  • Is Futu Online part of the participating resellers for the cash back? I can't see them on the Samsung website.

    • +5

Can confirm they are part of the Cashback Promotion. Their invoice will have 'K.S. COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY' with the corresponding ABN.

      • Thanks

      • I just ordered a 250GB M2 one via the Futu ebay site.
        The paypal receipt says :
Receipt for your PayPal payment to Academic IT Market- they are not on the cashback list………..

        • You'll have to send a eBay message to the seller requesting an actual invoice.

          • @RichardL: Yes, it will probably come with the item which I haven't received yet.

            • @bluegrass: I've previously purchased from Futu Online, and they don't include the invoice in your order. You have to actually send then a message on eBay requesting an invoice.

              • @RichardL: Thanks Richard,
My point was that the eventual seller seems to be Academic IT Market not KS Computer Technology.
Academic IT Market is not on the cashback vendors list.

    • +1

Yes the header on the Invoice is titled K.S Computer Solution PTY LTD. I have successfully submitted a Cash Back claim, just waiting on the outcome.

  • I bought the 500gb A2000 for about $84, does anyone think that the slight performance difference is worth the additional $24?

    • +1

I have no real-world experience of the difference; but I'd assume the A2000 will perform imperceptibly slower than the Samsung. To pay 20% more for negligable gain, is probably not the OzBargain way…

      • agreed, kingston might have speed drop issue and 970 is much more stable, though A2000 is less heated than 970

  • tried to claim the cashback via samsung redemption website, kept on saying the S/N I've entered is invalid. hmmmm….. i guess they are not too keen to give the money back

    • +5

You need to actually open the box and there is one more letter on the actual ssd

      • i've enter the 15 digits S/N on the SSD

        • +1

Try sending the support an email. I had that last time. Then they investigated it, added the number into the database and then asked me to try again and I got my cashback

    • There's an extra digit on the SSD itself rather than that printed on the box.

That being said I'm still waiting for my cashback from the last promotion.

    • +1

Are you using the S/N on the box or the one on the actual SSD?

I found that the S/N on the actual SSD also has an extra letter/digit at the end.

      • yup there's only 14 digits on box which wouldn't work, i've entered 15 digits S/N on the SSD but showing invalid S/N

        • Best to contact Samsung, refer to comment below.

    • You can also use the Samsung Magician app to get the (correct) serial number. Saves you from having to open your PC up to read the sticker.

  • Is there a 250gb version? trying to find one just for my OS.

    • Samsung 970 EVO Plus 250GB - $77.35 ($61.25 after Cashback)

      • Thanks legend!

Edit - Thanks, bought 250GB + 1TB :) now lets hope we don't have problems when claiming back once received!

        • Didnt know you could claim more than one?

          • @Trishool: Believe you can claim up to 3? quote me if im wrong.

      • Seems to have edited the cashback out of the deal? correct me if im wrong? not sure if im looking correctly.

        • You'll have to use the coupon code "PLUSNEW" for 15% off. Then redeem the cashback via Samsung.

          • @RichardL: yup yup, my mistake just no advertising on it like the rest! had already bought though ;)

  • did anyone get their caskback from Samsung now? I claimed on 18/09 shows as validation completed but still not receive the money.

    • +1

Takes like 1 month+ i believe, from my last claim.

      • thanks mate, this is very helpful.

  • I'm interested in the 250GB Evo Plus M.2 drive. I signed for Ebayplus and got a $50 voucher but, if I use this for this purchase, I can't use the PLUSNEW code for t he 15% off.

Anyway, looks like its -15% with the discount PLUSNEW plus $16 Samsung cash back - bringing the price down to around $61.

Can anyone tell me how I go about claiming Cash rewards on this purchase?

  • The 980s were released - is there any cashback on those? They pull some insane speeds though thats mostly on the small SLC cache, the raw NAND is just TLC.

    • no cashback on the 980s

    • +1

because that's pcie gen 4 interface.

  • +2

I don’t know if it’s worth to pay around double the price for the new 980 pro, can you notice a difference in normal day to day use?

