haha… if you are getting a XBOX series X or PS5. then it will be somewhat future proof :p

haha new consoles will be lucky to hit 4K @ 30fps consistently.

      • lol, yeah don’t think you’ll be doing much native 4K console gaming this generation.

By the time you get a gaming console supporting 8K natively your TV remaining value will be around 10-15% of its current price.

I will wait for 3 years to buy at $795.

Just pre-order Cyberpunk 2077 at JB HiFi to win the 82 inch model.

    Much cheaper option.

Id make sure it had eARC and HDMI 2.1 that supports the latest consoles.

Sony's KD X9000H series does (firmware update soon), but the KD X9500H doe not which is stupid as its the flagship Tv and more expensive ,
IM waiting for a high end TV that supports HDMI 2.1 and eARC (enhanced Audio return channel)

    • All 8k TV's have HDMI 2.1, it's required for 8k content I believe (not that there is any).

We bought a 900r on runout (went in to buy a 95t but there wasn't any stock coming for months so JB sold us the 900r for cheap). The 900h has eARC so I'd assume the new one does too.

After having it for 3 months I can confirm that 8k is a waste on a TV this small. If you're getting a 85" you might notice the difference.

But there's no content anyway. It's hard enough finding 4k content let alone 8k.

      • A big problem with Samsung 8K TV's is the contrast modulation (how clear each individual pixel shows). Last year's model was at 25%. Samsung got banned from showing them at CES unless they improved to at least 40%. They barely made it with this model. LG has 50% contrast modulation which is supposed to be the industry minimum. Sony has 70%. Very similar percentages with those company's 4K TV's too. With Samsung around the 50% mark. People always complain about the price of Sony TV's but don't understand the kind of tech they put into it compared to others.

mate i completely agree with you. my 2014 X8500B still has better image than a lot of new 4k samsung,

Absolutely pointless purchase a low end 8k 🤦‍♂️ Might as well get a flagship 4K OLED and still have plenty of change left over

Wtf is the point of 8k lmao

  • Seems like there's a few participating retailers for this one - https://www.samsung.com/au/offer/8k-tv-bonus-offer/ - I'd personally lean towards Bing Lee for a Wish Gift Card all others things being equal.

    • What's the point? 2x that of 4K

  • It's not just the fact that 8k content is nearly non-existant. But it's also the fact that as resolutions get higher, the pxel counts become indistinguishable. So the improvement over 4k is not a whole lot.

  • Ignoring if this tv is any good or not, screw a bonus gift card, just make the damn thing cheaper.

  • Will buy once 65" 8k goes under $1000 for a computer monitor. Hope my 65" 4k will last that long.

  • upscaling our 576 channels to 8k

  • perfect for those 3090 buyers
