    Have enjoyed this. Good value

    • Hi what's the bass and loudness like? I'm thinking of getting this but not too sure. It will be in my room so not a large space, if I wanna watch epic scenes loud etc will it perform well? Thanks

Note that this does not have hdmir arc. Only optical output

tempted to buy but this is borderline dealbreaker

      • I just bought it before I realised. Oh,well.

        • Just hooked it up. Pretty good for $165.
Set up a breeze, thru optical port.
Sounds vastly better than the hisenseTV speakers, but it isn’t a Sonos ARc of course sound wise..
Fun playing with the SubWoofer settings while watching the Death Star battle (Star Wars, a new hope if you are guessing which Death Star). I set it up behind the couch. You can feel it.

Wish it had hDMI and CEC. Apparently if you have a samsung TV the TV remote will control volume. No such luck with the hisense and ATV remotes

    • thanks, will give it a miss

    • As in sound quality output isn't as good? Idk what this means

      • So basically it allows you to control the volume via your TV remote. That way, you don't need to use two remotes for different functions.

    • whats HDMI ARC? if i may ask. I have samsung TV that supports this but doesn't really understands how this is different to usual HDMI?

      • AFAIK it basically it allows you to control the volume via your TV remote. If you use the optical port, you will need to use the native soundbar remote. Hope this makes sense

        • If you have a Samsung tv this soundbar works via normal tv remote via optical.

        • +1

CEC is what allows you to control things via each other (one remote)

ARC (audio return channel) is sound from a TV going back down the same HDMI cable that is an input ie AV a proper AV receiver

been eyeing these soundbars on good guys with this recent sale. my brother has the hw-j650 and it does quite well but it's in a big room and the sound isn't the best, and I'm thinking what would be required to get a real upgrade to the system? would it need to be something like the Q900T to get a noticeable difference? or would the Q70T also be noticeably better?

obviously that's only considering samsung (as he has a samsung TV that's where I started), which I hear good things about in general, but is there any others people recommend that would be a decent step up from the j650?

  • this or the YAS-108B
edit: i found this https://www.crutchfield.com/S-hehpLRjnI8Y/compare_022YAS108_… if anyone was wondering the same thing

    • The YAS-108B doesn't seem to have a sub, and is almost twice the price of the HW-T450. Not sure if they're the best models to compare against each other?

      • -3

could always get a second hand sub. and correct me if im wrong, there is one that comes with the sub. I paid 150 for the YAS 108B and there were loads of deal in a similar price range

        • +1

Yes I guess you could use a second hand sub? If you're not looking for a packaged new solution you may as well just use second hand speakers in general?

Yes, Yamaha does make a soundbar with a sub. The cheapest Yamaha soundbar with a sub I can find is the Yamaha ATS2090B. That model costs over $600.

          • @azzatron: YAS 207 is around 200- 250 i think, the yas 108 is also an older model now i think. so its not a direct comparison to the soundbar u linked

            • +1

@sushimaster: I like the look of the YAS-207 actually. Can you tell me where you found it for under $250? It seems to be $530-$550 everywhere online. There was a crazy good deal posted on ozbargain for it last year for $260 but it seems like it was a price error as it went out of stock straight away :(

              • @azzatron: You might be right, I was referring to the 260 one that I saw. I checked camel and 300ish seems like the cheapest it has been on amazon at least

  • Thinking of getting this for my PC setup and place it under my monitor (so directly in front of me). Is this a good idea or is it way too close?
Have been eyeing this soundbar (was already very tempted by the previous deal) because I don't really have space on my table for speakers.

    • It will take up too much space. About eighty cm long, and about 10 com wide by the looks of it. I would go for PC speakers.

  • Just bought this as my previous Samsung sound bar is now gone to the baby’s room
    Good deal

Went and had a listen and was pleasantly surprised at this price point. It won't shake your walls or give you inmersive surround, but is such a huge step up from built-in speakers. Ended up snagging one for the old TV!

  • Pulled the trigger through HN LatititudePay Deal for this last week, $195-$50=$145. TGG LatititudePay Deal same price.

Think to get this to pair it.
