The wait is almost over! For a $50 deposit, you can pre-order the new Xbox Series X or Series S this Tuesday 22nd September from 8am (AEST) - note South Australian, Western Australian & Northern Territory customers

Stock will be extremely limited so be ready by this time to get your pre-order in.

        It's that section that says if you can sub out the store name from the title and replace it with at least 6 other retailers (ie, EB, Amazon, HN, Gamesmen, Target, Big W), and the price listed is the RRP, then the posting officially becomes an advertisement for the retailer rather than a bargain for the product :P

    I preordered a PS5 and I most likely will be getting an Xbox, just not sure if it’ll be Series S or Series X, but there’s no way these things are selling out. They put all their eggs in the Halo Infinite basket and now they’re leveraging services and backwards compatibility to launch two new consoles.

    Sony made a mess of preorders, Xbox made of mess of launch games.

      I don't think these have the same demand for the PS5 for sure, but the difference here is everyone knows the time and date, so will be waiting on the start line. PS5 was basically shadow-dropped.

        I suspect they did that with the PS5 to try and avoid scalpers. True hard core fans would have been watching the announcement and keynote whereas scalpers would not. It was actually clever when you think of it like that.

    The only reason to get an xbox is for game pass so why would you not get this on a plan? Paying up front and then paying for game pass seems like a waste

    This is a good reminder it is coming out, but I hate the JB "we might not get it on release day" clause, that is why this isn't a good deal.

        The game itself runs OK (I have a 1060 as well, bought one just before the 1660 came out :( ) but every component runs at 100%, fans are going crazy and I've been getting BSODs since I installed it. No doubt this can be solved somehow, but I just prefer the ease of a console.

    I was going to preorder for Halo Infinite, but that's pushed till next year. If it was confirmed say January, I would, but still no confirmation.

    I think I'll stick to the PS5 for now and watch if the xbox suffers the same fiasco.

    Plus where will I fit it. The PS5 is not going to leave any room for the xbox.

    Will go for Xbox Series X this time. More horsepower and reports of underpowered PS5. Will eventually also buy the PS5 Digital once Sony's famed exclusives come out.

      Just going to point out the same argument was tabled for the Xbox One X vs PS4 pro…..didn't work out so well for M$.

      All the specs under the sun doesn't mean squat if you don't back it up with amazing games.

        True, but the PS4 Pro also had a cheaper RRP. And 3rd party titles do run better on the X1X. Since I have the budget for both consoles, I'll start with the XSX and get a PS5 Digital for the Sony exclusives. Also, Sony doesn't have an offer comparable to game pass.

          Not true. The PS5 has (over the XSX):

          • the faster SSD

          • slower memory

          • CPU has no hyperthreading
          • slower CPU clock speed
          • "smart shift" (GPU or CPU need to clock down to allow the other to work at capacity)
          • 2 TFLOPs slower GPU, even when running at full speed

            @maxbon: CPU has hyperthreading, it doesn't have a no hyperthreading mode like the Xbox though. According to the lead architect it's designed so that both CPU and GPU can run at around full speed all the time but if one component needs more juice then the other can downclock a little to accommodate.

    Man Ill be ready for the Series X tomorrow!
    Got my PS5 pre-ordered, Just need the Xbox Series X to complete my gaming heaven this year!

    I've wanted that SDD and to do away with most loading screens. Biggest next gen feature Ive wanted since Sega Saturn and PS1 days…

    Not a big launch lineup by any means,
    But Gears Tactics and Scorn look so sick!
    Gonna try Yakuza series for the first time: Like A Dragon. Looks pretty cool!
    and Falconer looks interesting. For launch games…
    The Medium looks next gen as well 2020 release. So not too far away?
    Gamepass is going to save me so much money with these $125 games.

    Lucky we got 1000s of Backwards compat games to see improved as well.
    Also want to try Gears 5, Ori and dirt 5 in 120fps…

    Finally a bunch of killer exclusives coming in the future!
    Ill be waiting for that true next gen experience when Flight Sim drops for the Series X

      Hellblade 2 is not exclusive.

      PC
      PS5
      And switch (possibly)

      Xbox owns the studio but they not restricting release as the first game was on multiple platforms and they allowing the developers to continue developing for same platforms.

      Saying that Xbox has come a long way and sure does have some decent exclusives coming which is why I will pick a series x up in the new year sometime :)

              I know MS bought Ninja Theory i watched the announcement live at E3

              Since then they have confirmed that Hellblade 2 will come to Playstation and they are hoping to develop for Switch if they can.
              It will 100% be a timed exclusive, but will be on other platforms for sure.

              Something MS realises that Sony does not (although they are starting too now) is that you make more money selling games on multiple platforms.

              I have no doubt at all it will be on PS … i will play it on Xbox if its a timed exclusive but i have zero doubt it will be released on PS

      It was absolute Hell pre-ordering today.
      EB Games/Gamesmen was a nightmare and crashed every 5 seconds.
      most of my friends couldn't get one today, I only found out an hr ago. my Order came through.
      Absolute madness and stressful.

    Just putting in my 2 cents. I like these posts because while I'm hunting for a bargain, I also like to see if something has come back in stock or if a new product is now available (I. E. PS5/XSX).

    Maybe new releases or notifications of new stock belong somewhere on ozbargain other than the 'deals' section. The site operators maybe need to consider this.

    Pre-preorder day it's more useful just to see a forum post outlining all the places that will have preorders open so we know where to look come preorder day

    Recently preordered a CD @ JBHIFI and it took 14 days to deliver even when shipped 2 days before the release date. I do understand Auspost is delayed at the moment but if they are not going to put tracking on preorders then I'll have to preorder my xbox with another company.

      That's because the Switch was hard to find stock of at many times. This doesn't even have guaranteed stock and it is a preorder, something that was guaranteed to happen anyway.

        But the switch will eventually have stock… and the PS5 sold out of preorders till 2021. I see where you’re getting at but if we used the same method of thought people shouldn’t post rrp prices of switches either, we should all just wait till they stock them up at retailers.

        Oh and I completely agree, JB is not promising release launch stock, I myself got the ps5 directly from Sony because JBs terms sounded a bit dodgy.
