Looking to Buy a Decent Watch

Hello all, recently saved myself up some money to buy a watch in the $2-3k range. I'm a sucker for the Longines L4.826.4.92.2 which is quite simple in design and has a moonphase for example. Would any watch enthusiast know where I can get a deal on this watch or if there are any similar ones out there, thanks.

  • The best I can find is $3150.

What's the best price you have got yourself?

Check out some Hamilton watches. Swiss.
You may be surprised - great quality and not overly expensive (well, some are).

this one costs less than half of the one above https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-int/h32515555-jazzmaster-da…

    • Thanks I'll check those ones out!

For reference I have a 7 inch wrist. For my dress watches I prefer around 36-38mm but 40mm is probably the max I like to do for a dress watch.

If you like to have the Moon phase complication have a look at the Junghans Meister Kalendar. German, 40mm, clean design with a full calender complication. For around $2.2k

Watch that gets the most wrist time is my Oris Big Crown with the grey blue dial that the missus gifted me. Around $2.5k. 40mm, Swiss.

    Hope that's helps!

    • God the sapphire on the Junghans is absolutely gorgeous.

      Edit: It's acrylic!?

      • I think there are versions with a sapphire crystal but the ones I've seen is a domed plexiglass crystal… an unusual quirk to maintain a vintage look? Personally, I don't mind it but I understand some concerns.

I do believe they do have an upgrade to Sapphire on their website but I have not seen one of this particular model with it. That aside it is a beautiful piece and wouldn't mind adding it to the collection! The dark dial in this written piece goes more into detail: Junghans Meister Calendar In-Depth

        The reference is 027/4906.00

        • I have a Junghans Max Bill and the plexiglass is rubbish, it cracked of its own accord and scratches incredibly easily. I am also allergic to the calf leather band. The watch is lovely apart from that..

          • @nubzy: That bad huh. Thats a shame :-(

    • tbh I prefer OP’s choice over the Junghans. The Longines reminds me of the $12k JLC Master Ultrathin Moon. Perhaps Daniel Wellington has ruined minimalist thin hour-marker designs for me…

      • tbh I prefer OP’s choice over the Junghans

        me too.

This might be obvious but Longines boutique will be happy to talk price, as will any Authorised Dealer. Might cost a bit more than online but from experience selling second hand with local stamped dealer card and receipt translates into good resale if you ever want to change in future. You should at a minimum be able to get 10% off rrp
