

@Gearbite: Latest firmware 3.5.8_1072 that was released late Dec 2020 only contains the following:

                        1. Bug fix
                        2. Optimize cleaning logic to improve user experience

^the above is so vague and it’s quite disappointing that the multi maps function was not included. Can you please confirm if this functionality is even coming?

Really hoping Gearbite&Dreame pull through because I’m starting to regret not getting the Roborock S5Max when it was CHEAPER than the D9 during black Friday sales.

                        • @frugalfinds: This update fixed map bugs, multi-map will update by next one, we will push and update here.

    Hi Everyone,

First comment ever on Ozbargain :) but just thought I would leave a comment to share my experience.

I bought the Dreame F9 as my first robot vacuum a couple of months ago on the previous Gearbite deal. Overall I was quite happy with the performance given the price tag, except for one issue: it constantly kept bumping into furniture and walls even with good lighting. A lot of the times it would be a reasonably soft bump, but a most of the times it would be hard enough to hear it from another room in the house.

So once I saw the Dreame D9 was released, I reached out to the Gearbite team and they kindly offered an exchange as it was within the first 60 days.

I have received the D9 and been using it for a couple of days and this is my experience so far:

    • D9 is a lot smarter and more efficient with navigation compared to the F9. I'm sure this is expected given the laser navigation system, but one thing I found a lot more convenient was that the F9 needed to do several clean ups to map my house, and there were times that the cleaning was interrupted or it was stuck somewhere and couldn't locate the base so the progress would be lost. To the extent that after few weeks of using it, it never finished fully mapping my house before I returned it. Whereas the D9 mapped the whole house super accurately within the first cleaning session, unlocking smart features straight away (I live in a 3 bedroom house).

    • my observation was that the F9 does a zig-zag cleaning method and in doing that, finds the boundaries of the space and when done, goes around to go over the perimeter. The D9 however defines the perimeter first, then cleans the inside. This shouldn't really make a difference for anyone imo, but the reason I'm mentioning it is this: by doing the above, when the D9 is cleaning the inside of the perimeter, the laser efficiently detects the walls and stops within a few cm and turns around which is great but this sometimes results in the brush and exhaust air pushing dust and rubbish into those corners and edges which it then never goes back to clean so it appears to me that the F9 did a better job at cleaning the perimeter (I hope this makes sense!).

    • the D9 is much more quieter at max suction power than the F9, even though it's 500pa more powerful.

    • this one is the only problem I have with the D9, but a major one. I have used the two vacs in the same house with the same setup and flooring. The F9 never got stuck onto the carpet fringe, maybe once or twine, but the D9 pretty much gets stuck on the carpet fringes almost every single time! It sucks the carpet string in and they get sort of half wrapped around the brush, and they it starts spinning around itself to avoid it which makes it worse and pretty much every single time I have to go and remove it and continue the clean up. I thought maybe it was because of the higher suction power so I tried it with couple of lower power settings and it didn't solve the problem. I find it a bit strange as they both seem to have the same wheels and brush modules? I did some research and it looks like this is a problem with some robot vacuums in general, so maybe the F9 was somehow better at this. But does anyone else have this issue? Or is there something I can do to help with this because everything else so far is really great about the D9..

    • having said the above point though, when that happens I remove the D9 from where it's stuck, it easily positions itself and continues the clean up, but whenever that happened with the F9, once you moved it a tiny bit, it failed to position itself and started a whole new clean up which I found really annoying, although it happened way less.

    • Thanks for your feedback, regarding problem, please send detail to me by oz message, i will happy to check for you.

    • Good review. I never really spend tjme looking at it go around edges

Hopefully what you say can be fixed up in a new software update

  • Any chance this will come with a waterproof mat similar to the s5 max? This prevent it from leaking water at the base station i assume when the mop is attached

    • I doesn't. Instead it sends you notifications when it's finished mopping so you can remove the mop pad.

  • +3

Okay, so I've been collating my thoughts to review this product. I was on the fence regarding robotic vacuum cleaners but with this deal and MBG, I pulled the trigger. This is my first robotic vacuum cleaner and will share some feedback so far.

The vacuum suction is impressive, it does clean the carpet well to my surprise. It picks up dog hair and dust extremely well. The max boost carpet detection works as advertised. I regularly keep it on low for the wooden floorboards and the boosts on the carpeted areas for optimal clean. I found the size of it to be reasonable, allowing for it to get in and under difficult places which is a huge plus. Tracking wise, initially, it works well even in low light scenarios but as discussed later, issues have been brewing.

