This is supposedly the fastest SSD Verbatim has and is the model above Verbatim Vx500 SSD 480GB that is on clearance for $168
https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/verbatim-v…

It's hard to find other stores that stock this SSD but on Ebay the same model size is selling for over $140 more.

I made a leap of faith as I usually stick with Western Digital or Samsung for storage but it's sequential read and write speed is comparable to the Samsung T7

Good Luck!

Check here to see which stores have stock and how much nationwide

Note that stock levels may not be accurate. Whoever made the website neglected to add TAS to the dropdown but they have none anyway.

    • Thank you Clear. But the model in that search says Vx500 which is the model below the one I purchased.
Is there a search for Vx1000?

That will be great for 1 PS5 game

    • PS5 games (and Series X/S) games cant be played from external HDD

      • This is an external SSD. Same thing apply?

  • Hi guys, is this brand reliable? Never heard about Verbatim.

I've got a box of Verbatim 3.25" floppy discs in the cupboard, brand has been around for a while.

      Edit: 3.5" even…

      • oh yeah, verbatim floppys by the boxes back in the days. haven't touched anything from verbatim since though.

        Verbatim been around donkeys years.

        • "Donkey years" is correct. I remember this used to be the brand I used to burn music Cds from…if anybody remembers those prehistoric things

          • @Puglife: You can still get Verbatim optical recordable and rewritable media for Bliu-ray, DVD and CD.

      • Looks like reliable if "Verbatim lifetime warranty" as described in the OP is true.

    • Used to be the brand king of storage. All the stuff bought from back then until now have no issues!

    • Yeah, they've been around for a little while:

    • I was rocking Verbatim 5.25" floppy disks before you were born on C64 and then 3.5" on an Amiga 500… lots of "backing up' in those days ;).

      Yes, the brand is reliable.

Thank you, UFO lol. BTW how do you know my age :)

Granted its a flawed process, but if you've never heard of Verbatim you were never involved with PC gaming in the 80's or 90's. :).

And in my world if you aren't a child of the enlightened 80's copying 100's of games on verbatim games, you simply didn't exist ;).

Some of those Dungeon's and Dragon games needed something like 8 discs to be swapped into the PC, which was always a joy.

          • @UFO: I remember the bit-copier

@[Deactivated]: Yep! When you got a successful copy on an "uncopiable" game, it was such a rush :).

Just grabbed one, but didn't realise that when it says USB-C it only means on the SSD end. Meaning it comes with a male USB-C to female USB-A cable… I was excited to use it with my Mac. I know I can just get a C-to-C cable but the USB3.1 Gen 2 supported ones are expensive. Just a heads up for anyone else who also falls for the "USB-C" advertising.

Thanks JoKing, I'll update the AD.
I haven't had the chance to test it yet but feel free to let us know how performance is.

      • +1

Well I need to find a USB-C to USB-C cable to use it. Anyone know of any good quality but well priced ones? Needs to be USB3.1 Gen 2.

    • Thanks for reminding. Any idea it's TLC or MLC inside?

      • Not really sure what that means sorry

    • Do you mean USB-C male to USB-A male, so basically USB-C to A cable, like this one? Female ending (ie. port/socket instead of a plug) doesn't really make sense, unless it's an extension cable.

      • +1

Yes, my bad. Meant to type male-male. Thanks.

        It comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable. But i need a C-C that is USB3.1 Gen 2.

a couple of the 480gb left at Bondi Junction OW as of about 15 minutes ago, also the 1tb for $199

  • got 50Mb/s transfers backing up my files using the enclosed USB3 to USB C cable.

  • There look to be plenty on the shelf at Blacktown NSW

  • These thingos are still available at OW here in O'connor WA. I find this form factor (cased m2) to be way nicer than the T5. Is it better getting a T5 though?

  • Is it really cased m2 or integrated PCB of flash memory with USB controller like in T7?
What brand of memory chips is used there?
    Is "W:/ 950 MB/sec" true?
Does VX1000 get as hot as VX500 and then slows writing?
