it now looks like Aldi ads prop.
As the OP said, you might get it from your local library for free.
An app such as RBDigital and your library card will give you access to The Economist, National Geographic and other magazines that your library has access to.
My favourite inflight read
It is saying $297 for me, is this subscription usually nearly 600 a year?
yep
If you're interested in the Economist US edition you can get a 1 month free trial of the Kindle Edition of the paper on Amazon US just don't forget to cancel. Check out other papers too which also have free trials e.g. WSJ, NY TImes, NAT Geo, & all those Tabloid Stuff like blah blah
Subscribe using a VPN (choose India) and you'll end up getting the same subscription for approximately 100 AUD. Why pay 297$ and make the rich richer ?
Oh wow really and it works fine in India?!
It works fine even in Australia. There is no specific rule that if you subscribe in India, you won't be able to use it in Australia.
I remember when it used to be a decent thickness, although it's still a great read. Another great read which has sadly gone is the Far Eastern Economic Review.