The noise level is manageable. I appreciate the low suction mode as its quite quiet. Even on the highest setting perfectly reasonable for a vacuum. I found the voice levels loud and audible and conveyed the meaning of the message/error.

I found the app to be pretty good. Friends in the past have complained these apps sucked. I appreciated the notifications it would send when it finished/alert requiring attention. It's very controllable from my phone. 'The setup was easy and well packaged. The map management (when it finally finished) was handy and was able to break the house into manageable room sizes and moderately customisable. The virtual walls worked well

The battery life has been decent. I have been impatient at times as I have been testing it out but in the future with regular scheduling and recharging as needed, it works well. My house is on the larger size so its unable to clean it in one go. Hence I manually and have also scheduled room cleanups to break up required cleaning. Larger battery/higher efficiency would be nice to allow all mopping in one instance. The vacuuming I don't mind splitting up but a minor hassle to have to come to remove the mop for it to recharge and then again after its finished. Again this is a minor point but for me, this device aims to help automate regular cleaning as possible and hence I need to be home to attend to it (assuming no issues with obstacles etc).

My first week was overall a pleasant experience. I’ve appreciated the overall hands-free nature of vacuuming and mopping with little input from me between the odd deeper manual clean. It was great at reaching places under beds which have been effectively off-limits in the past.

Now, some issues and queries (in no particular order).
I find with vacuuming that it never fills the dust bin fully. It reaches about 60-70% as it compacts in the centre. The input port fills up and hence no longer can clean any further. Mildly frustrating to have to constantly check if the bin is "full" mid clean. A full bin sensor would be handy. I imagine over time with more cleans regularly it will be less of an issue.

Multiple map/level support? I don’t believe this has been released yet? I have the latest firmware but only seem to manage to produce one map. I attempted to position it upstairs to clean but the poor thing got confused. With future multiple levels, can you move the charging dock between levels or should it remain in a fixed spot to prevent issues pathing back home to charge?

There is manage locations section (location management) and also cleaning the restricted area within the app which I don’t fully understand its function. Moreover, I fail to understand how the zone function works in the app. It selects a 1.5x1.5m zone in the middle of the map by default. I assumed I would be about to reposition it, but it appears fixed for me. I feel I should be able to designate a desired zone without having to manually bring it to the location and spot cleaning it. I can resize the zone but it remains fixed.

I found the mop functionality underwhelming. Even on the highest setting, I found the water output limited. It mostly covers the floor but does miss spots and is streaky even on the return pass and highest water setting. I like the idea of different water levels but found I was forced to leave it on level 3. I understand its no substitute for regular mopping but figured it would do a slightly better job. It does help to remove any loose dust that forms but given the need to watch the water level (surprised there is no sensor) and need to remove for charging its not something I regularly used. I was also surprised by the label no detergent. Figured a better clean would be achieved with some chemical assistance but so far been sticking with pure water. Is there any reason to not add in a little cleaning agent? Does excess foaming clog the water pipes or something?

Found the pathing strange at times. For example along a straight wall, it would curve/hop rather than path straight. Was annoying as it would consistently miss a small section and regularly collide with the wall. I was impressed it did manage to fit under the kitchen table chairs however understandably did occasionally get stuck. Figured it might be able to just backtrack its path to get out but no such luck. I wish it utilised its past tracking history/map better. At times it rams at speed into fixed objects that were mapped and well lit. I would have thought it would from its sensors and past history be able to detect and adjust its acceleration to predict the upcoming fixed obstacle/wall.

Would like to see a % battery and possible estimated battery life remaining.

It has had many recent instances where the positioning fails. At the start, it was due to incomplete mapping so impatient me had to restart the whole mapping procedure again 3 times… I figured it would just rebuild off the old partial map but annoyingly it deletes it and starts fresh. Would be nice to be able to save the maps just in case they get deleted. Even after fully mapping I've noted multiple times that it would lose its position and or wouldn't successfully position itself which is rather frustrating when mid clean or when I reposition it. My house has good WIFI coverage. There is only one small area that can be spotty but the reposition issues haven't been in this location so unsure why it's struggling to locate itself.

It did get stuck on one medium-long fibre rug but I didn’t expect it to clean it anyway. So no issue here. The wheels did get stuck in the sliding door grooves. A virtual wall solved this issue but figured the overhang sensors would be able to natively sort this out.

