Amazon UK VAT Deduction?

hi, right now im trying to make some bluray purchases from amazon uk and it seems that the vat does not get deducted like usual? iv been buying for over a year and it normally shows it before payment, have they taken it away or somethinG?

    Well as far as I can remember, as long as you dont live in Sherwood Forest, Nottingham, and you are, indeed an official resident of Oz, the VAT comes off quite close to the end, even AFTER your credit card details are shown on the screen, I think, from memory, its right at the end of the transaction?

  • It is the very final screen of the checkout process (which is the way it has been for at least 12 months). It is the screen that shows you the final postage cost as well. So yes, it shows you before payment.

    • Something changed in September to they way it is presented in the checkout process as I questioned it at the time, I also thought they had stopped deducting VAT:

    They don't deduct it at an individual level on the final page like they used to, however you will find that the VAT will have been deducted in the totals figures over on the right hand side, if that makes sense.

  • In the total figures now? Why did they change what was originally better.

    • Agree, the old way was way better.
