  • Any idea what would be a good mobo for the upcoming Ryzen 9 5900x? thanks

    • +6

      This would be!

    • i'm going to do the same as you but i'm worried the CPU preorders will be sold out in the first minute and it will be unobtainable for months.

Then I need a GPU also.

  • how long is it on for at this price?

    • 1 hour tonight, 8-9pm

  • +2

Fantastic Price, Paid 339$ at Shopping Express, Quality board waaay better than the MSI Gaming Plus

    • Me also. This board has bells and whistles galore.

  • Ive heard of people having issues with this board randomly not posting. Has anyone else here experienced that? I want to grab this board as it looks like great bang for buck. But I also want my PC to work when I turn it on.

    • +5

Yeah, I've got one, it's VERY finicky with BIOS settings. I found only the 1st revision and the latest beta are stable enough for day to day use. Honestly I'd avoid this and look at the Strix-F which is a similar price at the moment

      • +3

Also got one of these boards, have actually never received any errors or failures to post (and I've done a fair amount of BIOS tweaking). Got mine when they were first released and its been 100% stable. I would say that this board is excellent for the $300 price.

I'd guess you're one of the lucky ones, unfortunately AFTER I bought it I found lost of threads with similar issues as mine on the MSI forums.

I should say, MSI support have been good, and the latest beta BIOS has no issues for me.

    • +1

I've got one, no issues at all with no POST.

Will be planning to upgrade to a high-end Ryzen 5000 CPU in the future.

    • +1

No issues here either. Have done a few BIOS updates and a fair bit of tweaking without issue.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the 'MSI MPG B550 GAMING CARBON WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard'?

    • this is much better. but it also depends what you're trying to achieve. this board is great for the higher end ryzen cpu or if you want to OC. it has great vrm thermals.

b550 gaming edge wifi has similar vrm thermals to this x570. cheapest I found is $279 + delivery from mwave. I'd get this the tomahawk for $300. you get a more feature rich board.

      • they cost around the same, so if this board is better in every way, i'm sold haha. thank you for the help.

    • from the reviews, this is very good and better than the carbon. https://www.techspot.com/review/2020-msi-x570-tomahawk/
For me it has a usbc front connection, 2.5G lan, this combination is hard to find right now with most board either having one or the other or you have to move up the price range.

i am looking to upgrade to this board but am more in the wait and see boat for the new Ryzen 5000 cpu's and also big navi. hoping that the new year will push prices down further

anyone who's interested here's a review by Hardware Unboxed. this is a really good board, especially for this price.

  • Is there any similar deal for ASUS Prime X570 PRO?

  • I assume I will need Ebay Plus to get it at the $300 price?

    • +3

i think so, but you can sign up for a free trial and cancel it before the month is up

  • as long as its not price jacked between now and 8pm

  • Would you get this or the ASUS ROG STRIX B550-E from this deal? Seems similar to me https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572642

    • +1

      This. Has better IO. X570 gives you 2 x m.2 Gen4 as opposed to 1 x m.2 Gen4 and 1 x m.2 Gen3 on a B550.

      • Thanks. Should I be worried about the noise generated by the extra fan on X570 boards?

        • Probably not over your case fans. With that said, I never feel comfortable having an extra fan to cool the chipset, which is why I went with B550. B550 is just as good as X570 if you're willing to sacrifice some features like 2x Gen4 m.2.

          • @Yuri Lowell: what do you think of ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming?
I am thinking of getting that and pair with AMD CPU in November 5800x or 5900x depend on price and availability

            • @MrMarket: It's a good mobo if you don't need front usb type c support

            • @MrMarket: Haven't done too much research but I heard it's solid. The two best mid-range B550s are the Tomahawk and Giagbyte Aorus Pro. Both have excellent VRMs at any load with the 3900x.

            • @MrMarket: Had a quick look and the B550-F looks very solid with a nice feature-set for $250.

          • @Yuri Lowell: I had a similar thought, but I am looking for a mobo with front usb type c support and B550 mobo with that feature are priced more or less at a X570 price tag. Do you have any recommendations? B550 at around $250 with front usb type c and wifi

            • +1

@random-guy: Might have to go for the X570 Tomahawk. The B550 Tomahawk has front USB type C but lacks wifi. Not too sure about any other B550s outside of that but I can confirm the Aorus Pro does not have front USB type C. Here's a roundup video on the mid-high end range B550s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxczZChFaZI

  • I paid more than double that for Asus X570 Strix E during lockdown

    FML

  • i hope you guys buy them out at 8PM so I can't get one. I'm thinking I'll wait till I can secure a CPU + GPU first. By then the price might have dropped even further. No point sitting on an unused m/b.

EDIT: Looks like you guys did it. Good job.

  • Legit sold out 1 minute past 8pm. Another bullshit eBay sale..
