what sausage you use for fried rice
For those in Melbourne, go to Casa Iberica and purchase real authentic Chorizo. I know it costs more but its 200% the real chorizo over this Primo one.
:O there's one right near me! thanks for the tip!
You're welcome!
They usually have the two types, Mild and Hot.
Hopefully Covid hasn't hurt supplies, last time I went was in March!
i'm like 2km from the Alphington deli :)
@Trantor: I just called the Fitzroy store and asked them if they sold it at Alphington for you.
They do:) Hope that helps
@iNeed2Pee: How much is it at casa iberica?
@[Deactivated]: Tbh I cant remember.
I rarely look at the prices because I only usually buy a few. Worth every cent!
@iNeed2Pee: How do you know it's worth every cent if you don't know how much it costs ?
@z28: Well whatever it costs, its worth whatever they charge.
@iNeed2Pee: Thanks. I'll try it out at some point. Best flavour (or only one?)
@[Deactivated]: I believe only one. My grandmother (rest her soul) would always only tell me to get the mild one. Ive always been a mild guy, but the choice is yours. Mild or Hot, you will also notice when cooking it has more fat then the primo one.
Also, if you want it more drier, use some butchers paper and string it up in room temp and let it dry for a couple more days.
Just comes down to how you like it.
Good deal, terrible chorizo
wait what
Bought some , it was tasty. One for the 'out of date specials' list.
huh?
every 2/3 weeks sale
u sure?? thanx
This is horrible horrible stuff. Could hardly call it chorizo
Juicy, succulent and firm… Just how I like my turds
What people use these on?
I use them on pasta but mostly on fried rice
how fied them
This is very tasty.
Actually tried eating them uncooked and they are delicious.
Tastes like kabana.
Will let you know if any problems tomorrow.
These aren't dry cured ready to eat variety. It needs to be fully cooked before consumption. It says it on the pack, when not buying loose from the deli.
Oops.
RIP Pencilman
Brooo I don't think you're supposed to be eating these uncooked….
Whatever doesn't kill hey..
After reading the comments - yeah, OOPS!
Got to say though, they really did taste fine uncooked, like kabanas.
Nice also cooked, with cooking releasing the oil, so it felt more oily to eat.
Glad to report that I am still fine. Have eaten much worse looking salamis made by friends and when in Europe, ha ha.
A few places near my house is doing whole eye fillet pieces for $24 a kg which I have found to be really good quality having bought a few
That's aldi's normal price isn't it? Might even me 21.99 there
Any idea how long these can be stored?
At least for a week.
Freeze them and use within 2 days when defrosted. Will last forever in the freezer
These are terrible value at $24/kg, as they barely taste like chorizo. Guess it's not bad to chuck on some bread at half price though.
I buy It only at half price and good for jambalaya. Never had the real deal in Spain so I am happy with this
On special these are good value. Perfectly fine to use in pasta, pizza etc.
how often speciale
Found these taste better than the ALDI versions
Agree. Better than the Coles ones too
Great for pasta, the fatty oils make for nice cooking oil.
Can they be freezed?
Yes, I have done this. Maybe only 3 to 6 months as they are very fatty and fat goes rancid.
oh no
Almost pulled the trigger on this, then I saw "Made In Australia from less than 10% Australian ingredients" wonder where the other 90% are from….
Nearly all processed pork in the supermarkets comes from Europe or North America.
Junk food, enough said.
I worked at woolworths and this is the cheapest crap you can buy.
:O
Where are they made?
If you live in Sydney and want the real deal guys. Go to Rodriguez Bros and get their mild or spicy Argentinian chorizos. That’s the real deal right there, this stuff from supermarkets is dog food in comparison.
As others point out, good deal, but you could hardly call this chorizo.
If you can't buy from a deli, the best supermarket chorizo I've found by far is Miguel Maestre, Chorizo A La Maestre (only available at Woolies). $8 for two (200 grams).
$40 per kilo. Ouch.
I get chorizo from my local butcher prepackaged at $6 for 3, same size. It tastes markedly different and is noticeably spicier / hotter. Hopefully it's the real thing.
can i go that butcher
Thanks for pointing it out, missed it in the catalogue :-)
