  • Out of curiosity, what kind of things do people store on USBs of this size rather than portable HDD/SSD? I figured the speed and lifespan of flash drives would be a limiting factor at some point.

      USBs are my go to when i dont want to lug a hdd or ssd around

      They seem to be pretty reliable for me?

      I mean it certainly shouldn't be your only backup but they last a good while.

    • I have some that are about 10 years old and are still working with out a hitch. Just slow as they;r eUSB2 and I use them rarely these days but occasionally drop a file on them for friends who seem to struggle with cloud links.

      Size is the main reason.

  • I have the 32GB version of this. Speed is very slow. When writing, it starts at around 20-30MB/s then drops to below 10.

    • That sounds like USB 2.0 speeds. Are you sure it's this exact drive and your computer is using a USB 3.0 (or better) port?

      • Yes, exact model. Just bought a new Samsung flash drive, and speed is consistent at ~25MB/s, while this Sandisk drive will drop to 3-5MB/s.
