[Pre Order] NovelKeys NK65 Milkshake Edition Mechanical Keyboard $273 + Delivery @ Daily Clack

1220

This may not be in everyone's taste, but this mechanical keyboard represents excellent value for what you get.

Shipping was $18 for me, bringing it to $291.

Note: this is a pre-order/group buy (as with most enthusiast-level keyboard sets/kits etc.) with estimated shipping in Feb/March 2021.

Quantity is not limited on this group buy (unlike some others) so less FOMO.

Note it comes assembled and isn't a kit. Also one of the best features is the hotswappable switches, so they aren't soldered in and you can change them if you'd prefer tactile or clicky, there are so many switch types out there! The ones it comes with are linear.

Features:

  • 65% Standard Fixed Layout
  • Hotswap PCB
  • VIA (software) Compatible
  • USB C
  • Per switch RGB lighting
  • Milkshake design
  • 8 degree angle
  • Silicone Dampening Pad

Included:

  • Top and Bottom case
  • 1.5mm Aluminium Plate
  • PCB
  • NK_ Silk Yellow switches (factory lubricated with 205g0)
  • NK_ Plate Mount Stabilizers
  • Coiled USB C cable
  • Hardware, Mounting Gaskets
  • Bumpons
  • Keycaps
  • Carrying case

  • This may be a silly question, but if later down the track you wanted to put this in a metal case would you be able to?

    • +2

Yeah, they sell alu versions of the same case.

  • This for $291 or Razer huntsman mini for $212 from amazon ?
Don’t know much about mechanical keyboards, currently have ducky TKL keyboard but want smaller and smoother/quieter feeling clicks.

    Edit: spelling

  • Thanks, bought one.

  • Looking for a new keyboard, currently using a blackwidow ultimate, cherry mx blues. Is this a good upgrade, i understand its a value proposition but is there any known issues of this board i should be aware of.

  • "Per switch RGB lighting"
Does this mean the PCB already has LEDs installed?

  • How do these compare to the Keychron hot swappable or GK68XS hot swappable?

Keychron is half the price and GK68XS is similar price but aluminium base.

    • are any of these programmable using qmk or via ?

      • Keychron is not but apparently they are bringing out software.

        GK68xs is programmable.

        • Neither those boards are QMK/VIA compatible. For me, programmability > aluminium

          • @canberrascooter: What is so good about programmable. Going to a smaller keyboard seems like a great idea for ergonomics and space and also there are certain keys I would def want to program but not sure how much programmability one needs.

I might get it and see how it goes. Been looking for a while at a 65% keyboard for a while as was going to get an Akko but not able program or hot swappable.

    • my understanding is the GK keyboards use a software that is very hard to use. I have a GK64s and the software is woeful

  • Just checked now and the pre orders are still up, caved in and purchased it. Every other keyboard seems to be horrible value compared to this one and who doesn't want a good deal. The waits a bit long though.

  • Missed the boat on this one. If anyone has ordered one and has changed their mind please let me know!
