Anyone have these? Is it a good printer?

    • +5

      It's heavier than a Brother

      • chuckle

      • +6

I guess it will vary for everyone. I have an elder brother who is heavier than even me or any printer out there.

      • Haha, touche.

      • Holly holy!

      • makes it sturdier …

      • Weight sign of reliability

    • the ink is $78 and not original

  • +2

I am looking for A3 printer and scanner, wish it was.

  • no wifi, right?
no 3rd party toner on ebay?

    edit:
can scan to email or USB drive directly?

    • +1

there are generic toners on ebay but not that cheap($80ish per colour)
also eBay has got one that comes with free wifi adapter so i guess no built in Wifi

    • +1

Try refilling the toner instead. $90 for a full colour set (even less for multiples) will be heaps cheaper in the long run. Single colours are $25-$27.

    • Print from router's wifi.

      • Printer spot is far from router

      • +1

I think what ChiMot is saying is this printer doesn’t have Wi-Fi built-in. You might be able to get another model that has Wi-Fi but that would be a different price of course.

        • correct. but chenren said we can hook the printer to the router modem via cable and the printer will become wireless, sadly i dont have space next to my modem for a printer this big.

  • +6

$73.39 for shipping to Perth. Ouch

  • +1

You can get 3rd party ones for about 75$ and also a wifi adapter if so required.

    • Each.. or for a set? (Assuming you mean toner)

  • Australia POST: $30.21 for me

    • Where have you been ross?!!

      • +1

        On Friends perhaps?

        • 3 decades ago?

      • Just referring to the cheap ass printers where you pay for it with the ink. Gosh I thought this was oztightarse.

  • hmm i may go with Brother Wireless Mono Laser MFC Printer HL-L2395DW
    officeworks $214

    • I've got one of these, it's a good machine. Same solid performance you get from most Brother printers, Wi-Fi seems to hold onto the connection, and consumables will be reasonably cheap. The only thing it's missing is a document feeder on the scanner, but after reading a few reviews it seems the ADF on the low-range Brothers is universally rubbish and tends to pull in pages all skewed.

      • ah yes the document feeder.. i think need to go one level up ie MFC-L2713DW
        $238

        • I got that one about 6 months ago. ADF has worked fine but I have only used sparingly.

Has fax too never used it probably never will.

      • Good guys commercial have a decent brother with document feeder

    • I've got the 2750 mono brother laser after having a Samsung. Would happily buy a brother again over a Samsung

  • site has been oZbargained i think…super slow for me

    • +1

      nope, that's pretty normal xD

      • i think the site is kinda bung as it keeps saying 22 in stock and thesite is amazingly bad in that you have to register BEFORE you can get a shipping quote

but really $230 isnt too bad for what it is… IF you need a 25kg workgroup printer

and i think $60-$80 for a black 2,500 sheet cart is about right if it can printer with dead colour carts

    Replacement Cartridges for Lexmark CX310

Product functions only with replacement cartridges designed for use in a specific geographical region. See www.lexmark.com/regions for more details.

    REGION LOCKED TONER CARTS!

i thought i seen it all

    • +8

      "REGION LOCKED TONER CARTS!"

      Good god.

      • +5

I mean its a forgone conclusion. If they have a little memory chip on the cart itself its trivial to imprint a country code into it…

You can expect printer companies to be the biggest bag of d*cks on the planet in that regard and they never disappoint.

        • +3

I had a printer a while ago (might still be my current printer, can't remember) that had small chips on the cartridges that region locked them. I couldn't get third party for a while, but I think they cracked the code eventually.

    • Is that means no aftermarket toner for this machine?

  • Bought the non-scanning model of this for my Dad a few years ago for $140. It's been an excellent machine and even though I also blew about $400 on a set of 'high-yield' cartridges for him to use once the initial ones ran out it's still going strong and he hasn't needed to think about toner at all :) I assume this model will be a similar great performer.

Honestly I don’t know why anyone would even consider a Brother printer when you can get one of these.
Having owned both, I would say the Brother does not even come close the Lexmark in terms of build quality, functionality, and finished print output. The Lexmark is in a different class

    • +1

Yeah but for most people if a printer does all the basic functions well and it runs on cheap carts and is reliabile then thats close enough.

I do get ya.. I used to do a lot of printer form invoice work for corporates and Lexmark large workgroup printers and mfds are really "the standard" even better than HP which says it all.

