Repco has the spray wax for $29 with 30% off and liquid wax for $32 after a $27 discount, so that is quite some value.

Im lazy though and just use ultimate fast finish.

    • +1

Repco spray wax $32 after 30% off, here

  • How does this compare to Ultimate Quik Wax?

    • I use this too currently. Interested to know people's thoughts

  • +2

Can confirm this stuff works well and is easy to use for a lazy bugger.

Have plenty already but tempted to get more at this price.

  • Good timing. I’ve down to my last half bottle.

    • Care to share the experience?

  • Everytime I use this stuff I get a massive headache, must be some strong arse chemicals in it.

Does an amazing job though, crazy beading and so slick.

  • +1

If you want this product to last longer and be more effective long term, use it on dry surface and really polish it in.

    • +1

wet wash the car first to get the dust and grime off the paint. Less risk of scratching your car with dry cleaning.

      Thanks for your contribution.

  • Newbie here…
    1) do we still need to wash and clean the car before applying Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax?
    2) this 786ml how much do we use in single application eg for a 7 seater car?
    3) Is there any similar recommended product for Window glass?

    • Yes. Not sure. By window glass do you still mean car? I’m pretty sure you can just use wax on the windows as well.

    • +2

      1) You'll need to clay bar the car too.
      2) Perhaps 3 or 4 applications about 2 or 3 months apart.
      3) Works well on glass too.

One of the better Meguiars products. I was doubtful that it was as good as they claimed. It is.

    • +1

      1) yes, wash, dry and I’d clay bar before using a wax.
      2) hard to tell, just apply as per the instructions.
      3) you can use wax on glass

    • +1

do we still need to wash and clean the car before applying Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax?

Yes of course, this wax is the final step. The first time you use it the car must be dry, but subsequent times the car can be wet.

this 786ml how much do we use in single application eg for a 7 seater car?

My 7 seater uses about a third of a bottle per wash, and I generously apply the product.

Is there any similar recommended product for Window glass?

Meguiars PerfectClarity Glass product is good. But any ammonia-free automotive glass cleaner should be fine.

  • What's the difference in performance between the liquid and the spray?

    • +4

Liquid is more work (30mins+), but gives better longer lasting results. You probably only need to reapply every other wash.

Spray is less work (literally takes 5 mins), but gives a weaker but still good finish. You will need to reapply every wash.

The spray is aimed at people that want a good wax finish without the work. It’s likely a top seller for Meguiar’s because you need heaps of it.

      • Depends on how often you wash. I find the spray lasts about 1-2 months depending on the conditions (outside). That's not bad for a quick spray.

      • Funny the wipe on method for spray wax out last the liquid wax.

      • Testing from Car Craft

showed that spray had better durability that liquid on dry test.

  • I've used this and swapped to 'The Last Coat' which gives better results, higher gloss, better water beading and easier application.

  • +1

How does this compare to this one @ $16? https://www.amazon.com.au/Autoglym-Rapid-Aqua-Wax-Complete/d…

  • Thanks bought one to give it a try. In general how long does the spray wax last after applied? E.g. 2-3 months.

I assume it wont last as long as the old fashion buff and wax? But I like the idea of the easy spray on wax which takes the hard work out…

    1) You'll need to clay bar the car too.

    Nah.

Apparently the Turtle Wax product performs slightly better, https://youtu.be/uYxKQwZah1s and it’s around the same price, I ordered some yesterday, free shipping with prime apparently 🤷‍♂️

Turtle Wax 53409 Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating-16 Fl Oz $23.15

    • As you've mentioned it is only slightly better. The turtle wax bottle is 473ml, Meguiars 768ml. So this is actually quite a good deal.

      Meguiars HCW - $3.01/100ml
      TW Hybrid Solutions - $4.92/100ml

    • Didn't realise you already posted the Project Farm video; I posted again below.

It's a great point of reference. This guy is great at doing semi controlled/scientific tests

  • -1

Bowden's Own has a better range of products. Aussie made, very easy to use and regularly 30% off at Supercheap and Repco

  • Yep the Turtle Wax ceramic product for the win! Have used both. Turtle is better.