I'd like it if the robot was able to vary its pathing. Its cleaning path is always consistent in each room ie horizontal or vertical lines but if I selected a 2x clean (horizontal then vertical pathing for example) or scheduled cleans it could vary and hence ideally pick up more than following the same path each time.

Should the swiping side brush be removed when vacuuming?

Minor annoyance due to the rectangle shape and proximity of 2 rooms where the charging station was located, I had to relocate the charging dock as it overlapped its protected zone and was unable to place a no mopping zone in the other room. Figured no mopping around the charging dock wouldn’t be an issue. Perhaps allowing differently shaped areas to be selected beyond quadrilaterals could solve this. Otherwise, can you designate rooms to be no mopping using the determined rooms rather than zones placed on top of the map?

Over the last 3 days, my experience has turned for the worst.

The mapping/tracking has gotten significantly worse. Firstly, for whatever reason, the charging dock had changed locations on the map (went to another room) despite me not moving it or the charger losing power. No idea what sparked the charging dock change of location. But since the charging dock wasn't where the vacuum thought it would be, the vacuum and consequently the map became jumbled. The vacuum struggled to find its home base and would just get lost. It even struggled when repositioned (successfully) in front of the charger. With this error, it has caused my map to update weirdly as it tries to remap rooms (which are already known) in a new position. Hence it's remapping my map top of existing map just offset. I assume this will cause issues in the future so I'm going to have to fully remap again. Mildly annoying as I had set up areas, virtual walls etc perfectly and now will be lost.

Furthermore, yesterday its been having further problems. Firstly I selected a single room clean but it cant navigate to the room on its own. It says there are obstacles in its path despite the pathway being clear. It leaves the dock, pushes back and then that alert message appears and it returns to the dock to charge. Very strange behaviour. For it to clean rooms beyond the room the dock is positioned in I have to tell it to clean the room with the dock first then it seems to clean other rooms selected. I'm sure this is just some bug but going to have to remap again to see if that fixes it. At present, its functionality is greatly reduced. Seems to be working okay after resetting the map again. Wish you could save versions of the map and or features implemented on top of it ie virtual walls, zones, names etc. Would have been handy to revert to an older map before the weird tracking overwrote it.

After resetting the map and then allowing it to fully remap the space (allowed it to do 2 full passes to ensure the map was complete). I attempted a partial room clean which worked well. The following day I initiated a room clean via the app and noticed after a few minutes it had failed to enter the room. It was going back and forth in the hallway attempting to map overtop of the existing map and was trying to navigate through the wall. Somehow the positioning is off and despite it being fully mapped it attempts to map the area again yet but offset causing huge issues. The map appears to be fully complete and it's not announcing any initial errors ie positioning fail or blocked path obstacles. Subsequently, now that the map has a second layer, its unable to path to the desired rooms as new walls overlap the old map, placing new walls that don't exist. Very strange, I figured the map reset would solve these but in its current form, it's effectively useless to me.

Unsure where to go from here…. @gearbite can you advise? Sorry for the rambling but hoping to get some clarity and hopefully these serious tracking/mapping issues fixed.

    • Willl check and get back to you.

      • +1

I am also having the same issues rep. All of a sudden mapping overlaps ghost rooms over my map and the robot gets lost. Tried re-mapping but fails to remap. Was there a recent update that may have triggered all these faults?

Please look into this as our smart robot is no longer smart. Was working fine up until now…

        • I will check when new firmware update will be available.

    • Good review! I've had mine for a week or so. I don't have the time to type as much but just to address a couple of your points….
      1) The full bin sensor - I have had a notification on the app where it said that the bin was full or the intake was full - something along those lines, so there is a sensor in there and it creates alerts.
      2) The 'zone' clean up - the square can be moved and resized on my phone/app. Its a bit fiddly but you should be able to move to zone box.
      3) Completely agree about the mapping issues. I've had to remap 3 times and its very frustrating as you say once you've got everything setup and renamed etc. Being able to save maps would be ideal, or a drastic improvement is needed on the mapping function to make it more stable.

      • I wholeheartedly agree with you mate in regards to being able to save the map. I've had the Dreame D9 for about 3 weeks now and on 2 separate occasions the robot vac has got lost and both times the robot started mapping new rooms and walls that don't exist. The only solution I found was to delete the map and remap the whole house and then I had to recreate all the vacuuming schedules, add all the no vac zones & no mopping zones. That is the only fault I found with the Dreame D9, everything else is gold. Absolute massive improvement from the Roomba 960 I was using previously.

