Very lacklustre deals so far IMO.

    • +1

      I concur.

    • Yeah it was the same last year. If you happen to be after one of the few items that are a decent deal then it's good but for most people there's little to nothing on offer.

    • very… just got myself $10 30xAA Energizer deals .. everything else.. meh..

    • And purchase limit is kinda annoying. Buying one of something that people normally buy a lot of is kind of a pain, you have to buy the rest at full price.

  • I hope a Miele CX1 goes on sale. Haven't vacuumed in ages because my vacuum smells awful.

  • A little bird

hey lil mama lemme whisper in your ear

Has anyone else noticed some Lightning deals have vanished BEFORE they went on sale? I was watching a few Casio watches lightning deals that have magically disappeared. Has this happened to anyone else?

    • Yep

      Try manually searching for them.

    • Yeah, the 1MORE True Wireless ANC in-Ear Headphones was $250 late last night/early morning then dropped to $200 and within 10 mins went back up to $250, but in the last hour back again to $200.
Very tempted to get these, or buy a WD hhd 5tb.

Maybe keep looking at what you want regularly.

  • Do you guys think this brand of a Massage Gun cheap?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Massager-Professional-Handheld-Vib…

Never heard of C+ brand but then again, didn't see a lot of Hypervolts in there too.

    Thanks

    • Keen to know this too.

    • +2

We got this one at home and the missus love it.

    • +1
      • Different brand but yes similar. Which is why I am interested why this one is more expensive.

Other than it says C+ is an American company, I can't see any difference.

      • not sure if there are legit but reviews seem better for C+.

    • so I took the plunge and ordered this one yesterday as I been experiencing some minor niggles since I stopped doing for deep tissue massage after Covid started. I just got this delivered and so far pretty good. only used it for 10 mins but so far pretty good.

  • I'm disappointed…. none of the things I want are on sale.
Was hoping for a UST projector to go on sale. Dagnamit!

I'll drown my sorrows on an Echo Show 5 or two.

Most good deals are gone 😬

I was up last night, I saw top of the range Samsonite luggage for $360. The cheapest one of my GFS can do is $431 and she works at a luggage store. There was only 3 units, hence I didn't post.

Most the T2 range sold out in a few hours too etc

    • I can believe it. I missed out on the luggage deals as well.
I left it too late thinking others wont be interested in claiming it… sold out. :(

Pretty weak sale so far. Maybe it will get better when US comes online.

    • Yeah I agree, nothing really as of yet.

    • When is the US sales starting?

      • +1

Should already be underway. It was underwhelming last year and this year has been no different. It's really just a day for them to sell their Amazon devices.

      • Lol, beaten by 23 seconds.

        • Maybe we are excluded from US deals.
I don't see the prime info come up on the US website and when clicking deals there is the following message.

You must be an Amazon Prime Member to be eligible to purchase Prime Exclusive Deals on Prime Day. Deals will run through October 14th, 23:59PM PST. Please note: Some Prime Member benefits including shipping benefits may not apply to orders shipping outside, or customers located outside, the continental United States.

          • +1

@zombrex: You won't unless you have US Prime membership. They're not interchangeable and only work in the country you have the membership in.

  • Aside from a couple SD cards, pretty disappointing. Was hoping some synth gear would go up but that remains to be seen…

  • +2

Just realised the $49 minimum for free international shipping has been waived. Not sure if I missed it or if no one had mentioned it yet.

    • Nice. I checked this morning and I would have sworn it was still there, clearly I was wrong.
Now for me to sit back and buy nothing.

  • Is anyone able to sign up for Amazon prime free trial again?

    • New account using new email.

      • Yeah after third try I got in.

I guess they blacklisted my iPad knowing I had registered multiple accounts using this device before.

        • Could be. Or they just got swamped with signups on prime day.

I think I'm on my 5th or 6th account. I don't think they'll ban me, they'd rather have the customer.

          • @ozbjunkie: Sorry I should be more clear, I egistered using my iPad twice but I didn't get the option for free trial

the third time I used my iPhone and I got the option, so I guess they knew which device I was using.

            • @Jared17: Understood. My experience is no issue using the same device and getting a free trial every time. But maybe that's changing.

              • @ozbjunkie: Yeah I guess they might be closing the loophole for me.

I used my iPad previously to register new accounts with no issues. This was my 5th account. I guess they caught on, but not my iPhone.

Hopefully it won't for you guys

  • I can't believe the Amazon Fire Stick isn't on sale? I'm hoping for tomorrow. Do they usually add items to the sale?

    • I don't think the Fire Stick is officially available in Australia, no idea why. You'll have to buy from the US if you want one.

      • https://www.amazon.com.au/Fire-TV-Stick-Lite-with-Alexa-Voic… (Not being rude, but isn't this it here? It says it ships from AU)

        • They must finally be starting to bring them in. I think the Lite is a brand new version. No idea what the differences are between the Lite and the TV and the 4K so might be worth checking what you're getting, especially if it's not on sale (which is also weird).

          • @apsilon: Just realised, that's the Lite version. Just watching some reviews now - the only difference that I can see is the remote which is annoying but not a complete deal breaker as the normal version isn't available here or on Amazon US. Thanks for mentioning it. Much appreciated!

Also - not sure if you are interested, but - I have just seen if you purchase through the mobile app, apparently you get $10 off!

            • @Pulsey: Yeah the app offer has been around for at least a week, maybe two. I haven't bothered but I suppose I should, I buy enough from them. Then again, I was given some random courtesy $10 credit yesterday by them and I have no idea why.