  • Are these things good for paint in the long term? Do they damage or protect the paint?

    • +1

It won't damage your paint, quite the opposite. You'll get better results applying to a dry panel than wet and rinse.

  • Looks like a good deal, then I remembered that I never washed my car myself and let the heavy rain do its job…..

  • +1

As someone who is quite into car detailing, there are 4 main types of paint protection on the market atm.

    1) waxes
    2) synthetic sealants
    3) silica spray sealants
    4) ceramic coatings

Contrary to what the name suggests, it's actually not a wax. It's a silica spray sealant which is infused with sio2. Typically has more durability than your typical wax. Should last about 6-12 months if applied properly.

    • +1

Maybe if your car is parked under cover?

      • If you can't park undercover, then I wouldn't even be bothering with any of these products.

A single night street-park covers my car with dust and pollen - and then if there's a light shower it all turns to mud. I'd have to wash multiple times per week to keep on top of it…

        • +1

All the more reason to use it, so the muck washes off easily, but it will mean applying it more often.

          • -1

@wfdTamar: Yeah - if you're a street parker though, and you're committed to a clean car, you'll have to wash it every few days ! Sometimes the very next day.

        • Does that also mean you shouldn't bother washing your car?

If you park outside it's more reason to use these sorts of products

          • -1

@edrift: Right, but all your hard work is undone immediately. If you're happy to keep cleaning over and over, and buying products like this, then go for it 🤷

            • +1

@Nom: Not really. If you wax or ceramic coat a car, it remains slick for a little while. If it rains that slickness actually helps it get a wash in the rain.

I don't really know what point you're trying to make? People who Park outside shouldn't bother maintaining their cars?
Sometimes there's no choice but to park outdoors.

Sure you might have access to a garage, but does that mean you don't drive outside and keep it parked forever?

    • what about PPF?

  • Review and test here:
    https://youtu.be/uYxKQwZah1s

  • Do you need to clay bar the car first before applying this?

I take pretty good care of my car with it mostly being garaged and washing approx. fortnightly with a high pressure washer, good quality car wash (Duragloss) and microfibre mitts so it doesn't have any major blemishes to it.

    • Yes and no.
How old is the car? Has it ever been claybared or had paint correction done?

The more work you put into it the better the outcome, but I wouldn't say claybar is 100% required.

      • It's a 2014 car which I bought second hand this year in April and it was detailed prior to purchase.

Seller said it was detailed but not 100% certain if this is true or if it was just DIY washed.

        • +1

If the paint feels rough to touch at all then it could do with a claybar or even a light polish (not wax).

Also depends if it's usual garaged or parked in the open.

  • As Molly Meldrum would say… Do yourselves a favour and get this..

I got one during a SuperCheap sale about 12 months ago, and I find it amazing… Love how even after a heavy rain fall the water just beads and runs off my car, keeping it looking cleaner for longer.

  • Damn the only prime day deal that interested me and i missed it.

Its a good product, better than the nxt paint sealant i used. Ticks the boxes for gloss and water beading. Ignore instructions and apply to a freshly washed and dried car for best results.

Spray a bit and buff it in with a clean microfibre cloth. Then buff it off with a clean and different microfibre cloth. After my 3rd week (and third wash) its still going strong.

    • So best result is:
      1. Wash Car
      2. Dry Car
      3. Apply Spray
      4. Buff it off when the wax dried

      • +1

Correct. Edit. You gotta buff it in after you apply the spray. Then you can buff it off to make it haze/streak free. Just follow the youtube guide below.

        https://youtu.be/s1rMMrOqGTg

Followed his advice and it was 👌

  • +2

Warning not to apply too heavily… When doing the foundation coat on my small car I used at least half a bottle and had to spend over an hour buffing it with towels to get the streaks out.

    • +2

Good advice. Maybe 2-3 sprays per panel max (depending on panel size).

  • What do you use to wipe it and buff it off?

    • Microfiber cloth.
Can machine buff with DA polisher
