I recently received around $500 of CommBank Rewards and decided to order a $100 Myer gift card. Just received it in the mail but it got me thinking that if the letter was lost/sent to the wrong address - I'd lose the cash. I can use the rewards instore but obviously that's not possible living in Melbourne at the moment. Too risky to have $500 worth of gift cards sent in the mail - I might just wait this one out till I can use the points instore.
Gift Card Sent in The Mail

Not that I can see…
That's great to hear, have a nice day.
Yep, I thought the same thing. It very risky.
Gift card PIN is not even covered, and all the cards came pre-activated.It's not like anyone has ever lost something in the mail, or received someone elses letter right?? :)
LOL, there might be somewhere in T&C that states they're not responsible for lost gift cards
Just rang CBA - waste of time that was. The response was "yes we receive this feedback a lot about the risk of sending gift cards but that's just how we do it…sorry" I told him that right now, due to Covid I have no option other than ordering gift cards - I can't use points in store. Apparently they are considering Egift cards sometime soon…but who knows.
So, the risk is entirely on you, the customer. You want to order a $500 gift card, cross your fingers and hope it arrives.
They're usually sent registered post and you'll need to go sign to pick them up
edit:… not that registered post means you'll get them anyway
It was just general mail - not registered post and I didn't sign anything.
So, it's just as risky - in fact the same as sending cash in the post. Rediculous.
Perhaps other reward providers send them registered post, but CBA send their regular mail.
Thankfully I get my delivered to a PO Box and haven't had any go missing.
I've been using my rewards with Myer in-store, but previously have redeemed BP Gift cards.
I once redeemed a $100 K Mart Gift Card From ANZ and it was just sent via general mail. Same with FlyBuys. Only ever had a a gift card stolen once.
Don't they have egift cards..