              • @apsilon: Nice! From experience, do they change deals with only 14 hours remaining? Or do you think whatever deals are available right now will be the last ones for the sale? Thanks!

                • @Pulsey: There might be a few more but i think that's largely it. I did score a light I'd had on my wishlist for a while that came up today with 22% off where as the most I'd seen in the last 6 months was 2%.

                  • @apsilon: Oh that's awesome. Good stuff.

Did you manage to get quite a bit of items you have been looking at? What did you get?

                    • @Pulsey: No, that light was about it. Nothing else on my wishlists came up as deals and nothing else has sparked my interest enough to make me impulse buy. I wasn't surprised, last year was very much the same. I was a little tempted to buy an Echo to see if it's something I'd use but not keen on the sphere look. Would've bought the new dot if the format was the same as the previous gen but again, sphere now so decided to hold off.

                      • @apsilon: Yeh there isn't much else that interested me apart from the Fire Stick (been wanting it for a week or so) but with shipping times being so bad and not wanting to activate Prime for free shipping, I am probably just going to buy it from JB for an extra few bucks and actually recieve it on the day.

        • I got few 4K Sticks from US. They are well worth it. After recent firmware update, Amazon Prime also works. Something to consider.

          • @amazonaddict: I did see the 4K version too. Hard decisions.

Shipping for the Lite from Amazon AU is horrible (28th of October) wow.

          • @amazonaddict: FYI. I tried going to Amazon US for the FireStick but it doesn't show it as discounted based on my AU address in the payment section. (Now it won't even show as being available to deliver). Oh well.

            • +1

@khomeini: Oh.. I did this exactly 2 years ago. They don't ship them directly to Australia. I opened an Amazon US account. Purchased 3 of them 4K Sticks very cheap on PrimeDay. I found a virtual address service that ships from US for somewhere around $40 AUD. Once I received them I sold one of the firesticks on Gumtree for a hefty margin which covered the Postal Charge.

              • @amazonaddict: Prime entrepreneurship! Well done…. (Too late as I'd already pulled the trigger).

                I ended up buying:
                - 7x echo show 5s
                - fire stick lite
                - panasonic landline phone (KX-TGF575S)

  • Anyone know if Breville will go on sale? Specifically the Espresso machines.

  • +1

Pretty lacklustre sales overall… how is everyone finding it?

    • I agree, apart from a couple of small grocery items, nothing that appealed to me. I was hoping (as was an earlier poster) for something on a Fire Stick, but no luck.

    • Bought some cables, some gum, handwash, deodorant…

Got a monitor arm for $34 should be good.

      Thats about it really.

Looked at lots of stuff but knew most of it was not something is use, whisky stones, some other stuff. A few years on this site and you're out of things to buy I reckon.

    • It’s not as bad as expected. Bought a master mouse and Milo. So pretty contented. Day 1 was much more exciting.

  • +4

Day two is a bit of a letdown so far

  • Hi OZB community, I'm about to hit 'buy' for a bunch of Echo Shows for a vision impaired family member. I need the Alexa Skill 'Show and Tell' which is only available in the US.
I have an Amazon.com account (created before my Amazon.com.au account from memory). Would someone please confirm that the workaround to access US Skills is still working..ie. I can login using the Amazon.com US account and make sure the settings don't update to Australia? Any help would be appreciated, as my google searches have only returned relatively old advice.

  • Whenever I go to Shopback, it clicks through to Amazon app but I'm not recording any cashback. The clicks track, but no Cashback? I assume you can't pay through Amazon app?

    • +2

welcome to the user experience of shopback.

      • That blows!

  • How does Amazon make money? I've got 2 cartons of Sprite freighted in overnight from Brisbane to Sydney via CouriersPlease. I'm sure they will be paying wayyyy below retail freight cost but the soft drinks have rather low margin to begin with.

    • +2

I know, and huge boxes with a couple of toothbrushes or whatever, makes no sense. They made a loss for ages of course. Now you can look at it as selling "the Amazon brand", feeding off ponzi stock price inflation, and of course amassing huge amounts of customer recognition, goodwill, detailed buying data (algorithm fuel) and email addresses. All of this leads to monopolization and "future growth potential" also. It's ponzi until it is scarily all too real to the detriment of local business I suppose.

  • No Ryzen sales yet. :(

  • Tales of Vesperia Comes To Game Pass This Week

  • Not that great a sale this year just like last year. The Amazon US store has much better stock and sale options, but you can't use your Amazon Prime membership to get the free international shipping.

I did end up buying some stuff direct from Amazon US, but Amazon AU once again lets us down.

    • +1

Amazon Aus is just a cheap knockoff, I bought a pair of headphones recently for $200 on Amazon when they were on sale, they're a Prime Day Deal at $359!
Most stuff is overpriced, there are some bargains, but the interface and searching is poor, I still try to buy from local / ebay local sellers where I can.

      • Agreed, ever since Amazon AU open up, I still see myself going back to the US store just because of how limited the range is on the AU store. Prices are not great either, I often find items cheaper elsewhere. I spend far more money on eBay.

  • I haven't found the specials to be that great. Whilst I did by the Switch + Minecraft deal for my kids for Christmas, I only did so cause I'm not sure what stock is going to be like getting closer to Christmas this year. Apart from that most of the other discounts weren't that enticing…I wonder what Black Friday will bring.

  • Have to say I'm rather disappointed with the sales. Had a bunch of PS4 games and 4K movies on my wish list that never budged, not even 1 cent. Also had some appliances that I had my eye on and the same thing. The upside is I saved a bit of money I suppose. Bring on Black Friday sales…

  • An excellent opportunity to buy toilet papers. A true shopping craze.
