Recommend Removalist and End of Lease Cleaner

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable removalist and end of lease cleaner. Moving from and to a 3 bedroom house in West Melbourne. Have looked at many online review sites, but not sure what to trust. Tend to see extremely eloquently written 5 star reviews mixed with scathing 1 star reviews which makes me think most are made up. I would appreciate your recommendations and experiences. Thanks

For the end of lease cleaners, my usual approach is to ask who the real estate agent's preferred bond cleaner is (so long as they are not stupidly overpriced). That way if there is some issue with the bond clean, they can liaise directly with the bond cleaners without you needing to be involved.

end to see extremely eloquently written 5 star reviews mixed with scathing 1 star reviews which makes me think most are made up.

I see this more and more with online 'reviews'… most times now I ignore the reviews…

  • Last time I moved I put an add up on findyourmovers.com.au (or something like that) and picked the one that addressed certain things in my job that I wanted them to do. They also had great google and website reviews.

I was excited, thinking I had a great price and good moving team but on the day it was a totally different story. They turned up 2 hours late and didnt call to say why. They also had severely underestimated the size of the truck required for my move, despite me providing a detailed list and photos of everything to be moved. This meant that it took way longer than it should to move my furniture (multiple trips back and forth) and they only sent a crew of 2 people. I think it ended up taking 5 hours. One of the movers was just a mate of the driver and struggled to lift heavy things. Then at the end I got a text message from the company saying "Hey if you give us a 5 star review we will give you $50!" Thats when I learnt that online reviews for some places mean jack sh$t.

I have used Kent before as well. VERY expensive, but to their credit they came out in person and quoted, turned up on time, and moved an entire 4 bedroom fully furnished house in under 2 hours with a crew of 4 and only required one trip. From memory Kent was $2000 (to move 3km down the road) and this other company (I'd have to look them up) was $660 to move 10km down the road.

If you have mates that can help then renting a truck and doing it yourself can be cost effective but not always fun!

With a cleaner, you can ask your agent who they use, but most places have a guanrete that you will get your bond back in full. My besties husband is an end of lease cleaner in Victoria if you to PM me. I can recommend his work as he has done the cleaning at my places when I move.

    • Yeah, last time I moved a few years ago, they came 5 hours late in a smaller truck, then tried to charge me more. Took an hour arguing to the manager to get the extra charge reduced. Can't remember the company though.

Learn from the other guy and don't leave it to the very last day of your lease. If the movers are running late then they will need to rush, your piano will be broken, and they will refuse to pay for it because you told them to rush anyway.

    • Thanks, I'll also book for first thing in the morning so hopefully they won't get delayed by another job.

      • Now that's using your brain. I bet the other guy tried to book his movers after work.

        • If the 'other guy' is me, no they where booked for 8am Wednesday two weeks before the end of my lease. I do not leave things like that to last minute.

  • Hmm… Either no one is moving house or there aren't any good cleaners and removalist to recommend, lol….. Anyway I've booked a cleaner and local removalist, both for first thing in the morning so hopefully they won't get lost or tied up with another job and not turn up. Fingers crossed.

    • Hey mate how did you go with removalist? I'm looking for one if you could help :)
