  • Is there a better phone right now in the 300-400 price range?

  • +2

For $60 more I am getting the Poco X3. I was originally getting the Redmi Note 9 Pro for $25 more but where I was buying it from said as a result of the camera faults there would be a delay until they got new stock where the fault had been fixed. If you can stretch I would go to either of those models to get the 6gb/128gb and better features.

  • Does this particular model have NFC?

    • +1

Uncertain and dependent on the model number. On GSMarena, it says M2003J15SG should have NFC, M2003J15SS should not have NFC. Dont know which one is Global and which one is not.

Ive got the 128 pro and the photos are fantastic, its worth the extra money plus NFC. My batch was after the camera faults were fixed and quality is excellent. 3rd Xiaomi phone in 6 years, upgraded twice but still have mi max 1 and mi max 3. Redmi note 9 pro is an epic phone.

What do you reckon is a good price for pro?

      • Try kimovil.com reckon it's around 330 mark

      • Under 400 delivered.
Lowest has been 327 from Tobydeals, got mine 370 express from HK.

  • nor sure why you'd get this over the note 9s, also available on kogan for $294 (not shipped though)

note 9s has the snapdragon 720g instead of the mediatek in this one, which performs better, can do 4k video, and gives better battery life

    • or the 6gb/128gb verson for $295 delivered from tobydeals (hk):

keep in mind redmi note 9s also has no NFC though

Google pixel 3a voted best phone in this price range. No more talk on Xiaomi Chinese spy phones please.

      • You mean the pixel 3a that's $550?

Yes, a phone that is ~180% of the price of this phone is clearly comparable!

It is true that there are serious and legitimate privacy concerns when you buy a Chinese smartphone. That doesn't mean that nobody should buy them or that they shouldn't be posted and discussed. You won't ever buy one? Hate them? That's fine, and I respect that position. Doesn't mean you can tell people to just buy a Pixel 3a. Not everyone can just pull $250 out of their ass.

          the pixel 3a that's $550?

It’s been as low as $419 on OzB.

It is true that there are serious and legitimate privacy concerns when you buy a Chinese smartphone

          Exactly my point.

Not everyone can just pull $250 out of their ass.

It’s not $250, and smart people would pay the extra $100+ for better privacy.

  • Missed out

  • I understand this is prefered by some over the Poco X3 because it's cheaper, but us that all? Or are there other features where the Redmi Note 9 Pro is better?

  • Why not buy a Redmi 9A for $144 from Kogan? The phones look the same.