But ironically for SME, brother slash fuji xerox clones tend to be quite sufficient.

  • It is now OOS

    • Just ordered one. Hopefully it goes through

  • help please.
where can i tell if a printer can do scanning a stack of paper automatically ie i can put 10 pages in a tray they will go in one by one ?

    this one can or cannot?
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/brother-wi…

    • +3

No, it won't. You need to look for an automatic document feeder (or ADF). Note that reviews of the Brother printers at this end of the cost scale are not good, the ADFs tend to pull pages in crooked and you end up with skewed images. Spend a bit more and get something better.

      • Agreed, I have a Brother MFC-L2740DW and ADF scanning is rubbish. Images come out slightly crooked and with a vertical streak down the page even after cleaning as per the user manual.

        • the streak must be a faulty item then bring it back to the shop

    • -4

Use your smartphone and the free Microsoft Lens App

      • For casual scan okay but for legal documents you want it to be perfect straight etc

      • +1

All right for scanning one or two pages (if you can get the lighting right), but ever tried scanning a 20 page document with your smartphone? It’s a PITA.

  • -5

    canon is better

  • +2

Nowadays it is just cheaper to get a new printer rather than paying for a set of colour toners.

    • Often not as printers usually comes with low page count starter toner/ink.

Toner normally gets cheaper as the printer more expensive.

Genuine Kyocera toner $120 for 12000 pages for me.

And higher page counts get even cheaper.

  • can i put this one into my office/warehouse and print to it from home? on chrome os?

  • @drakarn_123 which monitor? better be a good one for that price.

  • For the starter toner, how many pages can it yield?

  • -2
    • that is an inkjet.

    • Inkjet doesn't doesn't in the page count wise

  • +2

A set of toner is about double the price of the printer! Thanks but no thanks!

    • Buy two, then sell the second one?
      That’ll make it free, no?

      • Do your maths probably! Buy 2 to lose more!!!

        • Probably? Where’s your Grandma?

          • @muncan: Thanks, but as I said, just focus on your Maths not English.

  • This looks like my old office's printer, lol

Just create a Sun Super account. You don't need to put any money in it. Worked for me and many others

    • this looks great !! wonder how much the ink would be ?

For the 1,400-page Black and Colour (CMYK) Starter Return Program Toner Cartridges, found the following from the Lexmark site:

Lexmark Return Program cartridges are patented print cartridges sold at a discount in exchange for the customer’s agreement to the license requirement that the cartridges will be used only once and returned only to Lexmark for remanufacturing and/or recycling. The Return Program cartridges are licensed for single use only and are designed to stop working after the delivery of a fixed amount of toner/ink. A variable amount of toner/ink will remain in the cartridge when replacement is required. In addition, the cartridge is designed to automatically update the memory in your printer to protect against the introduction of counterfeit and/or unauthorized third-party cartridges. If the customer does not accept these terms, replacement cartridges sold without these terms are available through www.lexmark.com.

This printer is a trap. A wallet trap.

  • Can anyone please tell me if i should be buying this or not .. i need a laser printer (color not mono), with Print/scan/copy functionality.

I cant seem to find any latest reviews and the latest price of the toners too. Please help me out.

  • +1

Wow the toner is expensive for this Printer, Not even worth it….

And yet someone just bought one lol

    • how much expensive? and is that the 3rd party or original? original will be expensive doesn't matter which printer

    • Yeah, I almost purchased, but I looked into the toner replacements. Even if you buy the $90 toner refills, you've still got to get reset chips so that the toner cartridges work. Cheapest I could find was $20 each (so $80 worth of chips and $90 of toner).

  • gone, all sold out

  • +1

Was gonna grab this but did my research first. Here’s a huge caveat:

    https://topnewreview.com/lexmark-cx310dn-review/

"Note, though, that users report the Lexmark CX310dn will gradually run down the color refills even if you only use black, and won’t work if any color cartridge is empty, so don’t buy this if you really just need a mono printer."

This may not be ideal for people wanting a mono printer with a colour feature just in case. The colour toners are not cheap and you will need to replace them even for mono printing

    • agree. 99% of the time, we just print black and white.
can always scan in colour and send that to email, let the person print colour if they want haha

  • still available, just ordered one

review wasn’t that bad. Also Lexmark runs a onsite warranty model so don’t need to carry it around if it breaks.
