    • Only issue I can see with this is 2 decimal place readings. 3 decimal places allows much better detail. 2 decimal places might read 0.04 where 3 might read 0.049. Not that you should really drive around those levels but I think when it comes to these devices you want to account for it going out of calibration slightly and for it to give you the best reading it can so you can make an informed choice.

I would have thought 0.049 on a 2 decimal would round up to 0.05 anyway?

It may even be better to have 2 decimals because 0.045 would round to 0.05 and you’ll just accept it and not drive, but at 3 decimals you may still drive at 0.049 “because you can”?

        • I suppose people can make stupid risky choices like that, however they're more likely the people to not buy one in the first place because: "She'll be right mate, I feel fine aye". Personally for a 300 dollar budget, I'd want the peace of mind of having a more accurate device but to each their own.

Margin of error on the 2 decimal place is 0.01 @ 0.05%bac
Margin of error on the 3 decimal place is 0.005 @ 0.05%bac

          • @ProlapsedHeinous: I think you're confusing resolution with accuracy.

The accuracy of the device mentioned above is 0.01%, so displaying more resolution than two decimal places is pointless.

  • Or, better yet, don’t drive if you have had anything to drink in the way of alcohol…

    • Got pulled up on my red Ps when I was 18 with alcohol in my system. Was shitting bricks, I didn't have any alcohol all night! I did however have 2 big pieces of Tiramisu! Had traces of Alcohol in it!

      So thats my story.

    • what, anything ever?

this does not seem like actionable advice.

      Don't be silly

  • So if you blow over, what do you do? Wait an hour in your car?

If you're in your car, I think you can be charged anyway.

      • Only if the keys are in the ignition? I could be wrong.

        • Google seems to say that if you are in possession of the keys, you are in charge of the vehicle and can be charged.

    • Get a lift or taxi,or walk

    Maybe something like this?

    https://andatech.com.au/collections/personal-breathalysers/p… $259

3 decimal place readout, Certified to AS3547, requires calibration every 6 months (recommended) they have a service plan for under 90 a year for two services including postage.

I haven't used this one personally, i have an older one, and it has been a great handy little device.

  • If you think you might be, then you probably are.
Plus if you record 0.04 then get done at 0.05 by the cops 5 minutes later then you'll still get done

It won't tell you if your numbers are on the way up or on the way down.

Better off either not drinking or have a designated driver who remains alcohol free.

    • You can tell easily by waiting 15 mins before your first test to remove residual alcohol in mouth, then take 2 tests 15 minutes apart. you will either be up, down or the same. Repeat test for better data. My device is good for 6 months or 500 tests which might as well be unlimited for personal use.

      • Cheers 🙌

  • BACtrack is really good and super portable. We take it out with us and check before we hop on the train to our vehicle
