Samsung Galaxy Watch 46mm Battery Drain Issue

Hi all,

I bought a galaxy watch 46mm 3 months ago through ozb deal.

Everything was good, the watch can last 3 days without charging. That is until few weeks ago the watch starts to drain battery.

i can left it at 100% on my desk not wearing it at night and still wake up to a completely drained watch.

It can happen randomly, at times i feel the watch getting warm and laggy that's when it starts to drain battery.

When it happens i have to force reboot the watch. It is getting really frustrating.

i tried uninstalling all watch faces and use only official watch faces but didn't fix it.

Yesterday i tried turning off all activities detection and HR monitor. This morning is going fine, but i will report back if it happens again even with all function turned off.

Now i'm thinking what's point of having this smartwatch if i can't use any of the smart functions…..

i look it up on Samsung forums, it appears a lot of people are having the same issue. I wonder if any ozb are having the same issue?

Edit:
Thank-you all for your reply. i did a full reset on my watch it seems alright now.

i did a full charge to 100% yesterday night and wakes up to 86% still drains a bit but at least not 0%….

then i checked the app, says samsung health took 18% and watch face took 12%, the rest is only 1%.

    No

  • warranties are pretty good.

Take it back. They'll swap it out.

Had one done when my nfc stopped working

Mine is still good. Could try a full wipe and reset as Samsung will probs make you do that before RMA

  • I've had my 46mm Galaxy Watch for over a year and was getting battery drain issue a month or two ago. It will go from full to dead over night. I backed it up, factory reset and restored the watch and it has been fine ever since getting 3-4 days battery life.

I love Samsung, but they really are dropping their support standards lately. Last week my wife's brand new Tab S6 Lite told her to a new Samsung update was being done (she had it set to automatic update), after the update it turned itself off and that's how it's been ever since.

Quick Google search and it's a Samsung recognised issue with the update, requiring the tablet to go back to Samsung.

First, dafuq is the update still live if the potential problem is so bad
Second, Samsung acknowledge the tablet is dead because if this but will not switch it over for a new one.
Third, it has to be taken to a Samsung store to be 'assessed and dealt with' but the first appointment is 2 weeks away.

I know, that's normal blah blah blah, but I'm old and grumpy and expect better. A 2 month old tablet killed by the vendor should be replaced on the spot.

    • agreed, this could be my last piece of samsung device after all this hassle.

  • Take it back for repair/replacement, it's probably a defective unit.
I've had mine for nearly 2 years, the battery still lasts 2-3 days with AOD enabled and no problems so far.

I had the same issue last week. I just un-paired it from my phone and did a factory reset on the watch. That fixed it

  • looking for a smart watch for elders, is apple watch better and reliable?

    • it depends on what kind of functions they want to get from the watch.

Do they use an Iphone? If yes, then apple watch is an easy choice.

But for my old man tho, if a watch needs charging everyday he will probably chuck it in the bin…