    • I was wondering the same thing.

    • 1tb 980 pro is only $349 at PLE. For $100 more I think its worth it but don't pay mWaves $409. If you have PCI4 then its worth it.
Just waiting for them to ship any day now.

      • Including the cash back it will be 140 dollars difference…

  • Is this worth getting over the ADATA SX8200 PRO 1TB at this price? Are the 4K random speeds on the sx8200 faster than the evo plus though? Most reviews say it does all except for UserBenchmark. I suppose both would be pretty comparable and probably wouldn't notice a difference in OS/apps responsiveness? Thoughts?

  • -1

I was eyeing Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB or ADATA SX8200 PRO 1TB. I think will pull the trigger on the Samsung.

  • Is the 512GB Samsung 970 PRO M.2 (2280) PCIe SSD PN MZ-V7P512BW worth the extra $70?

    • 10x longer endurance…

      • +1

Is that the best Samsung on offer? Got a crucial P1 wouldn't mind a cloning to a Samsung and keep the crucial 1tb for games I guess. Performance is great but heard it will slow down as fills up

        • +2

It depends on you use it. If you use the drive for gaming or office works, P1 is enough. If you use the drive heavily, like deleting and rewriting ~1tb content in the drive every day, choose 970 pro.

          • @test11111: Thanks, I probably don't need the very best as I'm not using it for much real work or data transfers. If I was doing GIS type stuff with large files may be different.

Its just about having two m.2 drives to keep the os real snappy, for $100 this 500gb 970 Evo plus would be ok, pro maybe future proofed. I returned a 2tb we blue as it was basically the same tire level as what I got .

Then again could get a modern Samsung sata SSD with more storage, but they don't really seem that cheap anyway.

Could just wait till this fills up but easier cloning now hopefully. Otherwise got my old 2tb 3.5" sata 2 plugged in.

    • +1

If you are transferring a crazy amount of data each day then get the Pro if not then save the $70 and get the Evo. However, for the price I get the Kingston A2000.

      • +1

True, maybe should have kept the wd blue if I wanted 2x 1tb similar m.2 drives. Prob wait till it fills up a bit more, just thought the Samsung deals were ok but probably will continue to get cheaper.

        • +1

Having said that though I do recommend getting the 970 Pro for your OS because with the 970 Pro they are using MLC while the newer and more expensive 980 Pro only use TLC just like the 970 Evo and we all know that MLC is better than TLC in term of endurance and sustained write speed. In another word, going forward, Samsung will use TLC on their flagship drive and the 970 Pro will probably be the last MLC drive from Samsung. I got both the 970 Pro for my OS and the cheaper Kingston a2000 for movies and such, both serve their purposes well but the 970 Pro sustained write is crazy, it will maintained above 1GB/s write speed no matter how big the files are. The Kingston a2000 which use TLC will dip below 500MB/s after 100 GB is written to it.

          • +1

@Wolfofwallstreet: Good advice mate the 970 pro for os would last you many years and the performance on standard m.2 I found is still awesome anyway
            Cheers

            • @G-rig: has anyone actually had their m2 ssd wear out on them? i'd be curious to know

  • I bought one from Umart the night before the cashback started and still claimed it; currently sitting at validation complete so hopefully it goes through

  • Thanks OP. Got one to complement my existing 970 plus 500 GB

  • Hi OP wondering how long will this deal last for,.. well especially for the 1TB 970 EVO plus NVME ill hopefully be purchasing tomorrow?

  • Decent prices but can't be bothered with these redemption type deals. Too annoying, following up, wasting time.

  • Pulled the trigger on the 970 EVO Plus 1TB the other day. Can confirm I got an invoice in the "dispatched" email from futu, with 'K.S. COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY' on the header. Successfully submitted a cashback claim. Now to play the waiting game :)

  • Has anyone else had issues with the Samsung redemption site. Validation emails don’t work. I successfully reset my password just to rule out an issue with that and it still won’t login, probably because it’s not validate which still fails. Not happy about having to contact Samsung’s useless customer service. Still waiting.
