Always wanted one of these after it was recommended by multiple (not sponsored) chefs but they are usually so expensive. Amazon says RRP is $84.95 but that number is probably closer to $55+

This is the best salad spinner on the market in my opinion and OXO always has high quality/reliable products

  • Ideal for drying rinsed salad
  • Dry salad greens with a simple press of the soft, non-slip knob
  • Non-slip base keeps the bowl steady on the countertop
  • Built-in brake button stops the Salad Spinner for unloading

Thanks - I’ve been after one of these for a while, but just couldn’t mentally justify sixty bucks to dry lettuce.

    • You and me both! With the amount of OXO sales that go on, this item never seems to show up…

      • After using this, I also get to toss the salad.

I can't justify more than a couple of $. A simple tea towel is as good if not better. I rinsed a couple of large lettuce leaves today. Placed them in a tea towel by gathering all four corners together and spun it about 10 times. They come out perfectly dry with no device to clean or store. And since it's only water you just hang the tea towel up again to dry.

      • That’s fine if you only need to dry a couple of lettuce leaves, but if I’m preparing larger amounts of various fruits and veg, I’m not about to set up a row of tea towels across my kitchen bench, and stacking layers of wet leaves in a tea towel isn’t going to dry the middle leaves as well as the outer leaves. So a spinner is a justifiable buy for me

        • Yeah I thought about that before posting but realised I can fit the same amount or more in the tea towel as this device holds. Unless of course you pack it in tight, but then the water either wouldn't spin off to the outer wall (the other lettuce would trap it), or it would at least take a lot longer to spin off. I have square tea towels too that are wider than those rectangular red/blue and white checquered ones Colesworths sell.

Yeah you could also save on lettuce money eating the weeds around the driveway

  • I have this item.

    It is crap.

The pushing down method of gaining torque is very inefficient. The winding method is much better.

It squeaks a lot during the spinning.

Thanks. This will make my salad tossing a lot quicker.

For those who live near Ikea can consider this one

    www.ikea.com/au/en/p/tokig-salad-spinner-white-30157235/

    $5 only

(this is the normal Ikea price for this item)

    • I find that one frustrating to use, my hands slip off when spinning it.

I have this and it's OK, but is super hard to spin when it's slightly full. I think what is happening is that the centrifugal force makes the inner sieve spread out, which drags on the outer plastic.

      • im using the ikea one n loving it…
was considering this for my parents tho.. cause it looks more user friendly..

  • Legend, was just about to buy it for $55.

  • Recently bought the Kmart $9 Salad Spinner. It spins! And it's more sturdy than the Aldi one I bought a few years ago.

    People wash their salad?

    • +4

Lettuce is a pretty dirty vegetable. Lots of pesticides unless you go organic. Can be a bacteria breeding ground for how it is stored post farming. Supermarkets are also pretty dirty. Often there are small bugs in between leafs. I'm pretty slack rinsing my fruit and vege but lettuce is one I always rinse.

    • in restaraunts, salads are usually washed with a weak bleach solution, eliminates bacteria

    • yep, people forage with their hands through the salad mix box so they don’t get the wilted stuff at the top …..hands probably aren’t washed before foraging ……

Wash it once in a big bowl and see how much crap is at the bottom - not to mention the things you can’t see!

Have the smaller version for a few years. Very happy with it.

  • This link does not show this spinner at that price anywhere :(

    • Still showing up at that price for me..

    • Are you a Prime member? I can still see it in stock at this price

  • Wow this is a bargain, I paid $55 for it recently and that was the best price around by $10.