        • Looks like we are all having these issues all of a sudden…..I hope it’s not hardware related and just a recent software glitch?

          • @ImpulseMan: Should be software problem, if vacuum lost position, i will suggest that move vacuum to charging dock, close mi home app and then restart mi home app, map should be ok. All map management system will keep improve in coming month. All valued feedbacks will pass to dreame team. They will have one update to fix some bugs in Dec.

      • Regarding mapping issue, i will suggest you do not need to remap. Please put vacuum back to docking station, then close mi home app. Restart mi home and enter D9 interface, you should have right map then. If still have problem, please try to move you dock to right position if have been moved. New firmware will much improve this bugs.

        • Ive also had the exact same map issues, it loses the position in map randomly. It was cleaning the back of the house then thinks its at front… manually returned to dock. Closed and opened mi home app, now thinks dock is at front of the house. No way to reset it now than to remap for the 4th time in as many weeks. Definitely impressive cleaning but this glitch means its too much of a hassle for robo vac as its meant to save time… Keen to send it back at this stage

          • @F1Maniac: New firmware update should available in 3-4 weeks time. You can alway return if you not happy about the product by contact our team at [email protected].

            • +1

@Gearbite: Thx. If we strongly believe the new firmware will fix these bugs. Are we able to extend MBG until a few weeks after new firmware?

              • +2

@F1Maniac: For sure. One update around 3-4 weeks time, more updates later Dec as scheduled. You can return if problem can not fix.

                • @Gearbite: Great service rep, extending MGB for this issue really is nice work. I think a few of us will wait it out for the update as the product is impressive if these glitches are fixed. Keep up the great service.

                  • @ImpulseMan: Yes I have the exact same problems as mentioned. Poor mapping, dock changing positions, its not finding its way back home.
Have reset the map countless times, and tried to redo it at various times of the day, still no good.

Here's a collection of various versions of my maps.

Keen for an extension to the guarantee post new firmware.

            • @Gearbite: @gearbite any word on the firmware update? my map issue is still the same. now it thinks the charger/home base is somewhere else in the house and starts remapping everytime i start it now.

              • @F1Maniac: was been told will available in 1 weeks time, please keep monitor your mi home app.

                • @Gearbite: @Rep. Any word on the next F9 update with manual room assign? Thx.

    • Regarding Zone Clean, you can move the zone and adjust the size of Zone. at Restrict Area section, you can set up virtual wall, no go zone, No mopping zone. Mapping problem has reported to Dreame Team. I will update once they reply with any firmware update.

    • Thanks for the review! Seems like insufficient water flow even on max seems to be a common theme for the D9.

    • Also have the same issue in mopping mode with the map whereby the charger was suddenly located elsewhere in the map and the D9 just kept doing a certain area again and again and would suddenly says its stuck but it was not actually stuck on anything. It was also doing this weird rotation back and forth followed by a slight move forward again and again against any edge whether it's a wall / sofa / obstacle. Now will need to test it again after I reset the map.

  • Not that it really matters or anything but I don't think Australia is the first country to receive this device. It's available on sale on Tmall https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=627715889118&skuId=4453… (obviously you won't get the same level of support from a local business) and a couple of people on smzdm (kind of like OzBargain in China) https://post.smzdm.com/p/ag8ld6om/, https://post.smzdm.com/p/a99wg2le/ have reviewed the device already.

  • Hi @gearbite, bought the robot cleaner about 3 weeks ago but got two issues, not sure whether you can suggest what to do?
    1. The map was completed after first use. I started the robot a few days later, somehow the charging dock was repositioned to somewhere else on the map (I didn't move the charging dock). It happened twice already and repositioned to different places. The robot cannot finish the cleaning efficiently because of the wrong position.
    2. My mop stopped working after the first time. Filled in water and attached the mop component, the robot can detect it, but there is no water came out and the mop cloth was dry after the use. (First time worked fine)
    Thanks

    • Regarding map, will have firmware update to fix around 3 weeks time. Regarding mop, please contact me by oz message, i will happy to help.

  • The D9 is cheaper on eBay today, but still seems a bit of a risky buy with the bugs.

  • is this the same device as Kogan's deal which is only $399? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/583558
